    Overview: Podcasts

Podcast catalogues connect a series and its feed to individually identified episode content.

A feed supplies more than a current list of audio URLs. Series information and episode identifiers help a consumer recognize continuing content as the feed changes. These pages explain those relationships, which matter when an episode moves, is republished or appears in several observations.

    • Podcast series
A podcast series relates published episode records to a show identity while feeds, release ordering and downloaded audio supply different parts of the catalogue.

    • Podcast RSS feeds
A podcast RSS feed publishes show and episode metadata with media enclosure references that clients can discover separately from downloading or playing the media.

    • Podcast episode identifiers
A podcast episode identifier preserves a published item’s identity across descriptive and delivery changes without equating that identity with a filename or media hash.
