No, no, no—you don't understand the current setup of DIY enthusiasts. At least in my circle, everyone is using at least an N100 chip as the CPU for their NAS. By next year, the minimum will be an N150. And when it comes to transcoding, it's only needed for one or two devices (for family viewing). For us, the computing power is more than enough. The real issue is that hard drives are too expensive. Most NAS enthusiasts in our community use used hard drives for their media libraries—at about a third of the market price. With hard drive prices having risen so much, we're barely buying any new ones. But we don't want to sacrifice our poster walls. So real-time transcoding performance isn't really a bottleneck—the problem is the playback device's frame rate. As for TV boxes, we're using high-performance ones like Apple TV or Google TV. It's just that the displays themselves are relatively old. In our country, installation services for large appliances are very expensive—around $300. So we prefer to upgrade small electronic devices ourselves to get the best experience, and only replace the large appliances when they break down or reach the end of their lifespan.

Yes here it is. As you can see, when anti-spoiler and poster view are enabled, the home screen displays the thumbnail in a poster view. It would be great to show the poster instead (works fine with anti spoiler disabled)

this is pretty bad i’ve been around forever and this is the biggest problem i have faced. The dev team is very talented so i know they can fix it or maybe we can revert to a previous version ? i’m not sure though. i am a premier user too.

Can we please get an update on the issue ? it’s a denial if service situation or do they fix just premiere users issues ? I paid for the app for external streaming , but now I need to pay Plex they don’t have this issue

I assume you need an Emby Admin account when sending the post request.

I was trying to download a video from the Windows Emby app into my computer. Clicked download and choose original and it just stuck at Ready to Transfer. Tried using admin and non admin account and it is still the same.

Running into the same here. It's opus audio tracks specifically and only browser playback that's broken. Any other device or using the secondary audio tracks seems to play-back properly. Browser refuses to start. Interestingly enough, I discovered this when I took a previously DTS audio track file, and replaced it with an identical file but with the audio track replaced with opus. That file played just fine as long as emby thought the track was DTS and tried to transcode it. But as soon as I re-scanned the library and it updated the specs of the file, it stopped working. Log attached. Looking over it, it seems like the use of the opus track is triggering a video transcode for no reason and that's what actually is failing (this file can direct play on browser if any other audio track is selected). edit - I also discovered that if an opus track is used on any other device and quality settings force it to do a video transcode as well, that hardware transcode will fail and fall back to software at a massive performance penalty. Over a year later and the bug (removing missing episodes from the in-line list) is still not fixed. Time to find alternatives.

So finally got the physical SIM....issues persists....short of wiping the phone and personally setting it up to make sure everything is just so I'm at a loss.

Hi, is there any update on this? Still an issue. It’s particularly annoying when travelling, as it’s impossible to free up space by deleting watched downloads.

I would recommend Zootopia 2 (2025) at minimum - others like putting the tmdb id in the folder name for easier identification as well.

+1 for using css! I still have to test with the app, not sure if css works the same way there. My folders view in Movies was data index 12, and now it is hidden. (You can use F12 in a browser to inspect element and see the html data-index value on the tab.) I also probably need to also ensure that other areas aren't affected, like the music library. It sounds like you are paying for an illegal server, which is NOT an Emby problem and is against the TOS. More than likely the admin took your money and deleted your account. No one involved with Emby can or will help you. Take this as an expensive learning experience.

Hello, my apologies for necroing this old thread, but has there been any changes to this behaviour? I'm currently in the same situation where I downloaded my music for when I'm driving or just at work and without access/VPN to my Emby server at home. Right now I have to wait for the timeout to occur. Is there a way to skip directly to the server selection / Download folder screen, without waiting for the timeout to occur/Emby trying to connect to the last server?

I have quite a few since I have m3u links from many sources. Three are screenshot below. Note that when I turned off my vpn i always got the full 14 days until recently. I sync the guide 3 times per day however the 2AM one is the one where the vpn is turned off to ensure there are no guide issues.

On the home screen, when using Poster View, if spoilers are enabled, the thumbnail is displayed in poster format, which doesn’t look very good. Would it be possible to fix this in an upcoming version?
