Came here looking for a simpler solution to LDAP but doesn't look like there's going to be one--officially at least. I understand the reasoning. Although I feel like anyone intending to use Emby as a public pirating site likely has the skills to implement this feautre themselves. But cut off the low hanging fruit I guess. Everyone wanting this feature has valid use-cases. It's tedious setting up each account manually and then explaining the whole process to non-technical folks. Especially how to connect via the app. Personally, I would really love a self-serve password reset feature using the user's e-mail. This should at least be standard.

So at the moment i am trying to use a gtx 1060 as a transcoding method. So this might cause the hardware detection protocolls. -
Just happened again, while it less than previous days (only once an hour now). Took a picture of it. Seems to be Direct Play.

Bobby121418 started following Music folders Android auto

Hi, I am trying to access my music folders via Emby (on Synology) on Android Auto, however the result is not easy to use. While after clicking on Folders (see attached image ending in 237) I see my all folders, these are mixed with music file names, making it not easy to find things. Please see pictures attached ending in 428. Is there a way to ensure when clicking on Folders in the menu, all the folders appear in a list followed by any music files that may be in the same folder? Many thanks

RIP314 started following Music library not able to store "People" info

So I'm using the previous build of emby and in my music library when I try to add to the 'People' section of a song's, album's, or artist's metadata it doesn't save. Is this simply not possible in Music libraries?

In-Progress Emby Server - Gapless Playback

Thanks! I've tried DLNA directly to my Panasonic TV and to my OPPO blu-ray player and they both have gaps. It's really helpful to know a DLNA device that works. -

Interview clips are misidentified as alternate versions of the movie
uncle_yuri posted a topic in General/Windows
Hello, I'm using a pretty vanilla setup (new server setup, pretty much all default options) and have been following along with the suggested naming structure, but hopefully I've just missed something simple here. I have the following file structure in place: D:/Video/ Movies/ (this is the library folder, content type is movies) Dawn of the Dead (1978) {tvdb-923}/ Dawn of the Dead (1978) - Extended Edition.mkv Dawn of the Dead (1978) - US Theatrical Edition.mkv interviews/ Chris Romero.mkv Tom Savini.mkv My problem is that the interview clips are showing up not as extra features, but as alternate versions of the film: I haven't uploaded many movies, and this is the only one where I tried to add alternate versions. I'm wondering if there's some kind of bug involved, or if I just have an issue with my setup. Thanks! -
Man I have 22 users on my server, all friends and family, and I've never run into issues with running out of devices. EVER.
-
Can you also confirm the playback type (DirectPlay, transcode) in Stats for Nerds when you have this issue?

Infinite scroll on long listings fails with Firefox
FamFrederiks replied to FamFrederiks's topic in General/Windows
The screen loads after a couple of seconds. I see the spinner, then the first row of books. I see a small scrollbar which disappears after the a-z side bar appears. After that scrolling lower fails with mouse or keyboard. -
It's not Emby's fault you refuse to name your files properly. I run both Emby and Plex on the same machine and have 0 issues with Emby finding movies and TV shows, because I name them correctly. Asian stuff can be a little difficult as it depends on your metadata source and if you're using the original untranslated name, or the westernized name. Just use the proper naming conventions as linked above and you should have no issues. And yes I do have a lot of Asian content, not just anime.
-
How do you know that is not the issue? If you are behind a CGNAT you can never connect directly as your WAN IP is shared. For a test you can set the routers WAN access open, and see if you can access the routers webserver remotly. (But do not forget to close this access after your test! )

LG TV has a problem playing videos with embedded subtitles.
coolspot replied to trekflix's topic in LG Smart TV
It probably is server version related as it may be related to which is temp fixed by us rolling back server version. It just happened to begin after an LG client update as well so took a bit to link it to the server build. -
They are in a seperate folder. For each show.It goes Folder/TV Show name/Episodes. I guess this will never be fixed. O joy more work for the user!

Brilliant move: Locked out my admin account. Designflaw!
Neminem replied to helgen77@gmail.com's topic in General/Windows
Well tbh its you network, and you should know it's subnets. And set it up accordantly. Emby should not interfere with that. That would just make other users with other subnets fail, with out reason. Your issue was misconfiguration, that you introduced by mistyping. That's on you, NOT Emby. -

In Adobe Acrobat or your design app, export as High Quality Print, use 300 DPI, and avoid downsampling images. -
Those are alternative titles, not the primary title, Sometimes it could have junk data in there. What does that json data have for title or name?

Sorry i did not see the article. IDK if these help. There are a few errors mentioned but idk if these are really errors. Let me know if u need other protocolls. On the screeshot are a lot of hardware detection protocolls .... idk if thats normal either. embyserver-63907056009.txt -
Upon re-reading the official Emby Music Naming documentation just now, I think it does provide the correct information. But, I do also remember having quite a few false starts with Emby myself, before getting the hang of it, so perhaps some of the music metadata aspects could be made more obvious for the beginner or those not fully familiar with the music naming conventions? I know you guys are super-busy on 4.10, so without rewriting the whole Music Naming documentation (which would then need a lot of checking) here is my attempt at a shortish new intro which may be helpful...??? This intro now emphasizes the embedded metadata aspect and separates the Folder Structure into its own main section. Everything else below stays the same as it is now. Feel free to use this as is (I hope there are no errors) or alter as you wish...

ah thanks for your reply, I have a Plex lifetime sub so I will revisit Emby when this feature arrives.
-
Ah this is a per user setting. Then yeah I'm not sure it would work for this plugin. My assumption is @ChaoOossaw the update and thought he could exclude libraries on a per library basis from getting included in the statistics equations.
