Some videos will stop playing automatically.

When the playback quality is higher, the time interval for auto stop playback is shorter. When the playback quality is low to a certain point it will not automatically stop playing. But honestly, I don't think it's also the reason why my machine is too low performance.
My CPU is i5-10400, graphics card is UHD630, RAM is 32GB

Hi, the speed of the transcode is fine so that's not an issue.

Does this only happen in Chrome?  Have you tried playing back the same media in an Emby app or using a different browser such as firefox?

Hi,  I just opened firefox and tested it and didn't experience the same problem. Even 4k 120Mbps is very smooth. But I'm having the same problem as Chrome with Microsoft Edge with Chromium core. My phone is a new version of iPhone SE. it plays HD video with very low frame rate, I suspect my settings are wrong.

Thanks, we'll investigate and see if we can duplicate your issue.

Hi, I have another question. is hardware transcoding not possible for 4K HEVC HDR10 videos?

With 4.6x Emby server and later this is possible for Premiere users. You need to turn this on in the Transcode menu.

If you have a GPU that can handle transcoding you will likely want to use the GPU for this vs software.

In fact, I found that only the first 8 seconds of GPU work was involved. After 8 seconds, the hardware transcoding becomes software transcoding.

Hi, We would need to see the ffmpeg log files generated for a playback.  Based on what you just said it would seem like it fails using hardware then falls back to software.

So by looking at these logs we can try to find out why and make corrective actions.

Right off the bat I'm going to think this 4K HDR files is going to be problematic transcoding as it has 25 streams to process.

Do you need all these subtitles in the file for so many languages?

In fact, the subtitles I use are external ass subtitles. I thought it would only affect performance when extracting subtitle files encapsulated inside the video. All in all, thank you for your patience in answering.

Can you show us what the Media Info look like for this?

This will be at the bottom of the detail screen for this media.

There isn't really any track limit, it's just that some players on some devices occasionally will have trouble with videos containing large numbers of subtitle tracks.

My question was more about converting all the VTT streams vs just one stream that is actually being used.

Putting them all in the manifest allows switching tracks using the video player's native controls, which is needed on some platforms where we can't do a custom player UI or haven't done one yet. It also helps prevent having to stop and restart the whole stream just on subtitle track changes.

I had a feeling it was something like that but figured it was worth asking about.

Thanks
