Emby Server 3.0.5807 Beta Released

Luke

5049 views

This beta is mainly targeted towards Windows users.

Emby Server is now able to run as a 64-bit process on Windows.

Important Note

After updating you will see an admin prompt to install the Microsoft Visual C++ 2013 runtime, if you do not already have it installed.

When running as a process is it able to automatically update itself? I seem to recall this being an issue in previous builds.

Does iso mounting work with this release?

I thought I saw over in the Dev forum that it didn't.

If so, I will need to start working an alternate solution to use 3D MVC mkv rather than Blu-ray iso.

Thanks.

does 64bit add any benefits over older 32bit? I am asking  for a friend :)

For the most part no. There are some users who feel they need it so this will make them happy.

I was the user who inquired about the lack of support for ISO mounting in x64 version. I had to downgrade to a version without x64 support. I have a large collection (>100) of 3D blurays that I have saved as ISO as there is no other way to play them with menu and extras support. I really wish that x64 version supports ISO mounting or the installer allows the user to choose between x32 or x64 versions.

So what 32 bit version number are you using and where did you aquire it? I too have 3D iso's as there's no other adequate player with remote control other than TMT5 AFAIK.

I'm looking int 3D MVC mkv playback using mpc-be and shark007 codecs but no one but shark007 has given any information over at avsforums.

It's important to understand what this means so that mis-information isn't spread. This does not affect your ability to mount and play iso's from our HTPS apps such as Emby for WMC, Emby for Kodi, etc. This only affects the server's ability to mount iso's for transcoding purposes to devices like Roku, the web client, etc.

It would be nice to be able to do that still but not really necessary. If I watch a 3D movie it is in 3D on the Panny Plasma and not on the Master Bedroom or outside TV or mobile device for that matter..

I woke up this morning with 3.0.5808.0, BTW:

Over on the help screen it says 3.0.5785.0 and Pismo File Mount is installed:

So how do I verify what version I am on and how do I tell if it is 32 or 64 bit?

Thanks.

I am on Version 3.0.5800.3 Beta and have disabled the auto update and check for updates in scheduled task. I did this when this version was latest beta. Since both beta and dev branches are now updated with 64-bit version, I think now you'll have to go to Stable release and download the last version, which I think still is only 32-bit. From that point though you are stuck (as I am) as updating to a newer version will break the ISO function.

That's true, but that essentially means no ISO support for those clients. However the biggest problem I have is that ISO mounting wasn't working for MBT, which is where you'll need ISO mounted to be played by TMT in your home theater with a 3D display/projector. I don't know about new MBT, but it's not ready yet for my purpose.

I have had several updates and am on 3.0.5813.0 now. Is there a change log someplace?
