Select Default Audio & Subtitle Tracks for the entire library
Luke replied to LordVZlomka's topic in Feature Requests
Hi, yes it makes sense and has been requested before. -
HI, yes it's an interesting idea, but platform guidelines usually suggest limiting that to 5. I know that recently some mainstream apps have started cramming a lot more down there so there is precedent for more than just the usual amount, but I don't know that I've seen scrolling there before.

Smooth Library Scrolling on Tizen‑based Smart TVs
Luke replied to LordVZlomka's topic in Feature Requests
No, not necessarily. Maybe they developed something custom whereas we are relying entirely on native features. Also those apps you listed are probably Samsung partner apps and therefore have access to api's that we do not. -
OK can you please temporarily enable debug logging in the server logs section, then repeat the problem, and then attach the debug log? Thanks.

Pages instead of infinite scroll when media content is 100+
LordVZlomka replied to LordVZlomka's topic in Feature Requests
There is nothing wrong with it. I personally would use a page setup for large libraries. An option to choose would be cool. -

Smooth Library Scrolling on Tizen‑based Smart TVs

Samsung UN65RU8000FXZA. Other apps like YouTube, Netflix, etc, do not have an issue. If it were the engine, wouldn't everything be affected? -

Hi, what’s wrong with the infinite scroll? We used to page a long time ago before the infinite scroll was developed. -
LordVZlomka started following Smooth Library Scrolling on Tizen‑based Smart TVs , Auto‑Rotate Backdrops in Collection‑Style Libraries , Pages instead of infinite scroll when media content is 100+ and 3 others
-
I love the backdrop rotation in Movies/TV, but Collections, Music, and Audiobooks stay static when they lack a custom image. If no image is set, let Emby randomly pick and cycle through backdrops from the items within, so those sections stay dynamic.

Hi, what model Samsung? This is already there but is dependent on the supported features of the TV rendering engine. -

Scrolling through hundreds of items in one endless list feels slow. Maybe add a setting where the user can specify the amount of media per page or disable it. -
Select Default Audio & Subtitle Tracks for the entire library
LordVZlomka posted a topic in Feature Requests
In my bilingual collection, manually picking my preferred track each time is tedious. Please add a setting to automatically select, for example, English audio and subtitles for the entire library, and if the user wants, to they can select the secondary tracks with other languages. -
On my Android app, the bottom bar only shows Home, Movies, Collections, Downloads, and Search. I’d like to add TV, Music, and Audiobooks—and make the bar scrollable so all of them can fit.
-
I love cloning basic preferences between profiles, but I still have to set up display layouts, Home‑screen widgets, subtitle defaults, notifications, and profile pictures manually. Let me copy all of those at once so new users instantly get my preferred setup.

I have a Samsung Smart TV running Tizen OS. As I scroll through my media folders, I noticed that the scroll behavior is "jumpy" instead of smooth. Please add smooth scroll to TVs?

Talkworks started following Editing Metadata for Audiobooks
-
So, firstly what do you use to edit the metadata for Audio books? Hmm, it sounds like Emby looks at the Metadata in an Audiobook (e.g. MP3) and that overrides the file structure? Does it expect certain ID3 tags for Audio Books - Like the reader of the audiobook (Narrator? Reader? Actor?) or the Series (if it is a book in a series)? I have read, https://emby.media/support/articles/Audio-Book-Naming.html I have something called Tag Editor 2 (and Audiobook Builder) but I haven't tried it with Emby yet. Emby has done a fine job with most of the Audiobooks I've loaded but is having trouble with Stephen King's, The Dark Tower VII. This particular collection of stories (The Dark Tower VII) is divided into Parts (1-8), each with a name, and each part has 1 or more chapters, also with a name. I have set up the file structure within a Library called Audiobooks as follows; Author\Book Name\Part # - Part Name\Chapter # - Chapter Name.mp3. I see as I'm writing this that some of the Part Names have dashes in them and this might be messing up Emby, e.g., Part 1 - The Little Red King - Dan-tete\ Chapter 1 - Callahan and the Vampires.mp3 \Chapter 2 - Lifted on the Wave.mp3 \Chapter 3 - Eddie Makes a Call.mp3 Hmm, maybe this is problematic, with the dashes and a ' (e.g., Part 3 - In This Haze of Green and Gold - Ves’-Ka Gan)? Dan PS I have an older QNAP NAS and I'm thinking of replacing it because it can't do transcoding - where might I post a question about recommendations related to an Emby friendly media server?

A-Z search would really be great

When using Google Home to pause media screensaver will not stop on resume.
Gilgamesh_48 replied to carbonbaseunit's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Yet another reason to not use screen savers. I do not use them. If an app needs to automagically pause a blank screen is the best way. But I only use that on my phone as lighting up the screen takes energy so reduces battery life. For devices that are plugged into external power screensavers are nothing but fluff. Of course "fluff" is sometimes pretty but I watch content not the interface or screensavers. But screensavers should always be a user choice and should ALWAYS go completely away on the first user interaction. -
Yes, No A-Z search Dolby vision, thumb view. should have been top priority.
-
Pretty disappointing major release
-
Nice to see Emby for Apple TV getting some attention, but it still lacks A-Z search, Dolby vision, thumb view.
-
If Plex does it then it is probably wrong, somehow.
-
Thanks for following up.

On Emby Android for Nvidia Shield, Should I update to Emby Android TV App??
Sammy replied to Rew452's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
First off, the developers have been pushing the standard android app for years now. At first I was reluctant but then changed because the standard app supports theme videos but have found this to be just eye candy and am going to put the android TV app front and center and move the standard app to the side because of playback issues. I'll continue to test but am going to stop is using the standard app as the daily driver. I've had both installed side by side for a couple years now so they can both be used without issue. -

Subtitles are all over the place when pausing/resuming and skipping forwards/backwards
Lessaj replied to bjerne's topic in General/Windows
I think dvbsub require transcoding so they get burned in regardless, I encountered a few of them when I was combing through my media and converting everything to SRT and I was not able to use SubtitleEdit from the command line to convert them like you can with vobsub/pgs/aas/ssa because all the timings were getting lost. I had to load the video in SubtitleEdit GUI and run the OCR on them in order to convert them. Check if the server is transcoding videos with those subtitles, it probably is, so they're being burned into the video.
