    Overview: Receiving events and state

Event and state reception uses pushed messages or repeated queries with different timing and recovery properties.

Webhooks deliver requests to a receiver, WebSockets carry messages during a live connection, and polling observes state at intervals. A gap affects each mechanism differently. These pages explain which observation was actually obtained before silence or a reconnect is interpreted as complete event history.

    • Webhooks
A webhook pushes event information through an HTTP request to another application's receiver, whose acknowledgment and processing have separate meanings.

    • WebSockets
WebSocket carries framed messages over a continuing connection, with message boundaries and reconnection state separate from individual network reads.

    • Polling for updates
Polling queries current state at intervals, trading observation delay and request volume while potentially missing short-lived intermediate states.
