Optimal size for images

Why I got confused is it is hit or miss as to whether the schedules use the NPVR images or the Emby library images. I can't find a pattern to it. I have no idea how it chooses what images to use.

For Flash, I see the image in the NPVR folder and not in the Emby library. But for Outlander, the scheduled image is different in the NPVR folder, but it is the thumb image in the Emby library. But if you open the schedule it does show the NPVR image.

So the question still is. What determines which images are used in the schedules? It is not necessarily the one from the NPVR schedule.

If the guide data hasn't provided a thumb image, then it searches your library for series folders with the same provider ids as the program from the guide data. I'm going to guess that the next pvr plugin is not providing thumb images but I really don't know. However, it is strange because i would also guess that the next pvr data is also not supplying provider ids, which means that wouldn't happen.

So if i had to guess I think this is the primary image from the guide data for that program entry. Without fully diving in though it's difficult to say.

I don't see any thumb images, even though it is selected to download, in NPVR.

Still confusing. Sometimes Emby uses the NPVR primary image, and sometime the library thumb image. Even though the primary image is there for all shows in NPVR.

And what is even stranger, If you tell NPVR not to download the images, and clear all images from NPVR. You get no images at all in the schedule even though some of them previously came from the Emby library. So obviously NPVR is not supplying the provider ids because Emby does not know what images to use. Even though it seems to know when the images are available in NPVR, sometimes.

Maybe Emby doesn't like some of the images coming from NPVR and then substitutes its own. And the provider id is attached to the image transfer.

Would you happen to know if the naming of NextPVR's images matters, in that there might be art available but its not identified as a 'thumb' in the name...

e.g. for Ellen DeGeneres .fanart and .landscape seen to be thumb shaped but The Ellen DeGeneres Show (no extension) is portrait and that seems to be the one being used under my Schedule (and its squashed to thumb shape)...

This i can explain. We used to look for Series in your library with the same name and try to use your library images, however there were complaints of this happening in some cases when it shouldn't be, so I changed this to be more strict and only match it based on provider ids between the guide data and your Series. I'm assuming the next pvr guide data doesn't supply those provider id's, therefore those correlations from guide to library will never happen and the only images you will ever see in the the schedule will be guide data images.
