Introducing Emby Learn
What's that thing..?
How often do you come across a term or phrase and wonder what it actually means?
Perhaps you’ve seen it several times and picked up a rough idea from the context, but never quite understood it. And sometimes we think we already understand a subject—until a closer look reveals something we’d never considered..
How do you learn about something..?
A familiar route is Google → Wikipedia.
Wikipedia is a great resource, and sometimes it has exactly the answer you need. Other times, you find yourself working through a lengthy article that covers far more than you wanted to know, or approaches the subject from a completely different angle. You keep searching, open a few more pages, follow an interesting link, and eventually end up somewhere else—with your original question still unanswered.
After a few experiences like that, it’s tempting to leave the next unfamiliar term unexplained.
Why does Emby care..?
When it comes to matters related to the technologies we are using, leveraging or providing, then we want to help you understand it, because they are the ingredients we are cooking with.
But a forum reply rarely has room to explain everything from the ground up and product documentation isn't the best place for this type of additional learning. Product documentation needs to stay focused on the task at hand.
So we've created Emby Learn!
We are introducing Emby Learn, a new section of the Emby website dedicated to the technology behind your media.
It brings together more than 850 articles across 14 subject areas, with explanations, diagrams, step-by-step examples, and links to original specifications. It’s free to explore, whether you’re looking up an unfamiliar term or settling in to understand a subject in depth.
- Our documentation explains features, settings, and how to use them.
- Emby Learn adds the technical background: what the formats mean, how the processing works, and why a particular playback or library behavior occurs.
Together, they help you connect the setting you see with the work happening underneath.
So how do I use it..?
You can enter through a topic overview, use search to find something specific, or move between related articles as questions arise.
The overviews introduce each area and describe the topics within it, making it easier to choose where to begin.
Search Tip: Search will match whole words. Use * as a wildcard char for searching partial words
All Articles...
- Begin with a single-sentence description at the top so you can immediately see what it covers.
- Are aimed to be easily understandable and not exhaustive, not too long and not too short
- Include references for further reading
-
Are original and copyrighted (please link, don't copy)
