Subtitles Getting Tripled or Quadrupled Sometimes
justkidding replied to Riptide126's topic in Linux
also strongly considering a switch to Plex… Too often I find that bugs I experience were reported in these forums years ago and seemingly ignored. Despite having a basic, vanilla setup, I get very inconsistent results. Will you actually investigate and fix this? I want to continue using Emby for its great design, but this bug makes many of my movies and shows infuriating / impossible to watch. This is the exact same problem mentioned in this topic (i believe if you do a search you will find man more reported): -

Managed to nearly get these figured out - card radius changed from 4 to 0 was easy. I need W =122.5 to get an exact card size match - it then throws out the card spacing a tiny bit, but I haven't solved that just yet... The other "weirdness" was mostly me figuring how it works and also finding out I probably gave a bad specification to begin with: Decades works well and I think the Release Type needs to follow the same method. i.e. when there is no Year then the Albums get grouped into Unknown and are relegated to the bottom section. But my Release Type of: Other Releases | Bootlegs | Ungrouped should really have been specified as Other Releases | Bootlegs - which is a valid Release Tag for albums that don't fit elsewhere, but have still been tagged. Then Unknown needs to be used for any Albums that have not been tagged at all with a Release Type. (I reconfigured my Tag names - changed "Other" to "Miscellaneous" - to oversome this while testing - refer to image below). Also, as I have other Album Tags that are not Release Type (e.g. CDs, DVDs) these tags of course show up in the Groupings. So we essentailly have a function that is not a narrow "Group by Release Type" but a much wider "Group by Tag". This is not necessarily bad, and may give good flexibilty - but then it all comes down to the Tag sorting - ascending/descending based upon alphabetical order. "Release Type" tags need to be kept together in a preferred order, but Emby has no Sort Title field for Tags - so that means being creative! (refer to image below, again). (Note: I personally prefer Group by Release Type as the key function, and may therefore turn my other Album Tags into Collections, so they dont pollute the view.) So I think that just allowing "Other" to be a valid Tag and separating the untagged Albums away from this will solve my "weirdness" issue. Nothing wrong with your coding, just my specifying!!! The rest is just how Emby works. Hope I am making sense?

I'm moving and have to give up having a fixed IP - how do I share outside my LAN?
keithsrobertson replied to Mendocinotim's topic in MacOS
Dynamic DNS is what you want. My ISP routinely renews my IP, typically at least once a day. So I currently use No-Ip (www.noip), but have used other services such as changeip in the past (www.changeip.com), but there are many others, some free, some paid. You enter your preferred name and choose your a ddns domain name from a list provided by the dynamic dns provider. As an example say its *.ddns.info, and you choose it to be mendocinotim.ddns.info You have to then update that ddns record so it points to your current ip address where your emby server is, this is usually done via your router, but can be done with other hardware or software as well. Best to check which ddns your router supports to see what options are available to you. I have some posts that previously I made in relation to ddns for my emby server running on a qnap nas device, including generating ssl certs for the emby server so that users can connect securely to (using the same example as above): https://mendocinotim.ddns.info:8920, which is then connected to your ip address of the emby server running at your home. Edit: You may be able to use your existing domain name you already have, to be dynamically updated with the server ip, same as the ddns - but I dont have a domain name, so I have no experience of that myself, maybe someone else will be able to confirm if that is the case. Hope that helps. -
Can someone from dev team help here ? I’m really disappointed by not being able to use my Emby server. Can @Lukeand or @Happy2Playhelp or have solutions? Thanks in advance!

I'm moving and have to give up having a fixed IP - how do I share outside my LAN?

I'm moving and have to give up having a fixed IP - how do I share outside my LAN? We are considering moving to a remote location, where Starlink is our best option. We have lived (rented) the same house for 23 years, but now have to move. As I am a lifetime Emby Premier member of this community, I am wondering..? Is there a way for my users to access my server without my needing a fixed IP address? I have a domain name assigned to my fixed IP (in my current home) right now. What do you suggest? -
I was thinking the same thing.

I don't know about TrueNas, never uset it.

Wow nearly two years since this problem was first reported and still no permanent fix. I can't say I'm surprised at all. I guess aesthetics are more of a priority than basic functionality here.

@yockerYou might want to do some testing for "subdirectory" type reverse proxy entries (ex: https://www.domain.com/emby/) as your plugin bombs on loading content in that manner. I have mine setup both as a subdomain (https://emby.domain.com/) and the former, and only now did I observe the issue: -
@LukeAny closer to finding a permanent fix? First reported August 22, 2024.

Killface69 started following Fernsehprogramme streamen über EmbyServer
-
Ui, schwierig.

Ya the Web gui that's works great.. This is the Android version on my Shield

AFAIK, the fastest way is to right-click -> Play

@GrimReaper Initial quick feedback is that it runs from installation, without any problems at all. Two very minor styling issues: 1. I have my overall Emby grid size set as: Smaller which gives 8 albums across the screen. Group by None still retains this, however the alternative Release Type and Decade views have a larger size, giving 7 albums across. I haven't really looked at the code yet to see if there is a card size setting to adjust??? 2. I run custom CSS that makes the album corners square. As the default Emby has them slightly rounded, I guess the custom CSS runs first and then the script runs and just uses Emby default. Therefore perhaps I need CSS in the script??? A possible functional quirk that I need to investigate further though and look at more Artist examples and edge-cases. Decade sorting ascending and descending works fine. But the Release Type sorting seems to give some strange results. I know that is very vague, but I'll follow up later with more specific details... Overall though, it is working very well!!!

Embodiment started following Blacklist Song in Android App for Music
-
Simple request that the Android app have the ability to blacklist a song. Lots of features available when the three . . . are touched next to a song. I would like an option to 'blacklist or skip permanently a song. As opposed to deleting the song which than breaks of the completeness of the music album.

I appreciate the support. Sadly, that's exactly what happens after I downgrade the plugin, and restart the server. As I mentioned above, downgrading the plugin + restarting makes it seem like I did not, and so if I had copied the log before restarting, it would've most likely mentioned that the downgrade was successful. I will send you a fresh debug log after the downgrade, and one after a restart, then. Thanks. I appreciate it. I did realize that, and so I invalidated those tokens within minutes of the incident. Also, I tried to remove the log, but no matter how many times I tried editing my reply, the log would multiply, and deleting the reply completely isn't possible, unfortunately. In other words, I couldn't fix my mistake even if I wanted to, which is kinda embarrassing for someone who's been tinkering with all kinds of IT stuff since 2006. Will do. Cheers, I did read that before posting that reply, but I missed the note written in italic ("rookie" mistake, I guess), hence the unsanitized log incident. I can easily locate stuff on the log, but when I read that the whole log had to be included, I decided to just follow those instructions. Speaking of locating relevant stuff on the log, I just noticed that the Emby app from MS Store (for some friends and family) throws this error `Playback error: there was an error processing the request....` while it works fine on my PC. I tried to update dependencies manually by getting them from what I call the Adguard Store (Microsoft Store - Generation Project), but to no avail. Firefox triggers a "No compatible streams are currently available", while Chromium-based browsers like Brave, Chrome, and even the UnGoogled Chromium work great. I also am not sure if this is relevant in terms of performance, but I have 128GB of DDR4 RAM (3200 MT/s CL16) (managed to grab another 64GB kit for $170 days before the current scary situation, which felt like I had foresight ), and metadata + transcode cache is stored on my Samsung 970 Pro (1TB). I figured the more the merrier, and if you could please explain in technical details why 128MB (default) would be more optimal, I would appreciate it. It's just that I have a "traumatizing" experience with Jellyfin when it comes to the loading animation, and that's the main reason I switched to Emby in hopes that the latter handles database operations better. So far so good. -
Installed version 4.10.0.7 beta just to see if the sqlite updates would help, sadly searching is still sporadically unreliable. Still looking forward to a fix, hopefully soon.

So what if I wanted to open a link from Google tv though? Emby already shows imdb links etc, why can't you make an option to allow users to open IMDb from their tv if they want to? How is it any different than another other app opening external links, which they do?
