Moving a library

I want to rebalance my server a bit, and move my media to another volume.

I have copied the data, and would like to "move" the library location in emby to point to the new location.  Im not worried about losing any of the meta data, since NFOs are saved, and all files/directories are named properly so Emby picks them up properly.

However, I dont want to lose user meta data such as play count etc etc.  So I would prefer not to just remove the files from one location, and create a new library.

Is there anything I can do here thats "official".

My other idea, is to shut down the server, and use a softlink to point from the old location to the new.

Userdata is tracked by providerid (IMDB, TMDB, TVDB) so relocating media will not lose this tracking data.  But any item that does not have this info will ie home videos, anything without a providerid.

Mission accomplished yet?

Did you move the library in one shot or just move part of it?

I moved part of the library, I decided to use a softlink.

I shut down emby, moved the data, created the softlink, started emby.  It never knew anything happened.
