I made a test instance of Emby to have a look at the plugin, and I must say it is NICE. VERY NICE. Excellent work. Not really a fan of the AI craze but your ideas seems to be quite useful and non intrusive. Could be a nice addition to suggested videos. I must have over looked it, but the plugin does not seem to handle music videos at all. Did I miss something? I also have to say thanks for the detailed write ups. They have made the plugin easier to understand and also make your intent for each feature very clear. I, and I suspect others, are truly grateful for that. A Million thanks, LongMan

I'm still waiting for the plugin update to get into the catalog. It's idiotic to continue providing updates as dl in the forums while the version in the catalog is largely unusable..

Oooookay, Im betting that's probably why TL was part of the equation. I follow, yeah I think I may stick to your route since MOST of my library is as good as its gonna get by now, I dont expect the updated files will be terribly frequent. Thank you both!
-
No. Emby is currently not aware of the concept of "updated" item - it's either existing item or a new item. You can always save NFOs with media (and rename it accordingly upon "updated" movie file moved to relevant movie folder), so all metadata (including original Date Added which'll be honored ) will be preserved.
-
Ok, Im cool with all that. Whats done is done I suppose. Last question, and please know Im extremely grateful for the help.... If Radarr finds a better version OF THE SAME MOVIE already in Emby, is Emby able to realize that its not a "new" uploaded movie, just a revision, as it pertains to my library sort?
-
The idea would be integrating Emby into Duo, such that when a user signs in through duo they can access emby without signing in again.
-
Yes. But changes already made are irreversible (unless all those items removed and re-added).
-
Yes they should,

Hey Grim, thanks for the quick reply. I was aided in building my library/emby by family that has been doing Emby FOREVER. Perhaps it was how he prefers his library but until now I was too inexperienced to know I DIDNT want it doing that. So, moving forward, since I removed the Time Lord trigger, all NEWLY ADDED movies SHOULD present at the top when sorted, correct?

I would provide logs were this a software error issue, really Im just looking for someone that might know more than be about how I probably set something up incorrectly. I dont think Emby is malfunctioning just maybe conflicting settings or one thing taking precedence over another. Time Lord had a trigger to do this action every morning....I have since removed it. I still wouldnt think that would override the librarys ability to sort by date added entirely but maybe Im wrong

It is. Why did you install it in the first place (as it is not one of the default plugins that come with the vanilla server), what were you hoping to achieve?
-
i think this is something that needs to be looked in to. The audio is Truehd (I havent experimented with much with other audio formats), but when its converted server side it changes the colors of Dolby Vision content which is not seen when the transcoding permissions are taken away and the Apple TV itself is forced to convert it device side which would be the better way anyways since it it putting less load on the server and seems to be faster at loading the content, especially when it comes to transcoding subtitles on 4k content, it is a breeze when you have the Apple TV itself handle it rather than the server.

I am rather new to Emby and Im doing my best to find my way before asking for help but at this point Im at a loss. This is probably a seemingly trivial thing to most I imagine but in my library I like to be able to sort my MOVIES by RECENTLY ADDED (translation: those most recently uploaded to the library). Im not so lazy as to not realize that sorting by "Date Added" is already a default option, as is "Release date", the problem Im encountering is that the results of each ARE THE SAME (see pics) and I dont know how to fix. I do have Date Added behavior set to "date scanned into library" but I dont know if maybe Time Lord is screwing it up so it wont even sort by added in the library. Thoughts, suggestions? Thanks in advance!

[BUG] The playback progress of ISO disc movies is not sync to the Emby server.
quickmic replied to chuwz's topic in Emby For Kodi Next Gen
@Luke -
That is not feasible, each filename change will result in Emby seeing that item as newly added (if you save NFOs with media, all metadata will be retained - including original Date Added, which'll be honored for renamed file, just rename the NFO accordingly).

It won't, unless it's a multi-version movie. Movie filenames are not important in typical scenarios (single movie per folder) - folder names are, you can write whatever you want in the actual <moviefilename>.ext.

Hello I am having playback problems on Roku devices for some videos that work in other Apps. Maybe this is the same problem or not, I can create a new post. Problem: I just get a spinning wheel on the Roku app and it generates dozens of transcode logs as it tries again. Troubleshooting: I tried playing around with the Roku app playback settings including disabling HVEC in Roku app with no change. One of the Roku ffmpeg log is attached. Server log available upon request as a DM. TYIA ffmpeg-transcode-(Roku-error).txt

Fine. But Emby doesn't provide media, only software. If you have a problem with a service, whether it is a friend's or whatever, Emby (and members of this forum) cannot help you; only the person who runs the server can help. This is the place to come for help, if you run a server yourself or have a problem with a client itself - but logins are solely the business of whoever runs the server. Think of this forum as an extension of the user guide for the software. Paul

New stable release - Version 3.2.0.0 Download .dll and full release notes: https://github.com/soderlund91/HomeScreenCompanion/releases/tag/v3.2.0.0 This updates bring some new AI features and a remade way to set tags an create collections. Also adapting the home screen section filters with Emby server 4.10.0.6 where we now can add a filter for watched/unwatched status. And as always some fixes. IMPORTANT! Minimum required Emby server v4.10.0.6 Note Make sure to back up your settings before updating, just in case. Both the plugin and Emby (user data) Note Included a .NET V6 release, this is for MacOS or legacy support. This version is NOT tested. New features Added AI-generated lists as an option for source. Updates & Improvements Updated home screen section settings in according with Emby server 4.10.0.6. Now we can select to filter with play-status. (currently Emby server is having bugs with this feature, but this plugin will support the function) When selecting Media Type = Episode, there is now an option to also check towards the parent series (tree crawl) if the series match. Added ability to enter multiple options in text fields, separated by comma. For example Actor=Tom Hanks, Idris Elba, Edward Norton Studio=Netflix, HBO, etc Overview=Christmas, halloween Added function for better control of tags and collections: Remade tag/collection logic for Media Type=Episode (introduced in v3.1.2.0). In previous release this was made so episodes where tagged or added to collections. This logic is now moved into the Tag and Collection tabs. See below for more info. If you where using this to tag episodes, make sure to update according to the new way to set tags to episodes! Fixes UI: Some smaller UI fixes Bug fix: Fixed an issue where external list from MDBList only fetched up to 1000 items. This is now unlimited. _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ New way to select Tag and Collection level You can now control at which level tags and collections are applied when using the MediaInfo (smart filter) source — independently for tags and collections. Tag tab — a new "For TV shows, tag at level" section lets you choose one or more of: Series, Season, Episode. Collection tab — a new "For TV shows, add to collection at level" section with the same options. These two settings are fully independent. For example, you can tag individual episodes while adding the parent series to a collection — all from the same filter. How scan scope and output level work: The filter determines what gets scanned. By default, the scanner processes movies and series. Adding a Media Type = Episode filter rule switches the scanner to episode-level, giving you access to episode-specific metadata. The tab checkboxes determine where the result goes, regardless of what was scanned: Filters/Scanning Tagging/Collection Result Scanning series Seasons all seasons of matched series Scanning series Episode all episodes of matched series Scanning episodes Series the parent series is tagged/collected Scanning episodes Season the parent season is tagged/collected _____________________________________________________________________________________________________________ Information about the new AI feature This function is 100% optional. Just type what you want and the selected AI will give you a response that is already adapted for the plugin to read. It's enough to type "Give me good horror movies", and the plugin will also add (invisible to the user) instructions. NOTE The AI function will NEVER send any sensitive data. No user ID, no usernames, no server information etc. See below for exactly what information that is sent Below is the full promt that the plugin will send. You are a movie and TV show recommendation assistant. Respond ONLY with a valid JSON array. No explanation, no markdown, no code fences. Each item must have these fields: "title" (string, required), "year" (integer or null), "imdb_id" (string starting with "tt" if known, otherwise null), "type" ("movie" or "show"). Return exactly the items requested. Do not add any commentary. Example: [{"title":"Inception","year":2010,"imdb_id":"tt1375666","type":"movie"}] Give me good horror movies (This is the user promt) Return up to 20 items. NiceMarmut started following Live TV should report Title (not channel)
-
An iPhone has basically automatic Apple TV controls built in to the lock screen when media is playing, there are also other places, like widgets where it is possible to see what's playing. I noticed that Emby reports the current Channel (but not the title), and the time shows as :20, whereas ChannelsDVR app shows the Title and says Live. Might be worth looking at.
