The reason is actually related to keeping the old TV app in-line with new store policies, not that we cannot have two. Once the current beta has run for long enough for me to be comfortable, I'll attempt another release channel update with Google. I give it about a 40% chance of success but we'll see.

In the film information section, the video, audio, and subtitle data are not aligned. I've attached a screenshot.
-
Hi. We are trying to keep the TV app compatible but we suggest using the standard app for the most up-to-date features.
-
Okay, looks like it is falling back to a remux due to an error attempting to direct play it. If you can obtain the android log (the example was with the standard "Emby" app) Luke may be able to tell why it is failing.

No. They are created automatically when images are cached.

GrimReaper started following Change subtitle color during playback.
-
Subtitle adjustment options (text color included) during playback are already available in Web app and Standard Android app and will likely find its way into the other client apps down the line - which app specifically you're lacking it/are reffering to?

wolfram84 started following Change subtitle color during playback.

What I’m suggesting might not be very useful for people who don’t need subtitles. It’s also not available in any of the native apps I subscribe to like Apple, Prime, or Netflix, which are actually even worse in this regard, since they don’t offer the same flexibility that Emby does changing the colors. Ideally, we should be able to change subtitle color on the fly, without having to go through menus every time we switch between HDR and non-HDR content.. it would be great to have an option alongside the "CC" and and audio track selection to change between white, gray and light gray etc..

@AadavramduttObviously you've entered the website as the username. Now we know this is something frowned upon. Also.. Why have you created so many usernames that begin with Aadavramdutt? There are ending in 6766, 6769 6788 6790 6999 7789. Why have these usernames been created so closely to the one you are using? It cannot be a coincidence. Nothing is. Shouldn't all these usernames be banned, including the one you are presently using? Explain why they shouldn't be banned. Likely going to get banned. You know why.

scb99 started following Spurious Missing Episodes
-
When I used the function "View Missing Episodes" on the TV series "Diary of a nobody" from 2007, I was shown 3 spurious missing episodes from December 2022 When I looked at the log I saw 2026-04-01 16:46:01.281 Info HttpClient: GET https://api.themoviedb.org/3/tv/241526?api_key=x_secret5_x&append_to_response=alternative_titles,reviews,credits,images,keywords,external_ids,videos,content_ratings,episode_groups&language=en-GB&include_image_language=en-GB,null So I went into the metatadata and blanked out TheMovieDB ID, just leaving TheTVDV ID and IMDB codes there. Now, these spurious missing episodes no longer show and all is good. So this is not really a big problem or anything, but is it possible to know, where these spurious episodes are coming from in TheMovieDB?

My random thoughts on emby and the forum
Apotropaic replied to Apotropaic's topic in Non-Emby General Discussion
I agree with every thing you say, the maturity and stability is the reason and although as our very own 'admins' it is a good thing, I do worry about the project going forwards. All projects need the next killer feature, the thing that will generate interest in the project and also an interest to pay money to support it. I wonder if Version 5 will need a new Premiere key, how much interest will there be? Maintaining my Emby environment has been like therapy for me at times, I enjoy the headache being an emby admin at home as I can't get sacked for it!! So I'd be happy to support going forwards but how many others will if there's no new feature or enhancement? Then again, what do I know, the monthly app unlocks may be more than enough money to aid development and I am worrying needlessly. .. I use Emby in a similar way as you do, I have a losing battle trying to get my family off the streaming subscriptions but they are lazy. I enjoy the experience of watching content within emby as I like how it tracks my episodes watched, I know where my shows are, I knowwhat quality I'm wathving them in. Within the various streaming apps all they want to do is show you the next show you should be interested in, the shows I'm watching get lost in the UI and I get bored. Here's hoping Emby 5.x gets the media content owners onboard and they will license the content libraries to use through Emby if we are a subscriber, and the Emby Premiere license gives us access to this enormous seedbox.... -
Thanks. A dedicated app would defeat the purpose of using emby. I'll keep trying to figure this out.

AVRs, projectors, speakers, sub-woofer stuff
Apotropaic replied to Apotropaic's topic in Non-Emby General Discussion
I would like to get into room treatments with regard to sound, but it's just not something I'd get away with aesthetically. If I started sticking random stuff on the walls I'd have to get rid of my sub-woofers as a compromise -
Any news?

AVRs, projectors, speakers, sub-woofer stuff

Don’t think there’s much difference between the two. Only thing I use is the Auro-3D as it gives a better result to my ears than the other upmixers. It’s always difficult comparing receivers, unless you have the time and ability to switch out different models. One thing I have noticed is I can push the denon louder than my onkyo, at a point the onkyo would sound uncomfortable. Not sure if that’s because the calibration is better with the demon, or the Atmos speakers help in some way, or maybe the new paint on the walls is absorbing reflections better, who knows Just be happy with what you’ve bought!! -
There are some differences, but hard to know whether they are meaningful. I use a HDHomerun in Australia and I always find the raw .ts output to be a bit buggy. Audio out of sync and random other issues, but I automatically convert recordings to mkv using Emby's built-in conversion option and they play fine, even when the same .ts file has issues. I'm not sure if it is something in the way that Emby writes the recording, or if it's on the HDHomerun end, or it's a TV issue (Samsung in my case), but either way, I've never found the raw .ts files to be overly reliable

Overall @Aleas thanks for your job my emby on the web looks 100x better than the plain emby one! Keep up the great job

Been having some issues with playback stopping today on my desktop using Chrome. It's like buffering just "stopped" because the spinners are showing, the player is indicating "play" and even the playlist has those 3 play-bars: As before, waiting long enough causes playback to resume for some reason after these calls: I noticed ffprobe was pretty busy at this time, but the server and by extension Emby Server were still fast to respond.

Filters preferences on user profile instead of stored locally
yocker replied to madblam's topic in Feature Requests
I find that use think the filter resets it self when done and then weird me asking why they can't find the video they are looking for That's when they can even find the filter option. My users are not the brightest sometimes but emby could use a bit of user friendliness update, like text on some buttons instead of icons. Just my opinion. -
Extra content Number Identification
flashmcarthur replied to flashmcarthur's topic in Feature Requests
Hi to all. The poblem is put the correct number to correlate it, the name to the correct chapter. (in episodes is easy because have the number correlation) The list is missing episodes. I have to find the title and count to put the correct number, but with some content is very dificult. When I try to search the missing episodes: I can't find out which number that chapter corresponds to. I can't correlate it, I need to be count each one. I think that the one is 0x01, the next is 0x03, but if I donwload only film, included in specials, and the position is the 0x130, is very dificult to find in the list: -
im uk. also one more update.. i added the video without the meta data to emby as you would with other collections and the video acts exactly the same and does not playback. I have a fairly large library of ts videos recorded from my satellite tv box and have never had an issue with playback. it just seems to be the ones recorded on emby is there nothing different with the files apart from one is interlaced? the video that does not direct play back is on a tv channel without adverts. thanks
-
Yep, that sounds like a mixed bag. Not quite sure what to suggest. If they're all DirectPlay and sometimes work and other times don't then there possibly isn't much we can do. Not sure what country you're in, but I recall someone reporting issues a few years ago with UK recordings where commercial breaks could be played in a different format to the main program, so depending on whether you started playback during the program or the commercial you could get different results, although I'm not entirely sure this is your issue.
