You can try using Emby Theater instead of web, the mpv player might be able to handle the tone mapping. As for the android player that just comes down to if your device supports DV or not. Personally I prefer DV to HDR on my TV but I go for the files that have both layers available for compatibility.

Yet Another Skipping/rewinding movie only on Roku

Apologies. What I meant is it isn't anything wrong with the Emby Roku app. It has to do with the ffmpeg packaged with Emby. What I have suggested to you are just ways to work-around this problem until a proper solution is found and this can be resolved. It is something incorrect with the transcoding happening. I was suggesting ways to make your media have more Direct Play which would avoid the problem of transcoding altogether. I wasn't expecting you to convert your entire library. That would be a huge burden. I just wanted to confirm that it would fix the issue. I would also like others to know who might reading this thread that transcoding is to be avoided, not encouraged. This is why the issue is important to fix and we are not going to just avoid this thread. You are not going to have to live with it. Since this is out of my wheel house and for the issue to get fixed by the right people they need to be involved. I can try to push this higher up in priority by mention @Lukeand @softworkzin this thread. They would have more intimate knowledge about the ffmpeg packaged with Emby and how this issue might get corrected.
  7. I realized that I haven't downloaded any new Local Movie Theme Videos in the last couple years. So over the weekend I ran the scheduled task manually. It made it to 25% and was stuck for 24 hours. So I terminated the task, and I had to restart the server to get it to stop. I then kicked it off again yesterday. It made it to 19% and froze. I just stopped it again. Anyone having an issue downloading the Local Movie Theme Videos? Any ideas?
  8. Hello. I'm very new to Emby (and self hosted media in general) so I apologize if this is just typical user error. I'm trying to setup an Emby server to host my home movies and photos. Setting up a library with the "Home videos & photos" and viewing everything on my Apple TV was comically easy. The only issue I have right now is when I select a photo in an album, and then start swiping my way through the album, the videos in that same folder/album get skipped. I have to back out to the album and manually pick a video for it to play. Once the video is finished, I then have to back out to the album again, select the next photo, and begin swiping anew. The other self-hosted options I'm playing with (Apple Home Share and Plex) allow to play a video as I swiping through (to middling success). While the video is playing, the arrow buttons scrub the video. Once the video is stopped, the arrow buttons go back to swiping through photos and videos. One thing to note is that Apple Home Share seems to only display a thumbnail without any other indication that the "photo" you're looking at is actually a video. Having a big old play button on top of the thumbnail like Plex makes for a more intuitive experience. Looking at the Web UI, it seems to at least let me see the video while swiping through, but they're just thumbnails. I can't seem to play the video without backing out like the Apple TV. Since I'm able to view all of the content, I don't think this has anything to do with the server side of things, but let me know if there's anything I can provide to help describe this issue.
  9. @Luke Please download and check this MKV file (on my Proton drive). It crashes. This used to play fine on my iPad Pro. Nothing copyrighted. It’s a UHD LG TV demo file. https://drive.proton.me/urls/G4KEK4X09W#TvIlAkS8Qo3m (Link expires in two days). Edit: after reporting this, the file above played fine although it crashed Emby the 6/7 times I tried to play it before! The other MKV file still crashes. Not sure what’s going on. @brentpkennedycan you dload and try the linked file please.
  10. Perhaps it's time too : Please tell us the time (in logs) when this happens... (and has everything been rebooted? (server, client(get your dad to unplug the USB power supply), both routers and/or modems on both ends)? Edit: are you using a reverse proxy??

Thank you for the reply. So I unticked "Allow video transcoding" under user settings and I was getting a playback error - No compatible streams are currently available. Please try again later or contact your system administrator for details. When I enable it's not transcoding properly because of the Profile 5 issue you mentioned. In that case if I'm only using web and android app for now, should I avoid downloading any DV videos? or will it be resolved in future releases?

Yet Another Skipping/rewinding movie only on Roku

Circling back to this. I can say with confidence that this happens with the majority of the files that I have. You're saying that this is a problem with Roku, and yet I ran Plex on Roku for years and had none of these issues. So it seems to me that Emby is the problem. And even if repackaging this solves the issue, I'm not going to repackage all of my files. So out of curiosity, is this something you all are actually going to troubleshoot? Or is this something I just need to decide to live with or not? Because it happens with nearly every single file, and predictably happens almost 100% of the time after I pause and then begin playing again.
  13. Now that you've mentioned it, I've tried multiple MKV files. With one of them the app crashes when it starts playing and no matter how many times I try, it does the same. This particular one was played multiple times before the update with no problems. A few others (MKV) played fine.

You'll probably want to switch it to an open port - So you are using 80:80 now probably? I use 8080:80. I am sending you a PM.

I just deleted the container and redid it on port 80 and I can open the x.x.x:80 and I get the page with the playlist link and the epg link that I used to add as a source in channels dvr, in which I can watch the channels as we speak

  20. I also seem to be having this issue on an iPhone 15 Pro running the latest version of the app. I tried reinstalling as suggested above but it didn't work. It only seems to be happening with one show from what I can tell. embyserver.txt

I have several other live tv sources from the web that are working fine. ill look into the log file tomorrow, I’ll have to make a search to find out where to find it.

It's just a matter of changing the extension while saving it or even after it's saved. Do you have any other sources in Channels that you have successfully added to Emby? TVE? HDHomeRun? Can you post the EmbyServer log using the link (sanitizes it for you) from inside Emby? (after an attempt to add the M3U)

I can download the file from that link as well. And the source in channels dvr is indeed named M3U-plutotv When I try to add the live tv source I still get the same error. When I download the file I get it as m3u8 format, and it won't play in vlc, do I need to convert the file? If so how?
