Emby for Android or Emby for Android TV ?
SoliFlix replied to chrisrobbins1970's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
I prefer using Emby for Android TV... in my opinion, the new Spotlight also looks significantly better than in the Emby Android app. The only downside is that you don't have admin functions. Spotlight on Emby for Android TV vs Emby Android App -

I quite like emby I use it daily and so does my family but why does it feel like a sinking ship does no one care anymore what the customers want I don't even like posting this sort of thing but I pay for emby yet feel like I'm always looking for something to replace it because nothing ever gets done with the UI look and feel. I just want trailers in the top right that auto plays on the home screen for the love of jesus is it ever going to bloody happen ?

What I mean is that we have many extension methods available which are doing the same things as the newer .ent APIs are doing, which means in turn that no code changes are needed at all (except some usings.

If you use the options in the app to disable direct stream of live TV then that will make it more like the TV app.

Ken Burns Zoom: Applies a slow, continuously looping zoom-in/zoom-out effect to the Fokus/Spotlight backdrop image, giving it subtle motion instead of sitting completely still. zoom.mp4 /* Emby Fokus/Spotlight – Ken-Burns-Zoom-Schleife */ .spotlightCard .cardContent, .spotlightCard .cardImageContainer { overflow: hidden; } .spotlightCard .spotlightCardImage { animation: spotlightKenBurns 10s ease-in-out infinite alternate; will-change: transform; } @keyframes spotlightKenBurns { from { transform: scale(1) translate3d(0, 0, 0); } to { transform: scale(1.12) translate3d(-1.5%, -1.5%, 0); } } @media (prefers-reduced-motion: reduce) { .spotlightCard .spotlightCardImage { animation: none; } } Vignette: Adds a soft dark gradient fade around the edges of the Fokus/Spotlight banner so the backdrop image blends into the page instead of ending in a hard rectangle. /* Emby Fokus/Spotlight – Vignette */ .spotlightCard .cardContent, .spotlightCard .cardImageContainer { z-index: 1; } .spotlightCard .cardFooter, .spotlightCard .innerCardFooter { z-index: 2; } .spotlightCard .cardContent::before, .spotlightCard .cardImageContainer::before { content: ""; position: absolute; inset: 0; z-index: 1; pointer-events: none; background: linear-gradient(to bottom, rgba(30,30,30,1) 0%, rgba(30,30,30,1) 1%, rgba(30,30,30,1) 2%, rgba(30,30,30,.99) 3%, rgba(30,30,30,.97) 4%, rgba(30,30,30,.95) 5%, rgba(30,30,30,.9) 8%, rgba(30,30,30,.85) 10%, rgba(30,30,30,.75) 15%, rgba(30,30,30,.6) 20%, rgba(30,30,30,.4) 25%, rgba(30,30,30,.2) 35%, transparent 50%, rgba(30,30,30,.2) 65%, rgba(30,30,30,.4) 75%, rgba(30,30,30,.6) 80%, rgba(30,30,30,.75) 85%, rgba(30,30,30,.85) 90%, rgba(30,30,30,.9) 92%, rgba(30,30,30,.95) 95%, rgba(30,30,30,.97) 96%, rgba(30,30,30,.99) 97%, rgba(30,30,30,1) 98%, rgba(30,30,30,1) 99%, rgba(30,30,30,1) 100% ); } .spotlightCard .cardContent::after, .spotlightCard .cardImageContainer::after { content: ""; position: absolute; inset: 0; z-index: 1; pointer-events: none; background: linear-gradient(to right, rgba(30,30,30,1) 0%, rgba(30,30,30,1) 1%, rgba(30,30,30,1) 2%, rgba(30,30,30,.99) 3%, rgba(30,30,30,.97) 4%, rgba(30,30,30,.95) 5%, rgba(30,30,30,.9) 8%, rgba(30,30,30,.85) 10%, rgba(30,30,30,.75) 15%, rgba(30,30,30,.6) 20%, rgba(30,30,30,.4) 25%, rgba(30,30,30,.2) 35%, transparent 50%, transparent 60%, rgba(30,30,30,.2) 72%, rgba(30,30,30,.4) 80%, rgba(30,30,30,.6) 84%, rgba(30,30,30,.75) 88%, rgba(30,30,30,.85) 92%, rgba(30,30,30,.9) 94%, rgba(30,30,30,.95) 96%, rgba(30,30,30,.97) 97%, rgba(30,30,30,.99) 98%, rgba(30,30,30,1) 99%, rgba(30,30,30,1) 100% ); } only works in the web app...

Shuffling a large playlist won't select songs later in the playlist?
Lonald replied to Scarface1's topic in General/Windows
Put me on the list looking for better randomization during shuffle. I have a lot of music (125k tracks) and like to add albums at a time to playlists, one of which is 7+ days in duration. It's disappointing to find that the full list is not being sampled. I wouldn't mind simple compromises, like limiting the shuffled playlist to 100 tracks before needing to be refreshed. The music app is excellent, and the playback of high fidelity (24/96) is outstanding and can be played in synchrony on several devices.- 14 replies

Hello, I have a windows server providing emby to a dozen clients and regular users and myself (remote) are having issues with freezing playback on all videos. Local playback seems fine but I can only check through remote desktop which is jittery anyway. I hope someone more attune to these things could have a look at the log for tonights activity. Much appreciated. embyserver.txt

There are multiple ways to submit segments, although manually verifying that the time is accurate is the primary goal. The primary way is through the website https://theintrodb.org, but you can also create an API key there (theintrodb.org/docs) and attach it to the browser extension or you can send an API request directly if you wish to automate it. I've even seen some people make Apple Shortcuts to submit!

What is the best way to submit data, other than doing it manually? Or is that what is recommended?

Hi, When the app updated to 3.5.55 it has broken my DV playback on my Nvidia Shield. I get very washed out colours, and the TV (Sony OLED) does not detect Dolby Vision. If I use the old Emby for Android TV, the same files work although issue? Thank you

As a regular Roku user, I have noticed but not said anything. I gave it a chance, but much prefer the ability to set what area is presented first on each library.

Hell will freeze over before that happens. This might help -

Be careful what you wish for. With an increased user base come increased feature demands, more time the DEVs have to spend with the product away from real life with families. I also have a life time Plex pass and have uninstalled it from my Qnap NAS to never use it again because the users I share it with are not mine as Plex wants their details to access my server. I am happy with Emy's present state and consider myself part of an elite niche group.

Introducing Media Renamer Pro, a Mac app that renames media from the metadata inside the files
bkettering posted a topic in Third Party Apps
I run Emby at home, around 29TB across movies, TV, audiobooks and music, and I wrote this because my own library was the problem. Posting it here because this forum is where people actually understand why naming matters. Media Renamer Pro reads what is inside a file instead of parsing the filename. EXIF dates and camera model for photos, embedded tags for video and music, and online lookups for movies, TV, audiobooks and game ROMs. It builds a rename plan, shows you every row before anything moves, lets you edit any of them, and the whole batch undoes. Two things in it came straight out of breaking my own server. Renaming is two-phase. A single pass renames A to B while B is still sitting there waiting to become C, and one-at-a-time renaming quietly eats files in chains and swaps. Everything goes through temp names first. Subtitles follow their video. Rename a movie and the matching .srt goes with it, keeping language and forced tags intact, so pairing does not break. It is off by default, under Settings then Exclusions. It is 4.99 one time on the Mac App Store, no subscription and no account, and it runs on iPad and iPhone too. Nothing leaves the machine unless you turn on the online title lookups. Worth saying plainly: if you only have a couple hundred files, a shell script with exiftool does most of this for free and I am glad to help anyone write one. The app earns its keep at thousands of files, or when you want to see and undo what it is about to do. https://apps.apple.com/us/app/media-renamer-pro-batch-file/id6761764615 What I actually want from this thread is edge cases. If you have naming that no tool gets right, I would like to see it. -
