furiousp 1 Posted February 26, 2022 Share Posted February 26, 2022 Shield 9.0.1 / Emby Premiere 4.6.7.0 Hello, My 5.1 Music files, will now only playback as stereo. In the past the same files did playback as multi-channel audio. Files are VLC wav files. -Movie soundtracks play back correctly as multi-channel audio. My only recent change was a Shield update. -On Shield preferences: Stereo mix down NOT selected. Attempted to cast Emby from my PC, when I dicontinued that cast and switched back to pay from Shield all channels were back. Problem solved(?) furiousp 1 Posted February 27, 2022 Author Share Posted February 27, 2022 Thanks for your response, Luke. As mentioned, the 5.1 audio (Shield>via HDMI>Yamaha receiver) is indeed working again. Ok it's possible that then going through that, that's all it will support. Yes, operator error. I discussed w/ a friend who has operated a similar setup to mine and I think I've identified the issue. At some point I was using the the Emby app from my smartphone as a remote control, playing from the Shield player. I inadvertently selected to "cast" in the phone app, switching from the robust (Shield) multi-channel, to the phone's 2 channel output and creating the issue.
