Overview: Playback history
Playback history records user-specific observations and state across media items and sessions.
Watched status, a resume position and a play count describe different aspects of a user's activity. Next-episode selection can use that state together with the series model. This group explains those relationships so one user's view of the collection is not mistaken for a permanent property of the media file.
Watched status
Watched status records a user’s played classification for a media item separately from its resume position or a complete record of viewed content.Resume positions
A resume position is a saved media-time location that needs the correct user, item and source timeline to continue playback meaningfully.Play counts
A play count is an accumulated application-defined measure whose interpretation depends on the events and state rules used to update it.User-specific playback history
User-specific playback history relates viewing state to a viewer and media identity while shared catalogue descriptions remain separate.Next-episode selection
Next-episode selection combines an intended episode sequence, user state and resource availability to choose a continuation candidate.
