    Overview: Playback input devices

Playback input devices carry user actions through infrared, Bluetooth or other human-interface arrangements.

A remote-control button must become an input event understood by the receiving system. Infrared signaling, Bluetooth pairing and HID conventions supply different routes, while a gamepad adds its own control layout. These topics explain the input path around media playback rather than the media signal itself.

    • Infrared remote controls
An infrared remote sends coded light pulses to a compatible receiver, whose decoding and key mapping determine the input delivered to an application.

    • Bluetooth remote controls
A Bluetooth remote delivers supported control data over a paired wireless relationship, with its profile, host mapping and application context determining available actions.

    • Human Interface Devices (HID)
Human Interface Device reports describe controls through declared report layouts and usages, which a host interprets before applications assign actions.

    • Gamepad input
Gamepad input exposes button and axis state that a media application maps into navigation and playback actions with appropriate thresholds, repetition and focus handling.
