Version 1.4.3 is currently rolling out with improvements for iOS 11. There are only a couple highlights, but we know you're going to like these.

 

Direct Play HEVC

 

Thanks to hevc support in iOS11, you can now direct play mp4 files with hevc video and aac or mp3 audio.

 

Direct Play FLAC Audio

 

iOS now direct plays FLAC audio. Audiophiles are sure to enjoy this.

One of our devices is an old iPhone still sometimes used just as a music player, since this won't be updating to iOS11 should we avoid updating the Emby app from now on or would these new versions still work on iOS 10.3.3 for now?

 

I realise it won't be capable of direct playing FLAC or HEVC, just wondering if iOS11 is a requirement now for all future versions. Thanks.

You'll be fine updating. It will detect when it's not supported.
