Hi I am a complete novice but have just started to use Kodi in the last couple of days and am at a brick wall. I have the message playback failed one or more items failed to play please check the log for more information about this message.

There seems to be lots of other people who have had this but I can't find a fix online. Any help would be great.

Here is what it tried to play:

ERROR: CDVDPlayer::OpenInputStream - error opening [/volume1/Media/Movies/The Dark Knight (2008)/The Dark Knight (2008) HEVC-1080p AAC-2ch.mkv]

Likely, you can see from that that the path is invalid.  You need to use path substitution to fix it so it has the server name.

It looks like you are using NAS, so you want a substitution something like this:

/volume1/Movies   smb://<NASmachineName>/volume1/Movies

I figured out the substitutions when I added the source in Kodi. However seems like my next issue is that I'm unable to have NFS and Smb path substitutions at same time.

I might try just smb paths since I'm looking to use emby on OSMC and android devices when I'm off work.
