Overview: Recording lifecycle
A recording lifecycle covers completion, duplicate recognition, retention and processing after capture.
Recorded content has a history beyond the timer that created it. The server may need to recognize a duplicate, distinguish an incomplete result or apply a retention rule. Post-processing is another operation on that result, so each page identifies the lifecycle decision and the evidence it uses.
Duplicate recording detection
Duplicate recording detection compares intended content identities and existing capture outcomes so repeat airings can be skipped without confusing different episodes or incomplete recordings.Recording retention
Recording retention determines which captured artifacts remain under count, protection and active-use policies, while successful storage reclamation remains a separate outcome.Incomplete recordings
An incomplete recording lacks part of the intended programme coverage, even when its remaining container parses, its media plays and a recording item is visible.Recording post-processing
Recording post-processing transforms or reorganizes captured media after acquisition, requiring output validation and a consistent publication step before replacing the usable original.
