Beta - Should NextPVR Live TV be working?

I've been experiencing this issue as well, for about a week now. I know I had channels working before, even had tested pausing live TV. I can get the guide to work just fine, but I also get the spinning dashes when trying to start a live stream. I have 29 channels with NextPVR connected to a 4 tuner Hauppauge card. Not sure how to do the logs but I'll be happy to figure it out and upload if needed.

Edit: meant to add I just upgraded to 20 and tried it with the same results.

Edit 2: Just sent you the logs (12:20 central). I did have to completely back out of Emby first.

Your log does not appear to include a playback attempt.

Something is obviously up with NextPVR here but I don't know what yet.

I use nextpvr, cant say I use the guide much, I just updated and it all seems to work for me.  It pops up instantly.

@@ebr, ok I played with NextPVR a bit and deleted my # of channels down to 16..updated the EPG with just those 16, and now the Emby Beta loads after a few seconds. So clearly my 176 channels had so much metadata I'm guessing that it was taking the app forever to load.

However a live stream of a channel still does the same thing - spinning dashes.

I sent you another log in an effort to help, server is BIGFLOSS2 and I attempted to tune to the channel at 11:17:00

Thanks!

Just to follow up on this..as I've played with this from my end for several days.

NextPVR guide issue: I changed Emby's Live TV setting for how many days of guide data to download to "auto"..and it pulls ~7 days now instead of 14, and while I usually still have to wait a few seconds upon launching the Beta Preview app, my guide loads now.

As far as playing live streams, I found a workaround.  Every live channel in NPVR has a local URL you could use to play a stream (i.e. through VLC player etc)..in my case it's http://localhost:PORT/live?channel=X where PORT is my NextPVR port and X is the channel number you've mapped in NextPVR (so i.e.,

http://localhost:8868/live?channel=2 will launch a local stream of my NextPVR's channel 2).  I built a .m3u playlist with URLs and added that as a tuner in Emby Live TV under Tuner Devices..here's an example of my .m3u file:

#EXTM3U

#EXTINF:-1 channel-id="290",Laff

That maps my NextPVR channel 18 to Emby channel 290 and plays just fine.
You have to play a bit with mapping Schedules Direct or whatever guide provider you use - but this is a way to make it work.

I realize the purpose of our back and forth is to help iron out issues with the Beta and I'm happy to still help with trying the NextPVR plugin, just lemme know - I've deleted it for now but don't want to give up on it entirely - but in the meantime found all this out through some trial and error.

Thanks!

Thanks for reporting back.

We're going to have to figure out why the app is having trouble playing through NPVR.  Once it rolls out to the masses, I imagine we'll get some more help with that :).

Iv posted already (and notwithstanding that emby will shortly officially hupport my HDHR Dual tuners natively), I would like to say my guide / llive TV on netpvr plugin to my Roku has worked - but I have hardly ever used it - we record and timeshift almost everything.

I only have about 12 channels configured on my nextPVR system - in Australia, we are third world when it comes to broadcast TV and there are only about 20 channels in total - I remove the rubbish ones from NextPVR and find I only need 12 channels in total, and with a bit of editing in nextpvr config files, I get them all on one screen with no need to go up/down.

But I am looking froward to playing with the latest emby server beta update and native support for the old HDHR Dual tuners - in which case, no more nextpvr and no more plugin.

For now I am also using the m3u file method as well. Found an easy way to export a file from http://127.0.0.1:8866/channels and opened it with Emby. Matched up perfectly with my guide info as well, at least so far. Good workaround until the issue with NextPVR is fixed. Though to be honest, I also seem to get better 'sports' results using the m3u method.

Question for those of you using the m3u method for the live workaround... how do I make that the "default" tuner to use? I added it as a tuner.  I guess really my question is, do I have to remove the NextPVR plug in to make it work?  And if so, does that mean I would not have access to the recordings already in NextPVR?

Honestly I was so glad to see live video playing I didn't really test out the DVR. I'll have to do more testing. I originally removed NextVPR, but right now I have both, which doubles up the guide.

Yes Emby will become your dvr, I have just done this using an m3u for iptv

You can just add your nextpvr recordings folder to Emby though and even group it with the Emby recordings folder. Series detection for your nextpvr recordings will be a bit ropey though

Any more testing we can do on this? I tried using the m3u option for awhile, but it doesn't work well with my Hauppauge 4 tuner card. It just treats it as a single tuner.

I have the Hauppauge quad tuner. Maybe the m3u file is the issue. I just pulled it from NextPVR. It was set up to create an m3u by going to http://xxxx:8866/channels. Not all too familiar with m3u files. Anyway, when I try to use multiple devices or do recordings on multiple channels the initial stream gets killed.

I think next pvr probably only allows one for the m3u. You might want to open a feature request with them to allow you to allocate more.
