Hi,

in the Emby App for Samsung Tizen the direct play of mpegts streams only works in app. 10% of all attempts. Mostly, there is only one frame shown and the Stream does not play. But sometimes, after i switch a few times between "auto" and 1080p - 15mbps (Stream has about 10 mbps) the stream starts after a few seconds and works well.

Best regards,

Julian

Hi there, if you lower the in-app quality setting low enough to force it to transcode, does that help? Just remember to raise back the option after testing as you may not like that permanently. Thanks.

if I reduce the bitrate, it transcode and works without problems. I want direct stream due to the better quality. I do not know why, but if the stream has quick movements (soccer for example) the video is not smooth with transcoding. With direct play it's smooth.

@Luke

is this still a feature still? i turned the Allow direct play of ts files on, on the firetv that im watching shows on. although if i goto dashboard it shows its converting to hls still. also on the channel its self while watching the show. if you click settings it defaults to 2160 instead of 1080p which 1080p is the actual stream. i also looked over the transcoding section and didn't see anything relevant.

it would be nice to test without converting for say sporting events.

Hi there, did you explore the stats feature in the video player to learn the reason for transcoding?

yes its a mpeg format so i guess it auto converts to hls because it better to seek.

ive also noticed allot of changes in the latest beta version. not sure if i should create a new topic though. it dont create individual log files for each recording like it always did before. and if i reboot emby while its recording it dont restart the recording like it use to.

HI, no, it uses the main server log.

@Lukeok thanks

it use to start recording back up if emby was restarted. are you going to try and make it start back up after restart?

it seems thats the reason 1 recording failed because it was same time as emby restarted.

although the other recording i cant tell why at the moment.

We'd have to look at a specific example:

Thanks.

sorry been busy holidays. i just found the issue with why these stream files wasnt working, from another post. its definitely not the usual suspect, lol

although the metadata was there. but i guess not the data that counted.. i refreshed metadata and now the strm file that errored out works..

i suggest if ffprobe dont get results instead of it tring multi times and failing to play. but realize there is no media data and trigger a refresh metadata of that file and then try playing it..  out of all the possible log errors etc from multiple posts on emby that were unresolved. i believe this would help greatly. so you can close my posts.

thank you!

im not sure if this is the right post to get back on at the moment. ill try a little later to review the old posts and update. but the original reason is some strm files didn't want to play. so i had to do allot of troubleshooting to figure out why. it would be nice if there was documentation on all the errors in logs though.

it looks like my last post on this thread was meant for another topic.

but to follow up on my question in this post.  yes it still makes a separate log file for the recording like it use to. it didnt with the new iptv provider because they used mpegts vs hls streams livetv. but i switched back to old iptv provider.

so im good on thus topic myself.
