I would assume OP was referring to terminology used, as once upon a time thete were no separate streams (video/audio) and method specified - even when audio was converted, as opposed to now.

When it's performing audio remux the log will be named as such and should look like this on the dashboard. The video will say direct play but audio will say transcode. ffmpeg-remux-eea8427c-c33c-477d-87d3-f6426a0f0ecc_1.txt

Hi, it depends on what you're playing, what browser, what device, etc. It's not something that has changed with Emby versions. The Emby web app will use the full capabilities of what the browser supports. So I'm guessing those three things are probably not exactly the same as when you tested in previous years, right?

My browser doesn't even support HEVC and yet always picks the 4k HDR in HEVC rather than the 1080p in H264.

HelloIn old versions of Emby, when an audio was not compatible with the browser, Emby avoided transcoding and did a remux, and on the dashboard instead of "transcode" appearing, "direct streaming" appeared when this occurred, and used it well low computer resources. Since the 2023 emby versions, this "direct streaming" information has disappeared and now even the audios are being transcoded.Does anyone know if emby no longer does audio remux? Or was the information just changed from "direct streaming" to "transcode", but it still consumes fewer resources?

Yes, this is what we are reporting. Even though I have correctly set the 'display' in the client to match the actual TV capabilities (1080p/Non-HDR/8Bit in mycase) emby is still 'Direct Playing' a 4K HDR/DV. The scaling doesn't seem to be an issue, it's the tonemapping that is the problem. Thanks !

On a slightly related note. On Emby Android app version 3.3.95 the wrong thumbnail shows at the end of the ascending grid of photos for some pictures. Meta Data shown in Link. Picture name is IMG_20211229_120405733_HDR. I "play"the image the same way as before "clicking" on the library to open it, and then photos, then "click" on the thumbnail. Android 14.

The latest apk has added a section called Continue Watching that you can enable.

It is best to use Tmdb id instead of Imdb id because Moviedb is Emby's default metadata fetcher: https://www.themoviedb.org/

This version sometimes blocks the remote control in the player. Up/down and left/right sometimes no longer work. The whole thing works very slowly. The audio stream from the channel is interrupted. All of this is not a problem with the version 1.7.0

I would assume max. &MaxStreamingBitrate=200000000 But am guess a specific client issue that needs cleared/uninistalled and reinstalled. With one device working and another not.

Some of the last 5700+ or so thumbnails mismatch but only when they are sorted to be last. I don't know if I noticed in in Ascending order, but I does happen in descending. now that I am looking for it now I don't see any yet that I know are at the end of Ascending.

Can anyone explain this to me, why is the video bitrate being reduced when the stream is at 7mbps but it is also transcoding to 7mbps?
