Hi everyone, I wanted to share a small personal project I’ve been working on called XiaoEmby. I originally built this to solve a specific need in my own home lab, and I’m open-sourcing it today in case anyone else in the community is looking for a similar solution. What is XiaoEmby? XiaoEmby is a lightweight tool that bridges your Emby music library with Xiaomi (XiaoAi) smart speakers. It is a customized extension of the xiaomusic project, specifically optimized to pull and stream media directly from an Emby server. Why I built this The core functionality is simple: I wanted a way to play my high-quality Emby music collection on my Xiaomi speakers (like the Xiaomi L17A / Xiaomi Sound Pro) without jumping through hoops. I'm requesting that the EPG rendering allow for 2 lines of data and line breaks like \n tags. Similar to tivimate.

where is this server_type setting ive looked in all the configs youve posted and dont see this. if your reffering to setting up emby in config yes i have done this. i noticed in a recent post you said plex is no longer needed so i have tried with and without plex info. i get a list of errors when plex is removed from the config. i have tried to load all of your preset configs as well and nothing works. it seams to only error when it tries to load a catagory yml. this is latest config ive tried. as i said i have put emby under catagory in global moved plex and removed it yet if i remove plex i get some plex libraries error. when i add it i get this other plex error. i have completely stripped this config down so duno. i tried changing config for a good 6 hours tried movies as well. and like before i found 3 you linked or had on website they all had the same error. meta-1.log config - Copy.yml

Hi Luke, Are you asking about the one that many people have pointed out only works if you already know something is missing, or at least suspect it? That makes it pointless. I have been using it ever since we got this regression. It is incredibly annoying to start a marathon of a multi-season series, like House; both admin and regular users have given the same feedback; and then, a couple of seasons later, realize something looks off, and only then check the context menu. At this point, I feel like your response is coming from a bot, since it looks like the same response every time. I waited and tried to live with this bad user-experience “feature,” but I need to find an alternative. I am not asking for it back; we already lost that battle.

Absolutely! I’ve done the test as asked 480p 1mbs and it bugged a few seconds, came back and after again and freezes Here’s the log and my transcoding settings if needed. Just wanted to add a quick note here for anyone looking at that thread, it's important to make sure the mount points are mounted BEFORE the emby service starts. You should be able to figure out how to do this in your distro by googling. Hard won knowledge. -HS

iPTV is often used for piracy and Emby does not and should not aid in piracy. I am not saying that all or even most iPTV services are illegal but some are and those services can make Emby the object of lawsuits and that Emby wants to avoid if at all possible. I use two iPTV sources myself and have verified they are legal but I also wanted to use some others that were not legal so I chose to not use them. It seems that the people that consume pirated content are hard and expensive to prosecute so lawsuits usually target the actual providers or platforms that make using pirated material possible. I am not saying it is right or wrong to target services like Emby but they do and Emby does not want to spend the money and time that is required to fight them so they strongly discourage any hint of supporting piracy. This is not the place to debate what is/is not piracy but Emby rightly does not want their app to be targeted as a piracy app so they do not officially support anything that even remotely looks like piracy.

Hi, Just wanted to ping this thread. Since my last post, I've totally rebuilt my music server and moved from ASUSTOR to Debian. My current setup is running on a Debian 13.4 (Trixie) VM and Emby 4.9.3.0 (I believe to be the latest stable), I've had a few bumps along the way but I'm pretty happy with it. That said I'm still encountering the nagging issue with the parental controls not showing albums for restricted users. For thoroughness the issues represented here in this thread are: 1) Ratting disappears from meta data - this seems to be resolved. 2) Restricted user, album which the has access to does not show up in albums. It does show up in tracks or recently added though. And it's worse, before I upgraded, I was seeing some albums in the albums section but now I can't any album show up in the album section of the restricted user. Is there anything I can do to help with this? Should we keep this thread going or should I start a new one? Thanks again for all your helps guys. -HS

You haven't shown us any of your settings related to subtitles. Nor have you specified the type of the subtitles giving problems; nor whether they are default or forced. Are they separate files or muxed in the video file? Is this problem occurring with certain specific files, or any files? Do the subtitles show properly in other programs? Paul

I would tend to agree simpler is better. In the case of your brother watching something and really liking it, I get the idea that it might be nice to know as you might want to watch it too. So, not sure I agree with not caring at all. That being said, in the same household, one only has to open their mouth and say I really like movie X and problem solved. Just being able to rate your own user ids watched stuff is enough for me.

I think what we should do is that when it's trying to connect, we have the ability to cancel it so that you don't have to wait for it to timeout.

You are over-complicating the issue. Once again, I do not want the ratings of others AT ALL. I will NEVER care if you would have rated "The Rip" a 4-star movie. I liked it (4) but would not Favorite it and would like to be able to filter it out in the future. If the current DB can keep up with all the green checkmarks of 'Played', it should be able keep up with this. If my mother watches an episode, I don't get a Played checkmark, so there must be a way of segregating these values by user. Just need a <RATING> value somewhere and a graphical representation (that only shows to THAT user).

Try this version, i removed a couple of blocks made. It should now allow any host name or IP as long as they are local IPs. Note: It will not allow public IPs, made it like that because the Tesseract and PaddleOCR doesn't have any password system that i know of (they are not my containers), so giving access to them from the internet would be a huge security risk and everyone would be able to use them. If you want i can remove any blocks there are, just be mindful of this! EmbyCredits.dll

Ideal would be to run the ratings on a separate service that only updates Emby's data after the page loads. Ratings change when anyone updates a rating. It is not a practical idea to add ratings to the database, because checking for changes will slow down the page load on every page, where ratings are visible. This is why rating services use a separate service, not connected to loading the initial media page. This request is easy to ask for but, very difficult to create. Ok, it doesn't matter if this seems like it should be easy and not create an issue. It's just some stars appearing here and there on the media page and perhpas in a list of content. It is not a good idea to add this to a media database, unless it's handled where loading the rating / review data does not impact the initial page load. You can delay the loading, stagger updates to only happen once a week and make all the computations happen on a different service, if you had mulitple servers, which Emby does not use. So, to make it work efficiently on a single server, is complicated and rather expensive in time, support and design. Also all the ratings have to somewhere fit on each page, in every media poster location, be able to be turned on or off and work on every platform and all browser sizes. I mentioned earlier in the forum that online companies pay monthly fees to have such reviews created and monitored for their products. Shopify, for example, dropped their rating, review service on products in 2024 and you have to go now to a third party service. All online movie ratings services have monthly fees from third party services. If the admin wishes to make ratings available as a service to users, that statistically makes sense. Fine, that is the admin's rating. But trying to get a rating consensus from users reviewing any media, you really need to get at least a minimum number of viewers to vote. For a typical collection of media, user ratings won't be significant on any one media even after the media has been available for an entire year. Emby is not available to enough people to make ratings from a few viewers to really reflect anything. Alternative methods would be for the admin to create a recommended library or collection. Collections can be made to appear first in the collection list by changing the sort title.

Okay. I used my son's phone since my phone might have too much emby history influence. I tried to login to my dad's profile and this is what came up...I changed the password in the user profile multiple times. I deleted the previous password, saved. Went back in and added a different password, saved.

Anything on this? I see there's a validation function in the source code that's rejecting these URLs even though they are valid. It only allows localhost or ip addresses entered Okay I will test it out and report. Appears to be working alright now.

And Prev/Next buttons will only ever appear if there are Prev or Next items, so Prev won’t show for the first item in a queue, and neither will show if playing a single item.

The visibility of some of the OSD buttons depends on detection of a mouse or the LG magic pointer. Check the app settings, there is a setting possibly under Display or Playback where you can set the transport button visibility. Try setting it to ‘always show’

This should have been handled a decade ago BUT people keep trying to complicate a simple rating system. This isn't Plex. Stop trying to add every stupid nuance to a really simple thing. Look... in Filters, I see that I can toggle on Favorites. If I do so, do I see your favorite movies? No. I see the movies that I favorited, no one else. All I've been asking for is a simple 5-star button so that I can rate a movie or show after I am done watching it. Example below (I should have made the stars Green). At this point, instead of the Favorite toggle in Filters, you are given the choice of choosing your rating 1-5 and any other filter selection you would like, such as year (or years). Now, I am able to see my 4-star-rated movies from 1984 or my 5-star-rated movies from the 90s. There is no reason to expand this feature further. I do not need to see what others like or don't like. I don't need to average my rating against every Emby user in the world. I don't need my rating to transfer to Trakt or iMDb or anywhere else. Just a small ratings section within the database. The same database that keeps up with my Played stats. Please... please... can we get some traction on this feature?
