If you're using Theater and have no bandwidth problems, the app will tone-map natively. It won't require server intervention. Was there something specific you were trying to accomplish?

It doesn't tone map, and the color is still washed out while playing HDR content.

Am I using the wrong app ? as I saw other people have that option in their client

Post a screenshot of the video settings in Theater.

What if you enable hardware transcoding?

It's probably the libmpv renderer. If it is, using the GPU renderer will rectify it, then I can add a little to improve the picture...

Change the 'Video output' to GPU, and try again.

I just did and nothing happens

Do you see that transcoding option in the web app or your theatre app ?

They are totally different.

Post a screenshot of your stats from theater.

sorry, I didn't quite understand what you say

I mean if it works for you, which app are you currently use to play, does it work for you in the web app (chrome) or your theatre app ?

I just uninstall the theatre app and re-download from the official website. it still wouldn't tone map or have that tone map option displayed under transcoding section.

The player that is used in Theater and the player that is used in Chrome are entirely different, with entirely different capabilities. This is the Theater forum, so let's focus on Theater, here. For Chrome, you should start a new topic in the General forum.

So...in Theater....play some HDR media....pull up the stats for nerds....take a screenshot and post it here :)
