gene0915 started following ffprobe reading hundreds of MB from remote NZBDav library during scan — can probe size be limited?
-
I was messing around with InfiniDysk (a fork of NZBDav) and added a library full of symlinks to Emby through an rclone VFS mount. The library path Emby sees is: /mnt/md0/NZBDav/... rclone is using VFS cache mode full with: --vfs-read-chunk-size=16M --vfs-read-chunk-size-limit=512M --vfs-read-ahead=512M --buffer-size=0M During Emby's initial library scan, the server log shows ffprobe being launched like this: /opt/emby-server/bin/ffprobe -i file:"/mnt/md0/NZBDav/TV Shows/..." -threads 0 -v info -print_format json -show_streams -show_chapters -show_format -show_data I don't see an explicit -probesize or -analyzeduration being passed. Most files probe very quickly, usually around 0.3–0.6 seconds. However, while watching the underlying NZBDav/rclone activity, I found some ffprobe reads going far beyond the initial 16 MB VFS chunk. For example, one approximately 3.0 GB episode had already reached roughly 767 MB read while the Emby library scan was still running. There were also around 25 simultaneous active reads at that point. rclone core/stats during the scan showed multiple 3+ GB media files open at once. Some were only at 688 KB or 8–17 MB, but others continued reading much farther into the files. My concern is that on an NZBDav/Usenet-backed filesystem, a metadata scan that reads hundreds of MB from occasional files is very expensive and can trigger unnecessary article retrieval/cache activity. My questions are: Is there an officially supported way in Emby to set a maximum ffprobe -probesize for library scans? Can this be applied only to regular media-library files, rather than Live TV? Is there also a recommended -analyzeduration limit for this situation? If there is no GUI setting, is there a supported configuration file or command-line option for supplying additional ffprobe arguments? Would limiting probe size to around 10000000 bytes cause any known issues with normal MKV media detection? I would prefer not to replace or modify /opt/emby-server/bin/ffprobe directly because package updates could overwrite it, and I also don't want to unintentionally affect HDHomeRun/Tunarr Live TV probing. Ideally I would like something equivalent to: -probesize 10000000 applied only when probing files under: /mnt/md0/NZBDav/ while leaving Live TV and other ffprobe usage at Emby's defaults. If there is a supported way to accomplish that, I'd appreciate any guidance.

First time -> server thinks you have an image because it's in your db from your windows install. second time -> server has recovered from this and erased the bad link from your db When you refresh metadata it needs to be after that first time, because it will not replace existing images.

One more thing I have to mention. Maybe this will give you a clue of what is going on. The first time I open the movie/ tv show I get broken image icons. For the second time I see person icons like there are no photos available for these actors

I created a profile for her ages ago and when i downloaded the emby for firestick app on firestick her profile name comes up and then looks for a password which i cant remember ,I use edge for a browser but when i go on chrome it logs on auto to her account and works any way to find password there -
But I notice your log is from 4.9.3. You may want to update to 4.9.5 in case there's something that was resolved that I'm not remembering.

It queues up refreshes in the background that you currently can't monitor. it is the same thing as refreshing multiple movies in bulk.
-
HI, yes that would be helpful. Thanks.
-
No it does not. I have waited over 1hour and way past when the the round % icon disappeared ( it was doing 2-3 passes )
-
Yes it will, but can take a long time, and since you can't monitor the progress in the user interface yet, this can lead you into thinking that it's not working.
-
HI there, can you please provide a specific example? How to Report a Problem Thanks !

Hi there, please attach the Emby server log from when the problem occurred: How to Report a Problem Thanks!

Hi, the app should run just fine, but whether or not it's been fully translated by users I'm not sure. -

Pre-configuring a Fire TV Stick 4K in the UK for use in Ukraine (Language & Remote Access Questions)
rcsnoopdog posted a topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Hi everyone, I am planning to bring an Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (8GB, Wi-Fi 6) from Northern Ireland (UK) to Lviv, Ukraine, to give to a friend who lives there. I want to pre-configure the entire setup here in the UK so it is completely plug-and-play when I arrive. My setup will involve connecting this remote Fire Stick back to my home Emby Server hosted in Northern Ireland. My Current Server & Network Setup: Client Device: Amazon Fire TV Stick 4K (8GB, Wi-Fi 6) running the latest Emby for Fire OS app. Connection Method: Emby Connect (linked to the user's account). Server OS: Windows 11. Home Bandwidth: Approximately 93 Mbps upload speed. I would appreciate some clarity on the following three points before I travel: Pre-Configuration & Remote Roaming: Can I log into the Emby client app on the Fire Stick here in the UK using the specific Emby Connect account I created for my friend in Ukraine, and then travel with the device? Once it connects to their local Wi-Fi network in Ukraine, will Emby Connect automatically resolve the new connection back to my Windows 11 server without requiring a re-login, a new PIN link, or manual IP configuration? Geoblocking & Network Restrictions: Are there any known regional restrictions, ISP blocks, or Emby Premiere verification issues when a UK-based server streams to an Emby client operating on a Ukrainian IP address? Client-Side Language Localization: Does the Emby client app for Fire OS fully support the Ukrainian language interface? If I set the Fire Stick system language to Ukrainian, will Emby mirror this automatically, or should I change the display language manually within the Emby app settings before handing it over? Thanks in advance for the help! -
Yes, as stated, I extracted the 4 SRT files and all 4 had text + proper time codes. If you like, I can reduce the size of the file (its over 30gb) to only have about 1 minute of video or so, and Ill adjust the time code for it to work

Status of Dolby Vision Profile 5.0 transcoding?

Ill look into the sample,. thanks for the links. That might be the best way to go. I always recommend people just buy a nvidia shield -
Perhaps the OP means that even when there are no Composer tags, Emby still shows Composer in the menu tab header and the Composer page view is still accessible, but empty??? I made a test music library with only one song to confirm this: It seems that both Composers (and Genres) remain in the menu, even if there no tags, but Artists (and Playlists and Tags) do not. Testing further, Album Artists remains, with no tag, and Albums does not, but then an empty Genres also disappears: I didn't test any further possible combinations. So, there does seem to be some inconsistency, but it seems an uncommon edge-case, because I don't think too many people would be removing metadata to show less menu tabs??? I'm happy to stand corrected if this is not what the OP means... When Custom Menu Tabs is implemented (I think Emby has confirmed this) then the above use-case will likely not be an issue???

sundevil67 started following Skip Intros Feature and Web Streams Plugin Fail Error
-
I finally managed to cobble together a system that would generate .strm files from my provider's M3U files. For the movie part, I had been using Web Streams plugin, but all of a sudden I noticed this happening. If I click on "edit filter", I get that "error" popup. Anyone else using Web Streams run into this before? Thank you!
-
I have a scheduled task entitled "Detect Episode Intros".. It seems to be running without any problems, except that it doesn't work. I don't recall ever seeing a "skip intro" button, but I'd really like it if I could. I don't have the first clue of how to troubleshoot this. 95% of the TV shows I am watching are from links within strm files. Is there something I'm missing that must also be done to get this to work? Any others running Emby server on Mac OS been able to do this successfully? Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
