External player integration – can Emby send a direct file URL to an external player on Android?
Cotignac replied to Cotignac's topic in Android
Thank you for your response. To address your concerns directly: Can the Dune player handle a network URL? Yes, absolutely. The Dune-based player on the R_volution PlayerPro can open files directly via SMB and HTTP network paths without any issues. Network playback is one of its core strengths. Can the Android device reach the network path? Yes. The R_volution device is on the same local network as the media files, which are stored on Synology NAS devices. Direct access is not an issue. Our intended approach Rather than waiting for a native Emby feature, we are considering building a small local bridge application that would work as follows: The user browses the library and selects a title in Emby as usual The bridge intercepts the playback event via the Emby API or webhook The bridge retrieves the direct network path to the video file and any associated external SRT subtitle file The bridge launches the Dune player via an Android intent, passing both the video URL and the subtitle path directly This would give us the best of both worlds – Emby's excellent library management and metadata, combined with Dune's superior handling of Dolby Vision, Dolby Atmos and lip sync. Additional observation It is worth noting that even when using the R_volution PlayerPro as an external player alongside Emby, the movie title is already displayed at the top of the screen when playback is paused. This confirms that metadata communication between Emby and the device is already functioning, which is encouraging for the bridge concept. Our question to the Emby team Does Emby currently support webhooks or API callbacks that fire when a user initiates playback on a specific device? And is there an existing API endpoint that returns the direct file path or network URL for a given media item? Any guidance on the available API hooks would be greatly appreciated. -

Is the expected behaviour that it is always searching for subtitles (what it seems to be doing) or only during the scheduled task (what I expect)?

After install Emby on Synology 7.2.2 72806 update 3 URL gives " forbidden"

Really depends on what you applied on the Networks menu. Possibly <LocalNetworkSubnets /> <LocalNetworkAddresses /> -

FLAC files with same Album and AlbumArtist tags appear as a duplicate album if the Artist tags differ.
user24 replied to Standroid's topic in General/Windows
No worries! At least you have the album problem resolved for the moment - with a "Fix" even if you don't see it as a "Solution". Thinking a bit more about some of the other things I mentioned... have you played around with the Mp3tag Actions and scripting at all? With your test files previously, I had just manually changed the Disc and Track numbers. BUT, if you did want to do this across your whole library, it could be automated in Mp3tag. E.g. just make an Action such as this: Or whatever variation that may suit what you potentially would like to do??? (Note: I only tested this on your 3 test files - you would likely need something slightly different if you have numbers 100+) This is just an example of something that would take ages to do manually, but very easy if automated. Cheers! -

The real problem was that the "isolate" environment used by Emby for ffmpeg was not compatible with my hardware (cpu Kaby Lake) and software (Debian 12). I wrote the attached guide that describes the the steps that I implemented to get the trasconding working on my system. Dan Technical Guide - Enabling Intel HDR Hardware Tone Mapping.pdf

Tried the new version? @zerodayzThe has control for audio/video transcoding blocking as well.

Fire tv stick and hybrid hdr10+/DV files now work?

Fire tv stick and hybrid hdr10+/DV files now work?
kaledi replied to kaledi's topic in Android TV / Fire TV
Think I've discovered a bug. When connected to a multi channel receiver and a file with multi channel audio is selected, on initial play it plays in stereo. If you select an alternative audio track it play correctly and that is the case if you move back to the original audio track. Also it cna be 'corrected' by selecting a lower quality that forces a conversion -

I would try it but we haven’t specifically looked at that. -

Is there any chance now that you've solved the playback of these hybrid files, you can provide a way to select which hdr format to play? -
Hi. You probably want to check out the webstreams plugin.

Intermittent "No Compatible Streams..." Error (STRM files)
sundevil67 replied to sundevil67's topic in Web App
I found an issue with my VPN that was causing one problem.. and it got better, happening less frequently, though last night I was able to duplicate it where VLC worked & Emby didn't. I'll see if I can dig up another log for that time period & post it back. Thanks for sticking with me. -
Hi, the series tab is for scheduled series recordings.

Hi, if you have tried Scan Library Files and Refresh Metadata and the rogue genres remain, then you could perhaps try removing them using the Metadata Editor of the individual albums. You could do this one-by-one or bulk remove all selected bad genres from one album at a time, as per image below: I couldn't find a way to potentially bulk remove a selection of Genres from a library via the music Genres page though. Someone else may know a more efficient way??? If the rogue genres still appear after rescanning/refreshing, then you may need to investigate further? Cheers!

Unable to play MP3 files / constant crashes during audio playback
hallansen replied to hallansen's topic in Android Server
It seems, after searching the forum, that I'm not the only one with this problem. Here's just one example: https://emby.media/community/topic/145173-emby-server-continuously-crashes-on-nvidia-shield-during-playback/ It is certainly undisputed that the Shield is the best hardware for the Emby Server and is used by many. Therefore, troubleshooting should be a priority here. It's unacceptable that there's no response. If it were all freeware, that would be fine, but I paid over €100 for a lifetime license and expect decent support! Not good advertising, but good for the competition... -
Playing via the DLNA server doesn't change the playcount.

You select the user in the DLNA settings. Maybe that's just for library access though.
