Thanks for all the info. Something doesn't make sense with this. We'll have to try and get back to basics. Just to eliminate this as possibly being a problem. Can you please try and find where this is being limited, it could be in the playback settings on the client? Can you please turn off the hardware acceleration Transcoding option on the server and do some tests. Please test with a basic mkv file with a h264 1080p video and ac3 audio track, and ensure subtitles are all off. Does anything play, or is it just items that need transcoding due to TrueHD/DTS/bitrate that is the problem? Let's try and get something DirectPlaying, then we can work from there.

Emby 2.0.3 Apple TV 4K – Emby app crashes during playback (Direct Play) with no server errors
Eliran replied to Eliran's topic in Apple TV
just an update , i take it back it didn't solve the problem watched a movie now after about 15 minutes crashed again..so EMBY Team we would love some inpout. -
Also potentially of note, changing the remote streaming quality settings to something like 4K-60 makes no difference to playback

Ok ... So i uninstalled Emby client from both Samsung TV's, powered off units at wall for 5 mins approx. - Powered TV back on, installed Emby client 2.2.28 from store, created connection via http://########.net , port 8096 on both TV's - Clients connect ok to server, navigate no issues, but same behaviour in regards to playback. I then disabled SSL connections on server, enabled debug logging and restarted server. Still no playback of any media... spinning circle for minute or so, then either a black screen and then 'no compatible streams' message or it just bounces back to media selection page I then went into Diagnostic options, enabled force transcoding, updated transcoding logs to debug attempted playback - no go For reference, i grabbed a screenshot from my phone, looking at the server dashboard after forcing transcoding and it still says its attempting direct play even tho from my understanding the audio codec alone should make it transcode On the other TV, which is an older UA75RU7100, i was getting this error message, this was at 12:48 today I have had a quick look through the log (attached), but don't really know to read them properly, i did see a number of bitrate exceeded errors, so just thought it was worth noting the app settings for the QA75Q60AA TV were set to auto for remote streaming Hope this all makes sense, if there is anything else you want me to try, please let me know... but at this point, no SSL is involved and these two clients just won't playback anything. I built the plugin with movies and series in mind, music was added later on. I’m guessing music etc isn’t included because I overlooked it in the cleanup menu. this is a theory and I have to look at the code if this is included or not. Either way, this is on the “to-fix”list! We can still put tags on collection, that’s not the problem. The problem is that Emby Home Screen UI won’t show these items as we want to. Unless I have missed something with later version? With the first 4.10 beta we could do this, but then it was removed. Both me and the creator of Acdb plugin has requested they would bring it back. I think I understand.. Let me know if this doesn’t answer your question You can make a Home Screen section with individual play states. The plugin mimics the Emby menu for this, so if you go to the Home Screen section tab you will see “play states”. If set to unplayed it show on individual basis on the Home Screen. so for example you make a new tag/collection named “movies you must watch”, all movies that the individual user already have seen will be hidden on the home screen. But if the user go into the collection all movies will be displayed. But if you want to create an individual “my list” you will probably need to create one per user. (Recommend using playlist as source for this) To summarize: yes, the plugin works the way you describe. The Home Screen tab in the plugin mirrors the menu and settings from the native Emby. change a setting in the plugin - it also shanges in embys settings, and vice versa.

Emby 2.0.3 Apple TV 4K – Emby app crashes during playback (Direct Play) with no server errors
Eliran replied to Eliran's topic in Apple TV
Hi , I'm the one who posted this issue , last night apple tv version 2.0.5(3) dropped (auto updated) and it seemed to fix the crash problem, i watched two full episodes in total of about 2 hours straight no crashes , can the EMBY Team please give us a brief as of what was the issue and was it specifically addressed in that release ? thank you , write if it helped you too Emby Windows server version is 4.9.3.0 (not sure if it was updated too) -

Resfreshing metdata replaced the title with the embedded title form the video.
Kyouma replied to Kyouma's topic in General/Windows
It is enabled. But it should not take effect i assume? The first import of this movie it got the correct title from the metadata service. And choosing search for missing metadata shouldn't replace something which was already there or am I mistaken on this? Also just to clarify, this only happened to items with an embedded title. -
You have explained it well enough. Thanks! That clarifies things nicely. It's somewhat like the diagram I sent you. Mp3tag - separate fields Importer - separate selection Emby Default pages - combined (it's the same "Tag" field in Emby - duh!) Emby Custom page - split page view So even though that's the process flow, in real-use I do: 1, 2, 4 and don't even bother looking at 3, it becomes somewhat invisible and irrelevant (but it's not). So my brain then thinks the tags remain separate all the way through. Funny (but stupid) how you can mislead yourself.

@LukeI'm still having issues where the incorrect dates are displayed in upcoming. Title: Upcoming view shows episodes one day early - timezone rendering bug Emby Version: 4.10.0.8 beta (also tested on latest stable - same issue) Server OS: Docker container on Ugreen DXP4800 Plus (Debian) Server Timezone: Europe/London (UTC+1) Issue: The Upcoming view displays future episodes one day early. This has been an ongoing issue since at least May 2025 (see my previous thread: https://emby.media/community/topic/139138-upcoming-tv-schedule-dates/) Proof this is a rendering bug, not a data bug: I have confirmed the following for Marshals S1E6 "Out of the Shadows (2)": TMDB cache file on server contains: air_date: 2026-04-06T00:00:00.0000000Z Emby Upcoming view displays: Sunday 5 Apr Correct date should be: Monday 6 Apr Kodi reads identical data and displays Monday 6 Apr correctly Container time confirmed correct: Mon Apr 6 00:09:59 BST 2026 /etc/localtime correctly set to Europe/London MetadataCountryCode set to GB UICulture set to en-GB Root cause: Emby's Upcoming view rendering code is subtracting the UTC+1 offset when grouping episodes by day. Since air dates are stored as midnight UTC (T00:00:00.0000000Z), subtracting 1 hour pushes them back to 23:00 the previous day, causing them to appear under the wrong date group. Kodi handles this correctly by applying the show's network timezone when converting UTC air times to local dates. Emby needs to do the same. Steps to reproduce: Run Emby server in Docker with TZ=Europe/London Add any US network show to your library View the Upcoming section on the home screen Episodes will appear one day early compared to the actual air date Expected: Marshals S1E6 shows under Monday 6 Apr Actual: Marshals S1E6 shows under Sunday 5 Apr / Yesterday embyserver.txt

Why is my post in a mod queue?
-
OK, but to clarify current usage limitations: the only difference between ADD and REPLACE modes is what is done with the existing tags in Emby: they're either retained or deleted on Process run, as per mode selection, regardless of the method selected below. I.e. Emby doesn't know the source of the tags it has, it only replies with "These are the tags currently available on the album, what should I do with them?" when queried. ADD mode retains them, REPLACE mode wipes them all before importing/adding manually the new tags according METHOD selection.

OK, leave it with me for a while. Best if I just keep working through using it for real now, as opposed to repeatedly testing out the separate functions on a limited basis? A good stable logical workflow might emerge that works well every time, and I'll know what to expect OR I might hit some more random unknowns?

I grabbed my key through cdkeysforgames.com since the price was lower than what I saw elsewhere, and it activated on Steam without any fuss. If you’re trying to jump in without spending too much, it’s been a solid option for me and updates rolled in normally once the game was linked.

Hmmmm, not sure I interpreted all of that correctly, as if I did I'm afraid that would not be feasible, so I think it would be best if one real-case scenario was provided to assure we're on the same page here (as there's so much underlying logic implemented in the script now that one wrong assumption might have multiple consequences): - Track has this and this RT tags - Track has this and this ROON tags - item (in Emby) had this and this tags (or was blank) - This Import mode was selecletd - This Tag method was selected - These are the results I got (Item in Emby had these tags now after process run) - This is what I expected (Item in Emby to have these tags after process run) We can discuss afterwards, once clear picture is obtained. Thanks

Tags are universal, not per-user.

Hi, Can someone describe how does IPTV works on emby server on windows? (Specs win11, latest emby server, latest emby client from msstore, working m3u playlist) Is stream direct to source from m3u or proxied somehow? Many tv channels from my m3u requires local or special location so proxy|vpn can broke it If i open m3u on win11 (where emby server installed) stream works But in emby not Some channels infinite load and some show that region changed But how if server take ethernet connection directly from windows and with same settings (from my router) PS: Ive already try to clear all settings on router and reboot server few times. Problem still occure Log after click on few channels embyserver.txt

[BUG] The playback progress of ISO disc movies is not sync to the Emby server.
Luke replied to chuwz's topic in Emby For Kodi Next Gen
Right OK that's something we'll have to look at for .iso files. Thanks.
