ConsoleKing started following Stats for Nerds on Emby App
-
I used to use the AndroidTV app and on my remote if I held the enter/action (middle button) for a few seconds the 'stats for nerds' info popup would show up. I moved over to the regular app on the TV but found out this no longer works, is there any other quick fire way/shortcut to bring up this information instead or is this not a function on the regular app. Thanking you in advance!

HLS transcoding for Apple's native player: fMP4 segments, and an HDR + SDR variant pair
vdatanet replied to vdatanet's topic in Developer API
No plans for iOS at the moment — Apple TV is my only target for now. The app is built specifically around the tvOS experience (focus engine, remote, big-screen playback), so an iOS version would be a separate project rather than a quick port. Thanks for asking! -

TV Show Status — TMDB-powered Returning/Ended/Cancelled badges for series
Blueskies278 replied to Blueskies278's topic in Plugins
TV Show Status — beta Thanks for testing. This is a beta: it works on my UGREEN iDX6011 Pro NAS running Emby in Docker, and hasn't been tested on other platforms. What it does Shows a TV series' status — Returning, Ended, Cancelled, or the next air date — where you can actually see it. Three separate ways, and they work independently: Poster overlay Reaches every client, including the TV apps. Modifies cached artwork only — your real image files are never touched. Web badge Web browser only. Doesn't touch your library at all. Status in description Reaches every client. Writes to the overview field, so it does change your library metadata. The poster overlay is the main thing to try. It draws the badge into the image on the server, so it appears on Android TV, Fire TV, tvOS and the mobile apps as well as the browser — with nothing installed on the device. Also worth installing: my Trakt Air Dates plugin. If you're outside the US, it fixes air dates landing a day early — and this plugin picks up its corrections automatically. See the bottom of this page for why that happens at all. Installing Copy EmbyTVShowStatus.dll into your Emby plugins folder Restart Emby Open Settings → Plugins → TV Show Status Put in a TMDB API key (free, from themoviedb.org) Check the three status boxes on that page Works on NAS/Docker, Linux, Windows and macOS. No platform-specific setup, and no hardcoded paths — the plugin prints whatever path it resolved at runtime. If you are upgrading from an earlier build Two settings reset to their defaults. This is expected, not a bug — the options were renamed because their meaning changed, so old saved values no longer match anything. What the overlay reports → Show status only What to badge on thumbnails → Only 'Complete' Set them again. Nothing else is affected. The three status boxes The settings page reports its own state rather than failing quietly. Please read them before reporting anything — they usually say exactly what's wrong. Web Badge/Description Script — whether the browser badge deployed. On Docker this can need one chown; the box prints the exact command for your platform. Air Dates — which source dates come from. Poster Overlay — what the overlay is doing, and if you've named a user for "ready to binge", whether that name actually matches an Emby account. What would be genuinely useful to hear Does the badge look right on your artwork? Size, position, opacity are all adjustable. If the defaults look wrong on your library, that's worth knowing. Is it readable on a TV? If it looks soft, try Overlay badge background → Medium. That's measurably clearer on the sort of downscaled image a TV app receives. Are the dates right? They should match your Upcoming list. If one is a day out, tell me which show. Anything that fails silently. If something appears to do nothing, that's the bug I most want to hear about — most of this plugin's worst bugs looked like features working badly rather than features being broken. Known limitations, so you don't spend time on them Your library's thumbnail view and the Upcoming list can't have different badges. Both ask Emby for the same series thumbnail — one file, two screens. Whatever you set for one applies to the other. If you want full badges with dates and a clean Upcoming, use poster view for the library; Upcoming never requests a poster. A date badge on an Upcoming card can look wrong. It shows the series' next episode date, so on a card for a later episode it's a different day — "26 Aug" sitting under "Thursday 27 Aug". Correct for the show, useless on that card. That's why Only Complete is the default there. Badges on the TV apps have to be baked into the image. A plugin can't draw into an app's interface; Emby exposes no way to do it. If you'd rather your artwork wasn't touched at all, Prepend status to show description reaches every client, but it's plain text with no icon or colour. "Draw badges on library cards" is browser-only. It does nothing on the TV apps. Off by default. Turning it off Untick Draw the badge into poster images and your original artwork returns as Emby regenerates its cache. Your real image files are never modified — only Emby's cached copies — so nothing is permanently changed. Air dates — and a companion plugin worth running TMDB stores an air date as a bare date, with no time and no timezone. So a US show broadcast at 8pm Eastern is recorded as that day in America — and read literally, that's the previous calendar day for anyone in the UK or Europe. The result is episodes showing up under the wrong day in Upcoming, and badges that disagree with the list they're sitting next to. I'd recommend running my other plugin, Trakt Air Dates, alongside this one. https://emby.media/community/topic/148586-trakt-air-dates-—-outside-the-us-fixes-us-shows-landing-on-the-wrong-day/#findComment-1535373 It fixes that at the source: Trakt returns a real UTC timestamp for every episode rather than a bare date, so the day is converted properly for wherever you are. It corrects your Upcoming list, and TV Show Status picks up those same corrected dates automatically — no configuration, nothing to link up. Install it and this plugin starts using it. Some detail worth knowing: US and Canadian shows only. Deliberate on both sides. A show released at midnight in its own country doesn't have this problem, and "correcting" it would create one — an earlier build did exactly that and shifted a show a day the wrong way. Optional, not required. Without it, TMDB's dates are used as-is. That's a perfectly normal setup and nothing will break. The Air Dates box on the settings page tells you which source is in use, so you never have to guess whether it's connected. If you're outside the US and watch US shows, it's the difference between an Upcoming list you can trust and one that's quietly a day out. Still looking into this. Shows from elsewhere — anywhere in a timezone ahead of you — keep TMDB's own dates for now, because the correction that helps US shows would push those the wrong way. Whether that can be handled properly rather than just skipped is something I'm working on. EmbyTVShowStatus.dll TVShowStatus-2.5.54.0-Release-Notes.pdf TVShowStatus-Settings-Reference.pdf -

TV Show Status — TMDB-powered Returning/Ended/Cancelled badges for series
ginjaninja replied to Blueskies278's topic in Plugins
Im not speaking from experience and i might have misunderstood the issue but my observations are: (I am assuming that IImageEnhancer is an offline task which doesnt slow down realtime use) As long as the right information can be displayed everywhere with options then the more the merrier. Series are Continuing or Finished (+ other statuses?) Seasons are premiered (Only premiere exists), continuing or ended (Ended exists) (assuming this level of attribution is loggically possible from the provider information) Episodes are Premiere or Finale or nothing special. (but part of a season or show that is continuing or finishes or some such) But if there is a risk that different clients use different artwork in different places (eg thumbs example) then maybe it is safer to have best defaults but provide user an option as to what images get treated in what way. (needs to be thought through as image realestate is at a premium). i am mindful that A Show can be ended, but premier or finale episode is still a premier or finale episode (they are different axis) Season Ended is probably the most important to me and that is on continue watching and that is probbably a season thumb (almost never) if it exists otherwise a series thumb. Where i would use started or ended at the series level would be on recently added (show series poster on android client). At the episode level, i think "finale" is the most interesting flag on the episode level. I know Luke has always said that upcoming is a pain in the arse and cause no end of challenges but you can but try. Might be hard to get right first time, but with enough options and community feedback it wont take too long to find the right answers. not 100% coherent but some random thoughts, some might be relevent. -
Try going to te user's profile options. I'm not sure about Android admin.
-
There seems to be a bug with that. I will look into it when i have the time. That said, i encourage you to try As there are a few limitations i never got fixed in my plugin. For example a library scan or a long wait would be needed for any new strm files to show, i never got Emby to automatically start a scan of the library, also something i need to fix. It's all on my todo list but this plugin is on low priority atm.

When adding a new user, I'm not seeing the ability to input a password under the user's section. Edit: I found it. Didn't scroll over far enough
-
My situation is I want to be able to play an icecast stream I have running via Android Auto. I have it working as a .strm file in a mixed library, I can navigate to it and play on TV etc but this won't work in the car. I made a test music library and placed it in there under a folder so it was like an album structure but it will not recognize it. Ideally I want to have a AA shortcut to play this stream. Is this possible currently?
-
Well, that whole screen isn't exactly my whole Emby? Did it lead you to the answer? Can you explain a little bit more for dunces like me? You can see that the images are scrunched up like 2vertical:1horizontal. There is plenty of room in the card to make it look decent, don't know why we don't do it.
-
the BT.2390 algorithm would be my preferred "fix" or preference for algorithm (not curve, "linear" is a n algorithm and is by definition not a curve) is and i am lacking that option. the fix would be to provide that option, as it is literally the industry standard for tone mapping color accuracy. it would also be nice to have other parameters, but literally lacking an option for the industry standard for color mapping is unacceptable as a paying customer. again, unless i can set this in an xml somewhere, it must be addressed
-
Your hardware path is fine. The chain is hevc_qsv → vpp_qsv → hwmap to OpenCL → tonemap_opencl → hwmap back to QSV, running at 77 fps / 3.2x on an Alder Lake-N. No OpenCL device-derive failure, no software fallback. So this isn't the 4.9.3-era regression a lot of people hit. Your GPU is doing the work; you just don't like the result. Which brings me to the part I think is the real answer to your question. You said none of the three tone map options is watchable. That's expected: the three options only swap the curve — hable, mobius, reinhard. Everything that's actually hurting you — 8-bit output, no dither, desat disabled, unknown peak — is identical across all three. Changing the setting cannot fix any of your three symptoms, which is why it feels like there's no fix.

embyforkodi (next-gen) 12.X.X support
daniel.bmyer replied to quickmic's topic in Emby For Kodi Next Gen
Hi, now that I have some time to work on Emby, there are a few things I'm hoping I can get some help figuring out. I have some movies that have two parts. Ex Lawrence of Arabia. I have both parts in one folder, one labeled Part 1 and the other Part 2. My Nvidia Shield using Emby sees both parts and when I click on the main title, it allows me to select either part 1 or part 2 but with Next Gen and using Estuary Mod V2 Omega it only sees part 1. Not sure how to get it to see both parts. Any assistance would be appreciated for that. As well, is there a way to change the order of the options on the top of the screen when I select Movies? Right now it dispays Recently Added, Last Watched, then Titles. I'd like to put Titles first. Not sure where to look to change that. Also, not sure if this is possible but on my emby server I have a TV Series Library and a TV Shows Library. The TV Shows Library is just for temp shows that I watch and delete and don't bother keeping. My Nvidia Shield TV sees both as separate, but using Next Gen/Estuary, it dumps them all into one called TV Shows. Is there a way that I can change something to separate them out? If someone can point me in the right direction, I'd greatly appreciate it. -

EMBY_PLAYLIST_STUDIO_COMUNIDAD_v1.7.1.zip -

Before anyone can say whether this is a bug, a config issue, or a genuine gap, it would help a lot to know exactly what you're running. Could you post: **Hardware / host** - CPU and GPU (exact model — e.g. i5-12500 with UHD 770, or GTX 1660, or an AMD APU) - OS, and whether Emby is bare metal, Docker, or a NAS package **Emby config** - Emby Server version - Which hardware acceleration backend you have selected (QSV, NVENC, VA-API, AMF, none) - Which tone mapping option you're using, and the values you have for the tone mapping parameters if you've touched them - A transcode log from one of the bad playbacks — that shows the exact filter chain being built, which is the single most useful thing here **Source and client** - Is the source HDR10, HLG, or Dolby Vision? If DV, which profile? Profile 5 in particular has no usable HDR10 base layer, and washed-out or oversaturated output on that is expected behaviour rather than a tone mapping quality problem - Bit depth and codec of the file - Which client and device, and whether it's transcoding because of bandwidth, codec, or subtitle burn-in With the transcode log and the source details, it should be fairly quick to tell whether you're hitting a known limitation, a missing runtime, or something worth filing.

at the risk of sounding rude, or like a karen/kevin, I'm going to be frank, this is now unacceptable. a few years ago, this could be ignored. but if this isnt resolved in a few months, and i cant write a pugin to fix it, this organization going to be 5 bucks a month poorer unless you can tell me how one fixes this? but my instincts say "thats the neat thing; you dont!" none of the three whole entire tone map options we have do anything close to something watchable for me. I'm literally paying for color saturation, banding, and artifacts, while two free options can do this well this MUST be addressed. And as a monthly paying customer for more than half a decade, the $500 of my money you have should get me more than this. I feel i deserve an explanation for why it hasn't been addressed, and an eta for when it will be addressed. i am a developer, i understand it takes time, testing, but the deadline is near, if not here.
