Emby suddenly stopped working for me 2 nights ago and I have been unable to login since. It seems to work and stream on my windows pc through the browser but unable to login anywhere else using 2 different samsung tv's, 1 lg tv and 2 different samsung phones. 1. restarted router 2. uninstalled and reinstalled emby on pc 3. deleted server and created a new one 4. port forwarding done 5. anti virus unblocked and or deleted anti virus entirely. 6. soft reset tv 7. uninstalled and reinstalled emby on tv's and phones. same error message every time on all devices listed above. screen shot attached. again, i changed nothing, this just randomly happened and nothing has worked so far.

Trying to force non-direct (1080p 4mbps for example) briefly loads the player interface more completely but then gets stuck in a playback error loop (popup/screen takeover). A few fixes and this ought to be a great improvement I hope though!

Somewhat - with some additional modifications, I can launch and navigate the app and the interface is definitely snappier and smoother. Playing videos does not work though - the server starts streaming and it looks like its playing from the server dashboard (direct play for all) but emby theater freezes up with a glitched interface (twitchy or frozen loading circle, some overlapping copies of text, etc). It's not unresponsive though; Home button stops playback and goes to main menu. Steps sudo apt purge emby-theater Install with script from here: curl https://pkg.emby.media/get.sh | sh Had to also edit /usr/local/bin/emby-theater which had some exports and was pointing to /opt/emby-theater New /usr/local/bin/emby-theater: #!/bin/sh APP_DIR=/opt/Emby-Beta exec $APPDIR/media.emby.client.beta "$@"

The startup animation for Emby Beta for Linux is very long. I can't skip it with space, click, escape. How do I disable it?

Did you get whisper language detection to work? I tried a while back and gave up because it was REAL bad at it. Ohhh you had ffmpeg extract to 16kHz mono which is apparently what whisper wants. Interesting. Well what do you know, that's all it was. Thanks for the assist, its always the little things

Has anyone successfully rolled back to an older server version and got things working? I've not had any luck, unsure how far back this issue exists.

With different sources like local, webstreams, .strm, etc it creates duplicate entries of the same videos. It would be nice if Emby could recognize they are the same based on metadata and group them together and handle them like it does right now with different resolutions of local files.. Continue watching will show the different libraries even though it knows they are the same content and even knows which ones are watched.

No I didn't, ended up getting lazy and just running it with docker

No, my DSM doesn't, just router port forwarding. You think the problem is caused by some inaccessible resource? How to find out which definitely? For photos, yes. I think ideally we should add support to save it as embedded metadata inside the image file.

It's not a bug. It is by design that the automatic grouping is isolated into each library. But an option to make that extend across all libraries is always a possibility.

If you see the same playlist in the Emby web app, and you are logged in with alexa as the same user, then it should work. So please try that and let us know how things go.

I have had issues with the app just crashing randomly on multiple apple tvs. It runs for a few days most of the time before it does so. Emby server seems to have no issues.

Hi! Can you help me for this issue? Xpenology DSM 7.2, Emby version 4.9.3.0, fresh Emby reinstall, plugin catalog infinite loading. TMDB/DNS issue was fixed (standart DNS-server doesn't provide me access for this resource). Local request to "http://127.0.0.1:8096/Packages?TargetSystems=Server&IsAdult=false&PackageType=UserInstalled&api_key=null" still hangs indefinitely. Scheduled task "Check for plugin updates" stays running and during shutdown Emby logs: "Check for plugin updates: Timed out waiting for task to stop". All ports are opened, firewall disabled. The same problem was at version 4.8.11 (installed from Synology repositories). embyserver.txt

This isn't a "problem" with the software, just a request for help. If this is in the wrong forum category please go ahead and move it. To give you a sense of the scale of my problem, I have about 1500 movies and the import says 3157 movies now because the extras aren't classified properly.

Hello, I want to import my folders from plex and the movie extras have "-featurette", "-interview", etc., added to the name of the extra inside the movie folder. Emby wants those in their own subfolders. Is there a way to import my 1000+ movies without going through them all and creating new folders? I *did* look for this answer in the KB and these forums but didn't find it. Thanks, Rick

For some things that will work but IMO this is a bug that emby should fix. There's a few plug-ins / add-ons where creating a seperate library might make sense. I'm not the only person with this issue. If I recall it took several years before we got the native ability of automatic grouping which was handled by a 3rd party plug-in originally. I don't claim it will be simple but it's certainly possible.
