Emby Server New and Improved for MacOS

We're pleased to announce availability of a new package for Emby Server for MacOS. To learn how to install it, head over to the download page of our website:

https://emby.media/download

Rebuilt with Faster Components

We've rebuilt the server around Microsoft .NET Core, which is smaller and offers major performance improvements over the Mono runtime that was used in the previous package.

Additionally, everything is self-contained into a single download which means no more manual installation of dependencies.

Easier Installation

Just download and drag into your Applications folder, and that's it. Emby Server for MacOS takes only a few clicks to get up and running.

Is there any way to run the new version on El Capitan? I download and went to upgrade and noticed the circle with the line through it icon.

P.s Great product! Thanks for having me aboard ....

Hi, unfortunately there is no way right now. The Microsoft .NET Core runtime requires 10.12 +.

So this will not run on Yosemite? 10.10.3

Edit: Ended up having to upgrade to 10.13

So going from 3.2.33 to 3.2.34 = rebuild and dropping of all OSs older than 1 year?  Kinda dramatic for a minor point release, isn't it?

Hi there,

I love my emby setup, was using plex before that.

What happens to those of us that don't want to upgrade to 10.12 +?

(I've got an old machine and I'm still on 10.9, which fits my needs)

Will the 3.2.33 version still be available for download somewhere?

Thanks in advance.

It is unfortunate to have to require 10.12, but we are moving away from the mono runtime and onto .NET Core which brings us new levels of performance and stability. It's just that .NET Core requires MacOS 10.12+.

Yeah, Im stuck on macOS 10.11 El Capitan with a computer that cant run 10.12 and now I cant access anything.

I wish there was better legacy support.

Thanks Emby :/
