Hes 1420 x 1080 video shouldn't be shown as 720p which was caused by trying to combine different resolutions so that for example 4:3, 16:9 and so on would always show a "correct" resolution. So you are both correct but the implementation wrong. I have changed it to just use what Emby shows now and in missing that a normal height range will be used, 4K = 2160, 1440p = 1440, 1080p = 1080 and so on and sticking to the closest match. This should be more reliable but might cause some problems with none standard resolutions.

You decide it too simple, the fact is maybe emby is right. The reason make the width less than 1920 is: The blueray disk's resolution is always 1920×1080, but there is a wide black side at the top and bottom(21:9), or at the left and right(3:2/4:3). So in ISO/BDMV/REMUX, 1080p must be 1920×1080. But we always download encoded files, we call it BDrip. In the encoding process, the application program will cut the wide black side automatically, which made the width less than 1920 or made the height less than 1080. But actually they are the same resolution. The advintage of BDrip is you can get bigger display area even full screen without black side area on widescreen display. So I think emby is right, @TMCswmentioned the definition is right, but is not suitable with the real situation

Okay I removed the DMZ and port forwarded my emby devices LAN IP port 8096 on my router and it seems to be holding. So I guess that was the true fix.

Hi all I have installed several subtitle plugins from the MB catalog, such as Wisdom, Ktuviut and so on. I also restarted the server after that but they never show as installed. When I go to look at installed plugins or my plugins they never show up there, and it doesn't seem like they're actually launched when I'm searching for subtitles. What am I missing here? I know I'm new, but this seems strange. appreciate any insights and how to debug this Emby is runing on latest MacOS and latest emby version Z

You don't want to do this as it opens all ports for that LAN IP. All unsolicited requests from the internet will be forwarded to your Emby host. Find docs or online guides for your router and setup forwarding for the Emby ports you want to allow. And disable UPnP as well.

Okay problem solved thanks to Lessaj!!! In case anyone else has this issue, after setting my gateway as a passthrough, I was still not able to access my WAN server. I went back into my router settings, removed all port forwarding and inbound filters. Then I made sure my UPnP was enabled. Finally I set the devices LAN IP as a DMZ. I'm not sure if this was the best way of doing everything but I finally have access back to my emby outside of my LAN. Thank you all for your input but thank you especially to Lessaj. You sent me down the right path.

Hi, sounds to me your content is HDR (most likely to be Dolby Vision) but your player or display doesn’t support it. Would make sense as you said you have a Samsung TV, some DV content does include HDR10 metadata but it isn’t a given. Might be worth turning on Tone Mapping within the Transcoding settings on your server.

Have you looked to see whether the browser is reporting an error somewhere? Because the server log simply shows the web client shutting down. Also, is the problem specific to this one file? Have you played it in Emby before? In any case, a worthwhile step for a problem MKV file is simply to remux it using MKVToolNix - this is a quick process, and doesn't involve any changes to the actual video or audio, but has often been known to fix puzzling issues. @LukeI reproduced the issue of the content freezing and emby app crashing with logging enabled. It looks like the way to get the logs on the Emby for Android app on the TV is a bit different from what is in the link that you shared, I went into the app settings and under 'Emby for Android Settings', then Logs, I enabled logging and I have the logs, but whenever I select them and go to share, it just opens up the Amazon silk browser. Is there an easy way to share them?

Why am i getting purple and green movies in emby? It´s with the native emby app, also app in Samsung TV is getting purple and green movies. I dont have this issue with plex, i dont have this issue with Jellyfin. What is wrong and how can this be mitigated?

Okay I restarted both gateway and router and this is what I have now. Glad to know I'm not behind a CGNAT. Still don't have access to my WAN server but I'm one step closer.

I would like to know this too. Playlist (Live) seems perfect but I dont want to add too much extra overhead on my server. How does it work in the background? Is it just keeping an eye on the time a show starts and putting us at the point of the show depending on the current time when we click on the channel? i.e. no extra overhead?

Yes the change may not apply right away, a recycle of the device(s) or at the very least an interface release/renew is a good idea. I think you should see your actual external IP on the MSI router afterwards. I think this method is the same thing as what my ISP gateway calls DMZ, I can only assign a single device to be in the DMZ which would work for my WAN interface on pfSense but I have a second interface that I also use so that would still need to have port fowarding rules and be double NAT. I don't think there' any measurable performance trade off to run it in router mode either way.

For what it's worth you don't need to use DHCP-fixed for passthrough. You can use DHCP-dynamic without needing additional details as long as you only have one device, your router, connected to the AT&T gateway LAN ports. Also restart gateway and router after you make the changes.

Yeah I did the drop down menu and it just puts it in the window. Still doesn't work but I think we were on the right track.

Ive notice that the live tv guide on the Apple TV doesn't display the season and episode number when you hover over the show like how other clients do. You have to click on the episode to see what season and episode number it is. It also doesn't display if its a repeat/premiere/live/new unless you click on it. Seems the detail screen is missing quite a bit of data and could use a revamp. Also would be nice to have the colored backgrounds option based on the category of the show or movie like other clients. This is also the case with my guide as well. so you don't have it set up incorrectly. I think this might just be a mistake/bug. Hopefully it gets fixed in the near future.
