silverscout 7
Please be as nice and gentle (who am I kidding.. be as honest as possible) so I am planning for this black friday (I know it is a little bit away) giving myself an early holiday gift. I wish for the setup to house a NAS, transcode and record video. Currently I have the below in my wish list to keep an eye on. setup. 1. HD HomeRun 3 channel 1. Nas (potentially running windows server 2012) doing a software nas. Needs 1. Stream with transcode to around 3-4 at the same time. 2. Stream and record TV from the HD Home Run 3. House 6HDD's (why? why not?) hard drives not listed due to going to build that up later.. already have 2.. will get 2 more black friday 4. potentially a combo of 1 and 2. Goal - cheap as possible. (I wish I could be less of a scrooge.. However, the woman stated I need to save up for the wedding. uhg.. 1 day of cake vs countless days of media, however, I guess it is all about her.. sigh!!! I already gave her an expensive shinny.. what else could she possibly want ) ASUS Z87I-DELUXE LGA 1150 Intel Z87 HDMI SATA 6Gb/s USB 3.0 Mini ITX Intel Motherboard Model #:Z87I-DELUXE Item #:N82E16813132028 $189.79 -$10.00 Instant $179.79 Crucial Ballistix Sport 16GB (2 x 8GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800) Desktop Memory Model BLS2KIT8G3D1609DS1S00 Model #:BLS2KIT8G3D1609DS1S0 Item #:N82E16820148545 $157.99 -$15.00 Instant $142.99 Fractal Design Node 304 FD-CA-NODE-304-BL Black Aluminum / Steel Mini-ITX Tower Computer Case Model #:Node 304 Black Item #:N82E16811352027 $99.99 -$10.00 Instant $89.99 SeaSonic SSR-360GP 360W ATX12V v2.31 80 PLUS GOLD Certified Active PFC Power Supply New 4th Gen CPU Certified Haswell Ready Model #:SSR-360GP Item #:N82E16817151117 $69.99 - 10.00 Instant $59.99 Intel Core i7-4790 Haswell Quad-Core 3.6GHz LGA 1150 84W Desktop Processor Intel HD Graphics 4600 BX80646I74790 Model #:BX80646I74790 Item #:N82E16819116987 $309.99 $309.99 Subtotal: $782.75 Edited September 17, 2014 by silverscout
The Baron 64
Sounds like you are going to have yourself a nice setup. One addition I would make would be to buy a CPU fan, the stock fans that come with the CPU are somewhat lacking.

I'm Noctua all the way, even tho they are quite pricey they are soooooo good at what they do. Although saying that you'll be pushed to get a low profile one for that case. @@silverscout Check out my build I did recently, you'll see that what you have will easily do what you want it to. You got yourself a nice set up but I would think about a bigger case tbh. http://mediabrowser.tv/community/index.php?/topic/6936-htpc-upgrade-time/ Hope it helps Edited September 17, 2014 by Cheesegeezer
