If you have RTM enabled for the library(s), Emby will automatically take care of it. Otherwise, there is no hurry to re-scan, as it won’t hurt anything, but if you try to play a deleted item it will just throw an error (no big deal), the next scan will remove the entry completely. Just make sure you delete the directory, not just the videos.

This has probably been posted before and I think I may already know the answer having used Emby for so long.. My 94TB storage is nearly full because I'm a hoarder of everything I can grab such that there's more to watch on my server than I can watch in the balance of my lifetime even watching 24/7/365. Add to that, with today's prices for hard drives, I'm not adding another at this time. I'd like to just delete old stuff using Windows Explorer for the quick and dirty method which I don't think is a problem and I even think Emby will recognize the change but should I kick off a scan after deleting excess junk I'm never going to watch?

Sorry @LukeI did give the instructions of what I did. Steps I took Added the Supergirl-NOSUB.mkv to the library and re-scanned Played the movie Selected any of the 4 subtitles that are embedded None of them show Removed the -NOSUB version from the library Added Supergirl.mkv to the library Played the movie Downloaded the .srt via emby (any one works as an example, I dont care if it doesnt line up) the Subtitles work

We need to avoid uploading information about a user's library to a 3rd party.

Plugin: Ginjaninja Tools - Consistent Season Images - Help to ensure all images are part of the same set
ginjaninja replied to ginjaninja's topic in Plugins
0.1.0.18 Added a notification for Admins if images found on provider when missing on emby. (All|Posters|Banners) (cached with staggered expiry). Added availability filter to UI to show such shows (respects the layout Show All|Poster|Banners) Added an ignore flag for series you dont want to clutter the ui (because you know they are lost causes) More promiscuous in allowing cross season drag and drop with green/amber/red warning. Drag directly on to current placeholder to update emby (an alternative to apply) (blue) Any feedback much appreciated, i need a few users / feedback before i can put it on the store.- 3 replies

My continue watching does not keep up-to-date on the 'next' episode. Using Emby for Android app. It will show something from several episodes old and I have to go to that wrong episode, back up and go to Series, and there is MAY show me the correct next episode. Occasionally, if I back, back, back, and exit and relaunch, it will finally set to the right episode. This is impossible to explain to my parents! Please tell me there is a solution.

Your nvenc drop-in is definitely the culprit. My new method relies on runpath instead of LD_LIBRARY_PATH, it's less invasive and thus more portable. Still need to iron some things out to make sure dlopened libs still work, but it should make it so you don't need to add LD_LIBRARY_PATH in your drop-in as well. I'll have a custom build ready for you later this week.

This is when cast member photo urls are obtained, so this is when it should happen. But for existing ones that are missing, all of this happened in the past, so there's no way to know why. You can refresh metadata as I suggested and then if it happens with a new movie we can look closer at it.

That's not all it is. It's specifically being developed with an API/webhooks for developers. The primary use case for which is precisely what I'm talking about here. Emby could theoretically create their owner player with Ray integrations. Or Emby could post media info to a webhook every time a new file hits your filesystem and OS would return a complete subtitle file. That's not far off from how emby already handles automatic subtitle downloads but by using Ray webhooks, you would get a generated file if one didn't exist before which would probably require additional information passed to OS. That level of detail isn't known, so I'm speculating here, but the idea of Ray integrations into media players isn't speculation. I've also heard concepts thrown around on Reddit about the idea of a companion that kind of 'watches' the movie with you. Basically someone you can ask questions to that is aware of where you are in the movie so as to avoid spoilers. "Hey that didn't make sense just now. Did I miss something?" Ray might respond with what you missed, or a timestamp of where you might jump back to see it. Ray may also tell you that you didn't miss anything and that you just need to be patient. I watched a movie just last night where I asked my wife a question like that and we just had to rewind a few seconds to catch it, but I've definitely been 'in too deep' before to just rewind and hope I find what I missed because naturally I don't know where it might be. This would be great in ebooks too, but I digress. Lot's of interesting ideas out there for technology like this. Guess I was just wondering if Emby has any intention of approaching it or if there is a reason they don't want to.

1. Often very famous actors' photos are missing 2. When I scan for metadata immediately after uploading the movie the missing photos are showing up
-
Nonetheless, the process of learning why is the same. What I mentioned above is the most likely answer: But there could be other reasons as well.
-
It's not an isolated incident, every movie or show I add has random photos missing.
-
OK so it's hard to say why those people didn't have an image. Maybe from the time you first added the show or movie, new people images got uploaded to tmdb or tvdb. The next time you add a new movie or series, if you think someone should have gotten an image that didn't, then please provide the log from when the movie or series was first imported. But before doing that, check whether or not your enabled metadata fetchers in library settings even have an image for that person. So if you have Tmdb enabled, then check the Tmdb website, same for tvdb, etc.

refreshing metadata on what exactly?
-
Yes, manually refreshing metadata works.
-
HI, what example are we focusing on here?
-
Hi. Either use the standard app as suggested or you can join the beta for the Android TV app and I believe your issues should be solved.

HawkXP71 started following Subtitles not showing
-
I have a video with subtitles, however they are not showing up at all. I have ripped them out of the MKV to check, and they have text at the time I am looking. If I download subtitles using emby's system, the newly download subtitles work great. I attached the embyserver log file, debug logging is on as this was my dev server. I have tried this on my primary server and I get the same results. Any Ideas? embyserver.txt

"Ray" is a new player created by OS and it automatically creates and uploads subtitles to their database.

Status of Dolby Vision Profile 5.0 transcoding?
HawkXP71 replied to HawkXP71's topic in General/Windows
Honestly, I had about 15 movies and 30 or so episodes. I wrote a script to do the conversion, that worked for all but 4 or 5 files. For those the pulling of the RPU data using using dovi_tool was empty, so I just req-acquired them. I think marked each file with "-DV" so a user would know. Is there any "sure file" way for emby to ask the client if they support DV Profile 5? Or if they dont support DV 10 fallback? Thanks for the info. Scott
