    Notifications not working reliably

Okay, here's a breakdown of what happened. I've set up a webhook script through 'notifications' to log changes in my library and playback info. This worked fine until I started making big changes to the library; I've been replacing my 720p series with 1080p versions. I've overwritten the old files with the updates ones, kept the filenames. The library itself updates fine, the notifications that should follow behave erratically. For every episode I expect 2 entries; one for removing (the old), one for adding (the new). It is notable that for episodes that DO get notifications, I always get both 'removed' and 'added', so at least that is consistent. Here's a summary of what happened May 31 (first big changes): * "The Office (US)": replaced 9 seasons, 185 episodes - NO ISSUES: Notifications for every episode (one for adding, one for removing) - "The Good Place": replaced 4 seasons, 50 episodes - NO ISSUES: Notifications for every episode (one for adding, one for removing) June 3: * "The Bridge (2011)": replaced 4 seasons, 38 episodes - NO ISSUES: Notifications for every episode (one for adding, one for removing) June 4: * "His Dark Materials": replaced 3 seasons, 23 episodes - ISSUE: No notifications for season 1 episodes 1 to 4 - ISSUE: All other episodes were reported TWICE (two for adding, two for removing) * "The Dark Crystal: Age Of Resistance": replaced 1 season, 10 episodes - ISSUE: Notifications ONLY for episode 6 and 7 (one for adding, one for removing) June 9: * "Rick and Morty": replaced 7 seasons, 71 episodes - ISSUE: No notifications for all of season 1, season 2, season 6 and season 7 - ISSUE: Season 3 only first episode (one for adding, one for removing) - ISSUE: Season 4 only episodes 6 to 10 (one for adding, one for removing) - Season 5 was the only season reported in full (one for adding, one for removing) July 5: * "Family Guy": replaced 20 seasons, 387 episodes - To summarize: First 5 seasons NO ISSUE, from there on lots of missed episodes, notifications for last 3 seasons missing completely * "American Dad!": replaced 20 seasons, 366 episodes - ONLY 6 episodes out of 366 got reported. I could go on, I've replaced many more since then, not one of them getting all the notifications they should have (up to "The Walking Dead" that I replaced yesterday, getting just 1 episode notification out of 177 eps) I've attached a log of yesterday. Look for 'emby.php' where my webhook is called. There are a few playback notifications in there too (those still work fine) embyserver.txt
  3. Hi, I'm running Emby on a D923+ Synology NAS and tried to download the Trailers plugin, but instead of the section working, it created a new folder in the main section (near movies, shows, music, etc.). What am I doing wrong? Also, the green link does not direct to the plugin, but instead to the catalog.

  6. When choosing the best cloud storage for video streaming, it really depends on your goals—whether you're storing content for personal access, offering on-demand video to a global audience, or building a full-fledged streaming platform. For general use, Amazon S3, Google Cloud Storage, and Microsoft Azure Blob Storage are highly reliable. They offer scalability, low latency, and CDN integration to ensure smooth playback. However, they’re just the storage part—you’ll still need additional tools for transcoding, DRM, monetization, and frontend delivery. If you're looking for an all-in-one solution specifically for video streaming, platforms like VPlayed are worth considering. VPlayed not only provides secure cloud streaming but also handles end-to-end video delivery, including encoding, adaptive streaming, monetization models (like SVOD, AVOD, TVOD), and analytics. It’s a customizable solution tailored for creators, broadcasters, and businesses looking to launch their own video streaming service.

IPTV playback stable with Threadfin and hls-proxy

Dispatchaar is the most stable and flexible setup I’ve found so far, plus it’s being actively developed with a new release every few weeks. That may be good or bad depending on how you see it. The downside is channel startup time, it is slower than the others but I prefer that over the freezing of channels and mess other setups create. The other issue I have is there’s no scalable solution for vod content yet, it’s in their roadmap. Setting it all up depends on how you want to use it. The more effort you put into organising everything at the start the more time and headache you’ll save later. For me it’s where in import my playlist into. I select which groups I want imported, everything else gets ignored. Groups you select get put into a stream ‘staging’ area. So from this stream list you have to create channels, these are what are ultimately exposed to emby. The channel name corresponds to the stream name and you can edit the channel name directly. The main standout feature of Dispatchaar is you can add multiple streams to a single channel. The benefit is you make it easier for users who only see one channel and Dispatchaar should switch streams automatically however you can manually do this through the GUI too. You can duplicate channels with different stream orders and put them in different profiles for different emby accounts if you wished… Pooling of accounts works great, so if you have multiple accounts with the same provider you can set Dispatchaar to use then in sequence, the GUI will show which account is being used for which stream. EPG integration is great, but not needed. I import my EPG and auto matching or channels is pretty good but you can always override it. This way when you import into emby channel numbers and epg are how you set them. There’s a lot more it can do with regard to transcoding profiles, streaming profiles, you can even set individual channels to direct play, with different user agents. Downsides of Dispatchaar. VOD is a big one for me, I would prefer an easier way to proxy them, for now you have to import each item as a channel, I tried to import a few thousand items and it killed my instance. HLS Proxy is better in this regard as it automatically creates a proxied M3U of your entire playlist which you can manipulate and import into emby using other tools. GUI - once you log out and log back in the GUI will take a minute or two to repopulate with your configuration. Not sure why this is the case. It just makes wanting a Quick Look at the stats a bit annoying as you have to wait. Plus sometimes the load caused by the playlist import can cause connection issues, but this is likely my weak server I have it running on. Channel Management - changing channel positions and numbering is a bit clunky. You need to plan ahead and know which channels you want where. Plus you can’t have a gap in the numbering, any new channel you create gets added to the next free channel number. There is a profile feature where channels can be put into different M3U’s but I find it frustrating. Granular Controls - there’s not many streaming parameters you can configure when compared to HLS Proxy, but so far I’ve not had to amend anything. My channels play for hours on end without interruption.

Since I have no problems with any of these films, what I'd be interested to see is details of your folder structure and file naming, and what metadata providers you have selected and in what order. Paul

    MXF Support

The video below (MXF, 1080p50 MPEG2 @ 50Mbps, 2 discreet PCM channels) plays fine on my TV (bought in 2023) with Android OS using direct play. The same is also true for my Android Phone (Samsung a54/ Android 15). There is no change in container necessary, the app plays MXF out of the box, no transcoding. On the browser there's a change of container and transcoding of both audio and video. On the Windows app it shows HLS for the container, plays the video stream without transcoding but transcodes the PCM audio.

Nice! I will be a little more careful next time i clean up. I removed the refresh icon button from the settings for now, it didn't work optimally so made it so people will have to restart the server instead when changing the icons in the folder. I'm planning on reintroducing the button again when i have a better solution. Getting the rating isn't a problem, it's having to be able to support all of them. If i add one then people will understandably want the rating for their country as well, so i will have to add all of them. Afaik. some countries use symbols for their ratings so it would have to be icon supported as well. It's ofc. not impossible, so i will look into it.

I can confirm: preview is back again Is it normal that the point with refreshing the icons isn't available anymore? Yeah maybe a pt smaller in the font would already be good - else we will stay with the square version Parental rating is difficult - I always adapted them on Plex to just have 1 version as I had the american ones, german and french ones that made a mess I thought maybe somewhere out there is a database to have them all or it would be possible to simply get the info out of the nfo file or the Emby library and than display it as text just like the rating - but as I'm not a developer I don't really now what is possible - I do sometimes Web Dev but that's sometimes easier than the rest

The preview not working was me having pressed delete once to many when cleaning up the code. Many thanks for reporting it!! It should work in this version. I have been looking into parental rating before, problem is there are so many different parental ratings and it would be hard to support them all. I will add it to my todo list that i should look at it again, no promises it will be made. Yeah the background for the rating isn't perfect. I might need to make the font size a bit smaller to fit into the circle, i can't make the circle bigger as it would ruin how the scaling works on the icons. EmbyIcons.dll

IPTV playback stable with Threadfin and hls-proxy

I’m using ‘hls-proxy-8.4.8.linux-x64’ from what I think is the main hls-proxy site. I’ve never tried any of the other forks or implementations. My use case was probably a lot simpler than others here, I had two instances running, one where I was simply passing though HLS to emby, and the other where I was converting mpeg streams to HLS.The account pooling feature is also very powerful. I would also recommend Dispatchaar instead, it’s actively in development and does most of what HLS Proxy does but has features HLS Proxy doesn’t. I only use HLS Proxy for vod content now, still haven’t found something that works for my setup.

I'm testing your new versions and I saw 2 things for now: The preview isn't loading in the settings And as far as I can remember: weren't the icons also showing on the smaller images on the frontpage within the libraries - I maybe wrong - I wanted to test it with the older version but as I don't know if that would mess up anything I prefered not to go back Correction: When refreshing the collection/metadata the icons reappears - so maybe just a caching issue - I just saw it as I had a network issue (my Emby server looks for the movie files on a NAS) and one library had to be refreshed from scrap And last but not least - for the icon from the rating - a bit larger I think would be better You see - I took red as background so that it is more visible - some numbers are going slightly over the dot (with the square this isn't the case

Emby Misinterpreting a Folder as a TV Series.

Thanks for the fast reply! The unusual thing about this issue is that the problem didn't exist a week ago - it was only in the last day or so that the entire folder of movies started being misidentified as the 'Future Kid Takara' series (which is not a series I have ever heard of or have anywhere on the media centre). However, once the 'Kids Movies' folder started being misidentified as this, regardless of how I added the folder to the Library or where I moved the folder to across multiple drives - it always shows as 'Future Kid Takara'. I will keep experimenting with adding the folder to the library and see if I can find a solution!

background image on the login page, is it possible?

Is there a way to direct it at a locally hosted file? I like the idea and the simplicity but I don't want to rely on an external image host nor setup another host just to serve one image.

Just to add to this topic if anyone else runs into this issue. I was having the exact error as Airbender when trying to authenticate trakt premium with a fresh Premiere install. It ended up working when turning off Tailscale as Luke mentioned in this thread above (turn off VPNs). Note though, that i did not get the usual "Wohoo! Your device is now successfully connected to trakt". It just stayed same page with the 'next step' button greyed out. I confirmed it via the 'Connected Apps' page on trakt and then the emby logs.

    The dreaded .ASS files problem.

Good evening friends, I hate to post about what appears to be a nightmare topic from past forum posts, but I just wanted to know if there is any real solution at this point in time? If not, well, not to be dramatic, but it's probably a deal break for me, sadly, simply because my entire home system is Roku ultras for ease of use. =/ In short, is there a way to get ass files to work and not buffer terribly in Emby? I know in plex it was weird but straight forward with Rokus once you knew how. You needed to go into the Roku settings, set captions to OFF, and then set playback burn-in to automatic. The result is a very slight 2-3 second delay at the start of a video with the % wheel loading rapidly and then it basically runs the ass file perfectly. In the case of Emby I have done the same process. Using the latest Roku ultra model, I have set captions to off, Emby Roku app settings set to yes for Burn in SSA subtitles, and while this seems to, in generous terms "work", the performance result is unusable. The wheel loads for about a minute, it begins to work with the ass format but stutters and then freezes and buffers back to the wheel. I am unsure what causes this. Is Emby perhaps trying to burn-in via the Roku box and its weak cpu vs using the server's much stronger intel core or something of that nature? Or is there perhaps critical setting I need to tweak in Emby that I have overlooked which wouldn't shock me either? (I have been unable to locate the "Allow subtitle extraction on the fly" setting I have read about not sure if that still exists). Either way, I would appreciate any info, and if you need anyone from me, I will try to provide it. And worst-case scenario, I guess I will just have to keep my eyes peeled for a future update that fixes the issue for now.
