thenoog85 0
When trying to play to certain .mkv file formats on the Emby TV apps, the video starts to lag and eventually ends up with the error "Too Many Errors - Giving Up". Not a problem with the PC and Linux Emby Theatre and not a problem with Mobile/Tablet devices. I assume it's not a problem on PC's due to Codecs. What I'm struggling to understand is why, if the device in question can't deal with .mkv's, does it "direct play" them? Transcoding is enabled. Does transcoding not attempt to deal with this issue? MP4 or AVI solves the issue. Is the best option to convert all files to MP4 or is there another way to deal with this problem? I'm sure this is a really basic question with an obvious answer, but I've really struggled to work this out with the help of Google. I'm just trying to work out if it's easier to serve files only in MP4 or if there's a way to make MKV work across the board so to speak. I assume my lack of grasp about Transcoding is the real issue here! Edited August 15, 2021 by thenoog85
