4K HEVC shows as 1080p, think I can't find any setup to fix?
Teddyknuddel replied to PeteGul's topic in Android
Yes, it does, but not if you set it rigidly to 4K. Then, to the box, all content is 4K – whether it’s 720p, 1080p or 2160p. Then EVERYTHING becomes 2160p. And that looks rubbish. That’s why the Shield 2019 has AI upscaling, so the box can decide for itself. As you can see, your suggestion just introduces further problems. -

As I understand, the server "only" handles the logins by the user and informs the clients about the last login time, yes. BUT the client unnecessarily seems to login to the server with the last user BEFORE the current user can select his/her profile, and so the last logged-in user gets the text "Vor 0 Minuten" ("0 minutes ago"), even if last user and current user aren't the same person. (The client can't know, b/c the user hasn't actively logged in yet.)

Very much agree but sadly watching 1080p and lower with the shield set to 4k introduces massive judder. -

Atrium — a native tvOS app for your Emby server
Kyouma replied to vdatanet's topic in Third Party Apps
It is only a single start, because Emby only has IntroStart, IntroEnd and CreditsStart. Currently there is no CreditsEnd marker available, but i hope it will soon come. -
They're set to loop, but it doesn't seem to be working—or at least, they only loop twice maybe? I left it on the Rocky Horror Picture Show item detail screen for a while and when I came back it was silent. Tried Clue and it seemed to loop, but then also went quiet. Not sure though if it did loop around a second time and then stop or if the track itself contains a second loop. embyserver.txt

Atrium — a native tvOS app for your Emby server

That's a useful distinction, and it's exactly the shape I was asking about — thanks. For what it's worth, that's already how the app reads it. It doesn't look at a file's own chapters: it reads what the server hands back for the episode and goes by the marker type rather than the name, since the names come through localised and matching on those would only ever have worked in one language. So whatever put the markers there — the server itself, a plugin, your external tool — makes no difference at this end. Which is what makes your point the interesting one. My hesitation about credits was that every tool would leave behind something of its own shape; if they all land in the same place with a type on them, that's a different question. The piece I'd still want before saying yes to it is the value itself: on your episodes, what does a credits marker come through as, and is it a single start or a pair? Intros arrive here as a start and an end; credits I'd expect to have only a beginning, with the end being the end of the file — but I'd rather see one real example than assume and build the wrong rule. -

My suggestion was a troubleshooting step to confirm the behavior but, there are some devices that may upscale better than (or be preferred over) the TV - the Shield being one. -
You blanked out the IP addresses. Those should be local so nothing sensitive about them. What are they? Do they match your server address? And, one more time...

I set up port forwarding in my router menu as per the attached screenshot. I entered the IP address & default port & saved it. The saved configurations then show as per second screenshot.

FYI it doesn't matter if it's in the chapter list of the episode itself. It's important if it's in Emby's DB. I for example do not have any Intro/Credits chapters in the chapter list of my episodes, it's only in the DB. And I push them from an external application, so it shouldn't matter which one you use. They all should be doing the same thing: creating markers in the DB. -

So now the 200-euro Chinabox is supposed to do the job (upscaling Full HD footage to 4K) that a TV costing 1, or perhaps 2,000 euros more would do much better? You should NEVER let the source device do the upscaling – ALWAYS let the TV do it! -
I'll try it later today.

Can’t you sort yourselves out, or why are you releasing a new version almost every day?

Atrium — a native tvOS app for your Emby server
vdatanet replied to vdatanet's topic in Third Party Apps
Thanks — and the HomePod part I can't take much credit for: Atrium plays through the native tvOS player rather than bundling its own engine, so pausing, resuming and switching audio routes all go through the same path the system apps use. Most of what feels right there is the platform. Skipping intros is planned, yes — and your question sent me to look at my own server, where the answer turned out to be sitting already. Intro detection is part of the server itself, and it writes its markers straight into an episode's chapter list. Atrium already reads that list; it's what fills the chapter menu in the player. So the data has been arriving in the app all along and I simply wasn't looking at it. That's the half I'm comfortable saying yes to, because it works for anyone who switches the detection on, with nothing else to install. End credits I'd rather not promise. There seem to be several plugins that do it, each in its own way, and a button built around whichever one I happened to install would quietly not exist for everybody running a different one. What the server can do on its own is the line I'd like to stay on. But I would like to know what you use, and what it leaves behind on an episode once it has found the credits — a marker, a chapter, something else? If there's a shape that's common to more than one of them, that changes the picture, and it's the sort of thing I'd want to weigh up properly later rather than guess at now. No date on either of these, and preview thumbnails while scrubbing are still ahead of them in the queue. -
Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks!

I was playing a 4K tv show, and it transcoded it to 720p, sometimes it transcode it to 1080p but wouldn't play it at its true 4K. This didn't start happening until I updated the app. Screen_Recording_20260826_214143_Emby.mp4

I just installed this tonight to play around with it. It looks really nice. Sleek and the playback is great. Works perfectly with my Homepods with none of that lagging audio when you restart or pause. So great job on this aspect! I know this app is new, but wanted to check if you plan to implement using the Intro skip feature and end credits skip buttons for TV Shows? I use the credits detector plugin for credits. -
Hi Pasithea, I‘d say my problem comes from some season naming I described in my last post. Looks like that show is being scanned way earlier in my docker instance than in my local instance. BR

Embeat — a native, music-only player for Emby (gapless, DLNA, offline)
vdatanet replied to vdatanet's topic in Third Party Apps
Update — 1.4.0: your downloads now play in the car, with the server out of reach Version 1.4.0 is out. Short recap for anyone new to the thread: Embeat is a native iOS/iPadOS music-only player for Emby — gapless FLAC/ALAC direct play, CarPlay, offline downloads, DLNA including Sonos, playlist management. €9.99/year, one month free, and it talks straight to your server with nothing of mine in between. The Downloads tab in the car There's now a fifth tab in CarPlay: Downloads, listing what's actually stored on the phone. It plays in the car park, in the tunnel, and anywhere your server isn't reachable — no server, no network, no login. The part that makes it worth anything is that the blocking is per tab now. Before, an unreachable server blocked the whole car screen; now the four server-backed tabs go quiet and Downloads stays usable. An offline tab behind a screen-wide "no server" message would have been decoration. If you already had music downloaded, download it again. Downloads made before this version are missing the track duration the car list needs, so they don't show up in the Downloads tab — and the app can't repair them yet. It's on my list; re-downloading is the fix today. I'd rather tell you than have you think the tab is broken. Also in this version Radio from the car. A button on the now-playing screen starts an Instant Mix from whatever you're listening to — the one thing you can start in the car without picking anything. The Downloads screen on the phone plays now. Tapping a track there plays it, with the rest of the album behind it. It was the only list in the app where tapping did nothing, and it had been that way since downloads shipped. When a track can't be played, the app tells you instead of going quiet: an error banner rather than a silent no-op. Along with it, durations and badges now line up in lists, and a few strings that showed up in the wrong language are fixed. On Android, the build is with Google Play. It's been downloadable on the closed-testing track since 24 August — car declaration approved and all — and on 26 August the same artefact went to the production track, where review starts over. I'm still not giving a date; when it clears isn't up to me. I'll post here the day it's downloadable by anyone, not before. App Store: https://apps.apple.com/app/embeat/id6788410988 Site: https://embeat.media Bug reports and feedback: here or joan@vdata.net — I read everything. If you drive with it, I'd like to hear whether the Downloads tab covers the case you were missing, and what you reached for in the car and couldn't find.
