    Subtitles not showing

HI, what example are we focusing on here?

    recent nvidia shield update

Hi. Either use the standard app as suggested or you can join the beta for the Android TV app and I believe your issues should be solved.

    Subtitles not showing

I have a video with subtitles, however they are not showing up at all. I have ripped them out of the MKV to check, and they have text at the time I am looking. If I download subtitles using emby's system, the newly download subtitles work great. I attached the embyserver log file, debug logging is on as this was my dev server. I have tried this on my primary server and I get the same results. Any Ideas? embyserver.txt

"Ray" is a new player created by OS and it automatically creates and uploads subtitles to their database.

Status of Dolby Vision Profile 5.0 transcoding?

Honestly, I had about 15 movies and 30 or so episodes. I wrote a script to do the conversion, that worked for all but 4 or 5 files. For those the pulling of the RPU data using using dovi_tool was empty, so I just req-acquired them. I think marked each file with "-DV" so a user would know. Is there any "sure file" way for emby to ask the client if they support DV Profile 5? Or if they dont support DV 10 fallback? Thanks for the info. Scott

Status of Dolby Vision Profile 5.0 transcoding?

Probably not. Again DV is proprietary and Emby's hands are tied. If you want to do anything with these files, you must do it manually. Even Plex doesn't support tone mapping of DV because of licensing. InFuse does it client side as they have a license for it, apparently. People need to give up on DV, and come to the realization that if you don't have the proper hardware, it's just not going to work. Segregate your files. I have a separate DV library myself. I only give access to those that have the right hardware, which is what people need to start doing.

    recent nvidia shield update

Hello, Just in case you mind not tolerating for more questions: what is the best source for previous versions? I found 2.1.48g at https://apkpure.com/emby-for-android-tv/tv.emby.embyatv. I am surprised I have yet to find it from emby. Is it so strange to request previous versions of an app? if apkpure is not trusted, please recommend how to go to previous app, 2.1.48g. Thank you.

Do you have open subtitles vip?
  13. OK try refreshing the metadata on the movie and see if that helps.

I'm not sure OS does the actual populating of their DBs themselves. It's my understanding that it's a community effort. So, really, we will only benefit from this if the community around subtitles (including Emby) specifically doesn't take the attitude of "others will do it". We're the ones that do it unless I'm just totally wrong about what OS is (and I may be). If I'm watching or otherwise in possession of a film title without subs available (or with inadequate subs available), my hope would be to have a workflow built into Emby server (or maybe even from the frontend) that allowed a user to initiate the generation of subs which results in a complete file in your local filesystem, but which is also submitted to OS.

Search Very Slow (3 minute response)

.23 beta seems to have fixed the slow search for safari, web, and windows app so I am happy. TY devs.
  17. Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

    User switching?

Is there an easier way to switch users than having to go into the settings, then the add-ons, then navigating to EmbyCon, then finding the right settings page...? As I posted in the General section I'd love to set it up so that a specific user logging in on my Shield automatically logged them on in EmbyCon on my UGOOS AM6B+, but even an easier way of switching user when flicking over to the UGOOS would be good. I use the UGOOS for HDR and 3D, and the Shield for everything else. I have an automation set up in Home Assistant that checks on playback start if a movie is either of those things, and if so it stops playback and shifts my AVR over to the UGOOS input. I then have a ”Recently Watched” list on my home screen, and the movie I just started is at the top of the list. Problem is, this breaks if someone else logs into Emby on the Shield via their account, and then tries to watch something that's either 3D or HDR, because a) it doesn't show up in the Recently Watched list and b) they'd end up using my account to watch it if they were to navigate to it manually. And expecting them to go through the ridiculously convoluted user-switching process in EmbyCon is a non-starter.
  20. Known issue with media playback for audio. Does this issue also cause subtitles to go out of sync? Subs also rely on timecode to stay in sync. I think it could be the reason for getting out of sync after pausing. Transcoding resetting the sync makes more sense because that would reset the timecode sync. https://watchtogether.watch/blog/why-video-is-out-of-sync Is this sync issue inherent to the playback limitations for media files with pauses? I am unsure anything can be done.

    Ray by OpenSubtitles.com

Unfortunately, that opens a huge can of worms for us because it now is uploading information about your library to a 3rd party. If OS is successful with this "Ray" project, then this will take care of itself because the information will get there through them.

    Live TV Stopping

This is a known issue that has never been resolved. No matter what method of live tv streaming I add to the server it will work just fine until there is an ad break which then breaks the stream and the only solution is to back out of the stream and relaunch it, but then you miss the beginning of the show or movie as soon as it resumes from ad break on the station.

    Ray by OpenSubtitles.com

Not as the plugin currently functions. My feature request is to expand the functionality by allowing the full use of the new "Ray" feature by open subtitles. Anyone who uses OS will benefit from the new method by which subtitles are being generated because it will fill in all the gaps. But there are a lot more functional use cases for deeper integration: fixing subtitle offsets, generating SDH sound descriptions for a host of titles that pre-dated the practice and blending them into existing subtitles, translation. Honestly, translation could be done in the video itself with currently available technology by changing mouth movements and regenerating dialog in new languages. Lots of possibilities. Not all of them will be the right choice, but I would love to see movement toward some of these new technologies to see what creative things come out of it.

    Export/Import Music Playlist ?

Ouhou thanks a lot it works I have forced a refresh of both Music and Playlist libraries in Emby and then stats of the playlist showed and all tracks and if I play it it works Just for my Emby culture, only public playlists are still stored in m3u files right ? or only ones that were created with old instances ? but private playlists are stored in db ?
  25. get in there! imagine what i can achieve in the next 3 years.
  26. Server: 4.9.5.0 (Linux) Client: Emby for Roku 4.1.65, Roku OS 15.2.4 (Roku Streaming Stick 4K) Playback: audio transcoded to AAC, video stream-copied (video reports as Direct Play), subtitles delivered as HLS On transcoded playback, pausing and resuming causes the video to "jump back" and replay a few seconds, after which the subtitles are permanently out of sync for the rest of playback. It recurs on every pause/resume cycle and the jump back usually occurs within 30 seconds of resuming (Running out a client-side cache?). Selecting a different subtitle track during playback re-aligns everything until the next pause/resume cycle, at which point it happens again. If only one subtitle track exists, the video must be stopped and restarted to re-sync everything. The logs suggest that upon resume, emby relaunches the transcode process with a seek offset which is probably causing the noticeable jump back, but the subtitle stream doesn't get the memo. You also can't turn the current subtitle track "off and back on" as a solution. You have to do something that causes the server to re-issue the subtitle stream for the current position. So I guess turning off a subtitle track just disables the visual display but the stream stays alive somewhere and never gets corrected. Re-displaying it just shows the same stream with the same problem. I'd prefer to send log files via PM. I have the server log for the time in question as well as four ffmpeg jobs. All available upon request.
