Overview: Finding related media
Metadata-driven discovery uses indexed values and relationships to support search, browsing and recommendations.
Search and faceted browsing offer different ways to narrow a collection. Relationships can connect related works or people, while recommendation systems apply another selection model. This group shows how those experiences depend on the metadata available to the library and the interpretation applied to it.
Search indexing
A search index derives lookup structures from selected metadata fields, with analysis, field scope, positions and ranking determining which items a query returns.Faceted browsing
Faceted browsing narrows a defined item set through structured field membership, with combination rules and count scope explaining available choices.Metadata relationships
Metadata relationships connect identified entities through directed, qualified meanings such as edition, credit and artwork association rather than through shared display wording alone.Recommendation systems
A recommendation system generates and ranks eligible media candidates using content, behavior or other signals, then evaluates whether the chosen presentation serves the intended discovery goal.
