The video below (MXF, 1080p50 MPEG2 @ 50Mbps, 2 discreet PCM channels) plays fine on my TV (bought in 2023) with Android OS using direct play. The same is also true for my Android Phone (Samsung a54/ Android 15). There is no change in container necessary, the app plays MXF out of the box, no transcoding. On the browser there's a change of container and transcoding of both audio and video. On the Windows app it shows HLS for the container, plays the video stream without transcoding but transcodes the PCM audio.

Nice! I will be a little more careful next time i clean up. I removed the refresh icon button from the settings for now, it didn't work optimally so made it so people will have to restart the server instead when changing the icons in the folder. I'm planning on reintroducing the button again when i have a better solution. Getting the rating isn't a problem, it's having to be able to support all of them. If i add one then people will understandably want the rating for their country as well, so i will have to add all of them. Afaik. some countries use symbols for their ratings so it would have to be icon supported as well. It's ofc. not impossible, so i will look into it.

I can confirm: preview is back again Is it normal that the point with refreshing the icons isn't available anymore? Yeah maybe a pt smaller in the font would already be good - else we will stay with the square version Parental rating is difficult - I always adapted them on Plex to just have 1 version as I had the american ones, german and french ones that made a mess I thought maybe somewhere out there is a database to have them all or it would be possible to simply get the info out of the nfo file or the Emby library and than display it as text just like the rating - but as I'm not a developer I don't really now what is possible - I do sometimes Web Dev but that's sometimes easier than the rest

The preview not working was me having pressed delete once to many when cleaning up the code. Many thanks for reporting it!! It should work in this version. I have been looking into parental rating before, problem is there are so many different parental ratings and it would be hard to support them all. I will add it to my todo list that i should look at it again, no promises it will be made. Yeah the background for the rating isn't perfect. I might need to make the font size a bit smaller to fit into the circle, i can't make the circle bigger as it would ruin how the scaling works on the icons. EmbyIcons.dll

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

I’m using ‘hls-proxy-8.4.8.linux-x64’ from what I think is the main hls-proxy site. I’ve never tried any of the other forks or implementations. My use case was probably a lot simpler than others here, I had two instances running, one where I was simply passing though HLS to emby, and the other where I was converting mpeg streams to HLS.The account pooling feature is also very powerful. I would also recommend Dispatchaar instead, it’s actively in development and does most of what HLS Proxy does but has features HLS Proxy doesn’t. I only use HLS Proxy for vod content now, still haven’t found something that works for my setup.

I'm testing your new versions and I saw 2 things for now: The preview isn't loading in the settings And as far as I can remember: weren't the icons also showing on the smaller images on the frontpage within the libraries - I maybe wrong - I wanted to test it with the older version but as I don't know if that would mess up anything I prefered not to go back Correction: When refreshing the collection/metadata the icons reappears - so maybe just a caching issue - I just saw it as I had a network issue (my Emby server looks for the movie files on a NAS) and one library had to be refreshed from scrap And last but not least - for the icon from the rating - a bit larger I think would be better You see - I took red as background so that it is more visible - some numbers are going slightly over the dot (with the square this isn't the case

Hi A small question - would it be possible to integrate an option to display the rating? So if it is from 12 years or 16 display that?

The issue is the plugin is broken or outdated

Emby Misinterpreting a Folder as a TV Series.
Kev Vader replied to Kev Vader's topic in General/Windows
Thanks for the fast reply! The unusual thing about this issue is that the problem didn't exist a week ago - it was only in the last day or so that the entire folder of movies started being misidentified as the 'Future Kid Takara' series (which is not a series I have ever heard of or have anywhere on the media centre). However, once the 'Kids Movies' folder started being misidentified as this, regardless of how I added the folder to the Library or where I moved the folder to across multiple drives - it always shows as 'Future Kid Takara'. I will keep experimenting with adding the folder to the library and see if I can find a solution! -
Just to add to that I also used safari, I seemed to have no success with firefox. Also emby didnt show up on the 'connected apps' until I played some content on emby.

background image on the login page, is it possible?
Baenwort replied to gueburah's topic in Web App CSS
Is there a way to direct it at a locally hosted file? I like the idea and the simplicity but I don't want to rely on an external image host nor setup another host just to serve one image. -
I don't have VPN
-
Just to add to this topic if anyone else runs into this issue. I was having the exact error as Airbender when trying to authenticate trakt premium with a fresh Premiere install. It ended up working when turning off Tailscale as Luke mentioned in this thread above (turn off VPNs). Note though, that i did not get the usual "Wohoo! Your device is now successfully connected to trakt". It just stayed same page with the 'next step' button greyed out. I confirmed it via the 'Connected Apps' page on trakt and then the emby logs.

ServerNoob005 started following The dreaded .ASS files problem.
-
Good evening friends, I hate to post about what appears to be a nightmare topic from past forum posts, but I just wanted to know if there is any real solution at this point in time? If not, well, not to be dramatic, but it's probably a deal break for me, sadly, simply because my entire home system is Roku ultras for ease of use. =/ In short, is there a way to get ass files to work and not buffer terribly in Emby? I know in plex it was weird but straight forward with Rokus once you knew how. You needed to go into the Roku settings, set captions to OFF, and then set playback burn-in to automatic. The result is a very slight 2-3 second delay at the start of a video with the % wheel loading rapidly and then it basically runs the ass file perfectly. In the case of Emby I have done the same process. Using the latest Roku ultra model, I have set captions to off, Emby Roku app settings set to yes for Burn in SSA subtitles, and while this seems to, in generous terms "work", the performance result is unusable. The wheel loads for about a minute, it begins to work with the ass format but stutters and then freezes and buffers back to the wheel. I am unsure what causes this. Is Emby perhaps trying to burn-in via the Roku box and its weak cpu vs using the server's much stronger intel core or something of that nature? Or is there perhaps critical setting I need to tweak in Emby that I have overlooked which wouldn't shock me either? (I have been unable to locate the "Allow subtitle extraction on the fly" setting I have read about not sure if that still exists). Either way, I would appreciate any info, and if you need anyone from me, I will try to provide it. And worst-case scenario, I guess I will just have to keep my eyes peeled for a future update that fixes the issue for now.

New WIN app - peak brightness of the display setting doesn't do anything
generiq replied to Mahinepua's topic in Windows & Xbox
Okey dokey. So, color management is what this is all primarily about when HDR is enabled. What was happening previously is that the compositor was making most of the decisions, and was generally making a mess. SDR when in SDR is pretty straightforward, so the issue was/is with the Windows HDR compositor. mpv is now taking control of what happens. target-peak when set higher than 203 now only effects luma. Prior to this, the primaries would also be set. This invariably lead to gamut expansion. Now, that expansion only happens if you enable inverse-tone-mapping. In my case, target-peak=auto results in 371. So I get a nice boost in contrast with no change to the colors. On other systems it will vary depending on the probing of your system and if a number can be found. In which case I think it defaults 1000, but I'm not certain of that. This actually might be a good reason to have an SDR target-peak and an HDR target-peak provided. Currently softworkz is disallowing any taget peak to set for SDR, but now target-peak is set to auto by default. So if it is to remain the same, a value of 203 would need to be forced. I think it better to have an option in the settings and just default it to 203. That way if anyone wants a little more contrast in SDR media when Windows HDR is enabled, they can raise the peak to their liking. This is what I do and will continue to do. Because the picture is amazballs! I would also advocate for adding the inverse-tone-mapping option. Also, hdr-compute-peak is now a good option to use. If this is as clear as mud, ask questions -
Bug with Emby server homescreen after setting up on NAS

It's not a particularly old NAS. And was only set up with a fresh install recently. So far no problems with Edge so just using that solely for NAS/Emby work atm -

Some movies not showing up in Emby- Round 2
ServerNoob005 replied to ServerNoob005's topic in General/Windows
Hey @Luke Thanks for your patience. Sure thing. To restate it. Emby can find the movie and play the movie if it misidentifies it. If I fix it, it only shows up in folders and its empty. So: If I call the movie folder "Redline (2010)" it will find the movie. It will misidentify it as a 2007 live action film, but it will run the mkv I provided. So to fix it, I hit the tree dot, go to identify, select the correct match, press okay to overwrite, and.... Poof. It's gone in the Movies section. If you go to folders, however, you can find it...it's just empty: Hope that clears it up, and sorry if this is too many images-- just trying to being thorough is all. -
New WIN app - peak brightness of the display setting doesn't do anything
generiq replied to Mahinepua's topic in Windows & Xbox
Ok, so i was just testing the effects of target-peak with HDR disabled and no peak set (defaults to 203), and played an SDR video. Then tested the same video and set target-peak=15. As expected, the image was brighter at 15. This is what you want, yes? So what could be done is when HDR is enabled, allow target-peak only for HDR media (this might change based on the new updates. Still checking that). But when HDR is disabled, allow it to operate universally. Then the brightness of tone-mapped HDR media and SDR media should closely match. Having one setting for HDR and another for SDR doesn't make sense. You understand that target-peak is for display luminance and not color. I think this would be reasonable and fairly easy to implement. It doesn't effect HDR playback. -
Can't connect with the Android app via my domain (access via browser with the same domain works fine)
LordVZlomka posted a topic in Synology
Hi, I'm running Emby on my DS923+ Synology NAS. I use cloudflare zero trust tunnels. I can access Emby via browser with my domain, but the Android app displays a connection error. I recently migrated from Jellyfin, and the same setup worked perfectly fine. -
Hi, on the main page, along the Movies, Shows, and Music, a new folder is automatically created named "Collections". I can rename any folder except the "Collections" by right-clicking and selecting "Rename". In the Collections folder settings, the option is missing, along with many others.

New WIN app - peak brightness of the display setting doesn't do anything
generiq replied to Mahinepua's topic in Windows & Xbox
Color profile? SDR stuff can't be being tone-mapped. That would be inverse tonemapping and you have HDR disabled. So we're talking about HDR stuff only? Or do you want to control the luminance of everything? -
New WIN app - peak brightness of the display setting doesn't do anything
Mahinepua replied to Mahinepua's topic in Windows & Xbox
Yes and for each color profile. Not just for a projector but for TV`s also. All content is being tone mapped. I already have the ability to do this by sticking with the electron version, there is no advantage using the new app.
