Remote backup system

After extracting gobs of discs I am so paranoid I will have a catastrophic failure.  My current system is an I7-9800x with raid 5 and a 1050ti that is unlocked.  All works fine.

What I want to do is build a redundant system and locate it at a cabin about 40 miles from me.  Sync it all up, then use syncthing for the periodic new rips and photos,  etc.  No problems yet.

I've got an old case with an old motherboard and an old fx-4300.  I also have an RX580 for transcodes at the cabin if I need them.  All I would need is a big fat hard drive.  Not going to raid a backup system that is inherently backed up.

Is fx-4300 up to it? Any other things I am missing?

I'm not sure I understand the concern.  Syncing files is not a CPU intensive thing.

I say just move to the cabin 😄

If you are just using the system as effectively a remote NAS device, then you don't need anything special at all - as Pi would do, so an 8 core CPU is more than up to the task.
