I have added the latest Episode of One Piece (S01E1180), but Emby fails to get the Metadata from TVDB. The Episode is availabe on the Site. I have removed and readded the item, but still get the same result. Tried a metadata refresh with no luck. I've had some issues with ass/ssa subtitles overloading my tv cpu. In particular some karaoke timing in anime subtitles have thousands of subtitle changes for just an opening song. And recently I've watched an anime show that had all sorts of complicated vector drawings in its subtitles (stat boxes in a litrpg), causing massive stutters. Batch converting ass to srt is pretty easy, but that also loses the nice static formatting that isn't causing issues. So I (Sol/Astra LLM) made some scripts to try improve that. Text is made static, while still keeping as much of its formatting as possible. On the high end, some if the subtitles (files when extracted) went from 14MB to 40kB. This complete fixed any karaoke stutter. There is also a "partial" mode that attempts to keep some of the vector drawings, but still simplifies those as much as possible. Vector drawings still cause some small stutters on my tv, but nothing major. But I don't have enough shows with vector drawings in its subtitles to fully test that. https://github.com/cnieuweboer/Simplify-ass-subtitles

Oh that is very helpful, thank you. Haven't visited this section of the Dashboard in a bit. So I manually ran: Scan media library It had said the last time it ran it took over two minutes, but this manual run was very fast: Last ran 1 second ago, taking 12 seconds. Would there be anything different on how that happens? When I caught it running for the few minutes the other day, I did not think my library had changed all that much -- so I was confused why it was running so long. It does make sense if I had a lot of changes in the library. Anyway, while it was running it didn't show anything other than it was running. It looks like the other functions you mention are their own scheduled tasks, and the media library scan runs on its own.

Indeed, but I cannot remove the download without being connected to the server (or erasing all the data at once in my embt app on my phone).

I havent read the full post here but when i have any that have a 10 rating, if i manually re-identify the movie it then pulls through a rating and the overlay corrects itself. Not sure if this helps

Now that the new API is released on wetrakr, I did a major update on the Emby plugin. Scrobbles, syncs watch history, favorites ,

I upgraded to 5.60.2.0 beta but it still shows a rating of 10 for empty ratings unfortunately. I changed the Icon to a custom IMDB icon, if that makes any difference?

It has been 9 years, 2 levels folders at least. Collection and Sub collection.

Some settings were even meant for just me to test and improve the plugin with, i just never thought about removing them again.

@yockerI think this is a good idea If I where to install the plugin today, for the first time, not knowing the things I know about it. I would also be lost, just by the amount of settings to play with. Some feature can interfere with others, making the outcome worse. If I had not been using the plugin since day 1, following along, and testing features as they rolled in. I would have been clueless

Any file structure system. They already implemented it and then removed it due to UI issues. I am literally talking about, at most, 5 sets of nested folders. Again this is for things like marvel collections but also for organisation. If a file system can do it, a media organiser can do it. That is the entire point, to organise media. If you can organise media into movies, tv series and seasons... you have already created 2 levels,. Tv show and Series.

Adding to what Luke said, the quick way to see it without reading the whole log: open Dashboard, then Scheduled Tasks while a scan is running, and look at which task is actually active and its progress. In my experience the scan itself is quick and the long part is the add-ons that run with it, like chapter image or thumbnail extraction and intro detection, especially right after an update when they reprocess things. Turning those off for a day is an easy test.

Until Emby handles it natively, the no-delete workaround I'd use is splitting by folder. Keep the FLAC and MP3 copies in separate top level folders (Music/FLAC and Music/MP3 for example), point your main Music library only at the FLAC folder, and if you want the MP3s for phones or the car, make a second library for just that folder and only give that library to the users or devices that need it. Nothing gets deleted and you stop seeing every album twice.

Not staff, but one thing worth checking while you wait on Luke: on Linux the 255 limit is per file or folder name in bytes, not characters, and each Chinese/Japanese character is 3 bytes in UTF-8. So a name that looks like 90 characters can already be over. If nothing does, it's more likely the cloud mount itself (the old thread you linked ended up being that), and your log is the way to go.

One thing that saved me a ton of headaches with remakes and multi-title movies: put the release year in the folder and file name, like Scary Movie (2026). Emby stops guessing and grabs the exact one every time, and with Godzilla having like 30 movies that matters a lot. You can do it by hand no problem. Full disclosure, I built a Mac app that does this part automatically (Media Renamer Pro). Its default naming is Title (Year) for both the file and the folder, it looks the year up for you, and shows every rename before anything moves. Original Title is still the right place for search. If you want it visible without opening the editor, putting "Also known as Invasion of Astro-Monster" as the first line of the Overview works, just lock the field so a refresh doesn't wipe it.

Tracearr's biggest problem is its' developer. I use a decent amount of Github apps and his is the ONLY ONE that has single digit open issues and hundreds, upon hundreds of closed ones and they aren't closed for the right reasons.... oh no.... you get gems like; .... somebody finds a problem and provides a wealth of information to help him fix it... issue closed as, "AI generated slop"....despite a legitimate bug. ... don't submit every. single. bit. of information for a bug report, closed out with "Didn't provide required documentation to demonstrate there's an actual problem."...... despite there clearly being a problem and the person who opened it might not know what piece of the missing puzzle they needed to submit.....oh well, CLOSED! The dev doesn't write, "I acknowledge that this could be a bug but I need XYZ to dig in, please provide that then I can take a look". Nope, just closes it no matter that the problem is because the person forgot a small detail in the original bug report. Or he'll ask the person reporting the bug a question about their setup and instead of waiting on a reply, he just freaking closes the issue. It's shocking how much deflection he does. It's like he has this burning hatred for the people that use his software. I had to stop using it because his attitude is disgusting and abhorrent. If you don't believe me, take a look through the mountain of closed issues and compare the open/close ratio to other apps like Immich, Jellyfin, etc.

Hi all. I'm the solo developer of Media Renamer Pro, and GrimReaper okayed this thread before I posted it. The short version: it renames movies, TV episodes, music, audiobooks, photos and game ROMs using the metadata inside the files plus optional online lookups, then shows you every single rename before anything moves. You can edit any row, conflicts are caught up front, and the whole batch undoes. Why it might matter to an Emby library: It works directly on mounted SMB/NAS shares, which is where my own library lives and where I kept getting burned. Renaming is two-phase through temp names, so chains and swaps (A to B while B is waiting to become C) don't eat files. There's an {original} token in every naming template, so you can add clean titles and episode numbers without throwing away release group or quality tags. Optional subtitle carrying: rename a movie and its .srt/.ass/.sup/etc. follow it, keeping .en.forced style language tags. Off by default, under Settings then Exclusions. What it deliberately does NOT touch, and why: .nfo files. A media server can prefer a local .nfo over its online lookup, so a stale one carried along can quietly preserve a wrong match. Better to let Emby rebuild it. Artwork (poster, fanart, banner). Those are found by exact filename, so renaming them tends to break things rather than fix them. Honest limits: It runs on a Mac, iPhone or iPad, not on the server itself. If your Emby box is Linux or Windows, you'd use it from a Mac or iPad that can see the share. No trial. The App Store only does trials for subscriptions and I didn't want to turn this into one. If you only have a couple hundred files, a script or FileBot may do everything you need. I saw several references that for this to work in Emby you need the donor version. I made a donation at the comskip site but haven't been provided any info for the donor version. What am I missing? Thanks.

Hi, thnx for this great program. I`ve tested xnoppo in the past but it didn`t work flawless for me. I`ve got emby runnning on a homebuild server with openmediavault, a LG OLED 65G6, marantz nr1711 and a chinoppo (sold my oppo 203 ) and sofar it works perfectly. Only little thing i could find is that the chinoppo needs to be turned on before i use Emby, home cinema control doesn`t activate the player.

Nested groups using SQL dbase is a complex issue. Easy to describe, but difficult to code. It's the "Easier said than done" type. Most online sites do not offer this type of nested selection. Even the search engines avoid it. I can't think of an online example. If you know of a site that does it, perhaps list it in this post. It could be helpful. Consider, if rolling out a new feature might estimate as taking, say, 60 hours of dev time and perhaps ongoing support of say, 6 hours annually. You multiple what dev hours cost and divide by how many users have agreed that the feature is a good one. Then you get the cost per user who wants to use the feature. Also important, is how easy would the feature be to market it as a bonus for the software? I would imagine features may not be given the green light, if cost per user goes up too high. It is easy to come to averages that are more than $1000 / user pretty quick. Finally, you don't really want to slow down the response time for anyone, so new features need to be designed to only kick in when a user clicks on it, and not have to run in the background, because that could slow other pages on the server. That can be tricky to do.

About to test it, and your BespokeDB - just downloaded today. Will let you know how it goes, any feedback etc. But I look the idea of these - I personally run a seperate library with my Criterion versions, independant of other libraries, but I would much prefer a solution like this. Cheers
