TVDB sometimes offers different versions as different "orders" - some of these can be selected by Emby in the series metadata. Paul

External STR subtitle file not showing up!
fabien_m2002 replied to fabien_m2002's topic in General/Windows
Hello i did a scan but no success. I don't see the FR SRT subtitle. How is it supposed to work? If i download a SRT found by OpenSubtitles addon, it works, but not if i put myself the SRT file in the proper folder. -

Brilliant move: Locked out my admin account. Designflaw!
pwhodges replied to roockie1053262's topic in General/Windows
Well, this has been not been exactly a debate, nor has it been an attack on you personally, nor has it exposed any design flaws. The discussion has homed in on a couple of things: You filled in the forum registration form wrongly (the forum software can't know what you intended - that's why you have to fill it in!). Note that this forum is running on a widely used platform, which Emby didn't write. You filled in your subnet in Emby's settings incorrectly - again, Emby is relying on you doing this correctly. Take this experience as a reminder that computers are stupid boxes which do what you tell them, not "what you meant to tell them". Especially in initial setup of any computer system, it is essential to double and triple check everything you do, precisely to avoid the situations you got into here. (The same "stupid" description applies to ChatGPT - it is a system intended to give you what it thinks you want, and is well-known for getting things factually wrong to try to achieve that.) Paul -
[How-To] Emby Server on Windows Server with IIS as Reverse Proxy with Automatic Certificate Renewal
Sulphy replied to TheITJedi's topic in General/Windows
Ok, so i came across this post, and thought FINALLY! not being super comfortable with this kind of stuff... i decided to give this a try on my new Windows Server 2025 rebuild for my media server. Why did i go Server 2025 instead of staying on Win11? Got a new SAS card for my drives, and figured that using this guide would get me is a better state than previously on Win11.. I also took a stab at using ZimaOS.... this was an amazing OS to try out... BUT... having used Drive Bender as my software raid on Win11.. it was just so simple... and when a rebuild was required, i didnt have to worry about encrypted drives, or having drives converted when adding to pools etc. I have now moved onto Stablebit Drive Pool - pretty nifty too! Used the script, and had tons of errors (downloads failed, installations failed due to downloaded files not being found in temp folders etc... IIS configs failed etc) So, i downloaded the apps manually, installed them... followed the guide on page 1 - manual setup... Got through all that pretty well. All is working as expected, SSLLabs gives me an A+ when testing my domain. Just wanted to say a big thank you for this guide... and maybe it could be updated again someday with newer tools.. updated script etc.... for that eventual scenario when a rebuild is required again!- 130 replies

Hi Team, Emby videos have not been playing on any of our Apple TVs for the past few days. Is anyone else facing the same issue? If so, has anyone been able to identify the cause or find a fix? Please let me know if you need any additional details from our end.

Plain HTTP without any forced redirect to HTTPS is vonerable. I would also recommend to remove delete rights of all users exept the admin user.

The TV buffer isn't that big, minutes at the very most. Your NAS shouldn't be going into idle that quickly. As per alex77777's comment, have you tried restarting all your network devices and maybe rebooting your NAS to see if that helps?
-
A bit late perhaps - but as a massive fan of using mpv as external player: look into adding config file for MPV where you probably can add those options. MPV even allows for separate configs in the media folders themselves, allowing for finetuning any given videofile(s)/season folders. In fact, while Emby theater is nice enough, i am only it using because of the external player feature - all other clients I have tested, be it for Emby/Jellyfin etc. ALWAYS hijacks mpv(or other player), Emby theater is the only app that lets MPV rule on its own and doesn't interfere with my configs.

I was bored today and was swapping out a number of actor/actress images that I didn't like and found that many of actor/actress images available were not to my liking. I start tinkering with Google's Gemini (I know AI bad, and for the most part I agree) trying to see if I could get results that I felt look enough like the actress/actors to be usable. I ended up with a prompt that works pretty well. I have to edit the images a bit after sometimes, but so far I am really impressed by results, but I don't what to be subject to my own biases so I thought I would see what others thought. Work flow goes as followed: 1. Find 3-4 images of actor/actress 2. Add image to Gemini 3. Add prompt 4. Download Gemini image 5. Run Eyelign (when I have cast done) (This aligns eye level to be the same on all images) 6. Open images in Photoshop (edit image size, and center images so they match) 7. Export images to folder using Photoshop's File > Export > Layers To Files feature 8. Rename Files as need. 9. Upload to emby I've only done one movie so far I chose Predator Badlands because of it's small cast and because I just watched it a few days ago. Here are the images that I made with Gemini: Here is what they look like in emby: I feel they are pretty good, but would welcome what others think.

Ok so beside this increasingly toxic debateculture we have here attacking me as a person for pointing out a designflaw and blowing my email out on internet with no option to fix it after the moderators here have been asked MANY TIMES now to remove my email, if you dont act soon im going to report this forum for violating the GDPR law. -

Heres another one for the "holier than thou"-trolls in here: I shouldnt have had to pay for emby at all. I own synology and they nerfed their product by removing videostation. -

Who else here think its IMMORAL to make a mistake ending up with locking yourself out of the admin account and then complain about it being a design flaw in emby when you even have paid for it? To make it clear here: I understood the settings perectly fine and had no reason to follow any manual. Lets see who the trolls are in here. Brothom stepped forth, but by some of the grumpy replies i got i bet hes not the only one. -
Hi, please let us know how things go. Thanks.

Excuse me, but what is a "LMM instructions"? You mean asking chatgpt for solutions when the damage was done? No, i didnt follow any instructions, i just look trough the settings since i was seeing how emby worked but i obiously mistyped 1 number and then locked out the admin account. And i blame bad design for being able to lock yourself out with a wrong setting in emby. So whats the problem here? Shouldnt a paying customer be allowed to complain when they could make a simple improvement that would have prevented this? You never make mistakes so now you think youre entitled to sit here and moralize over everyone that do, is that your point? -
hi, not currently, although that's not a bad idea. Right now it's either just automatic or manual.

Basically as the title says. after installing a new GPU to improve trans-coding, the web app wont work properly with direct play on both video AND audio. it will work if you start an episode or movie from the beginning, however it takes like 30 seconds to load, and if you scrub at all, the video freezes, but audio continues, And resuming a video gives you a black screen and audio, you HAVE to watch from the beginning. If either video or audio trans-codes, doesn't matter witch, then it just works perfectly fine, but if its ALL direct play, wont work properly. embyserver(1).txt
