Custom Posters

Dose anyone use custom posters with emby, cos I have spent the last 3 hours changing a load of posters only for Emby to run a scan and revert the lot back to the ones it originally pulled from the net.

This has not only really pissed me of cos I have lost 3 hours but makes me question as to how these are stored it it can lose them that quick!!

I'd assume quite a lot of users do use custom graphics - and can hardly imagine anyone not replacing an artwork or two every now and then. What exactly was your issue? Do you store images with media files or your setup is db only? Either way, they should not be overwritten by Library scan in any scenario, only Refresh metadata with deliberately selecting "Replace existing images" would.

What is your process of changing images?

Can you post a server log of this process.

Only way a image should ever be replaced is if you select Refresh w/replace images.

Well this is what I thought.

I had just created a new Star Trek TV Shows Collection so went through and changed all the Posters for each show and season, I had just finished doing one of the season and when I backed out back to the collection to start the next I noticed all the posters had reverted.

 

What I do is press the Edit Image button/option then do Paste from File or URL (Depending if I had downloaded it or posting from PosterDB)

Please post server log.  Almost sound like a permission issue and Emby if reverting back to existing folder images.

and Logs from that clip along with Logs from when I did it earlier, I had already done Discovery, Picard, Lower Decks, Short Treks and as you can see they have all reverted.

So far Generations, DS9, OG and Animated have stayed the same.

From the video all I see is a refresh issue from the level you are replacing images from. 

When you go to the folder for the series do you see your updated images?  What images are in the folder?

No, I thought they go to my Metadata folder as I don't have it set to save things to the actual folders

But are there images in the Series folder? 

But it would appear Emby is deleting them.  Is something else replacing them?

Theres only the images that Sonarr adds.

So your telling me that cos Sonarr adds them in with the media, Emby is pulling them instead? Cos I find that a hard pile to swallow as the images in the folder are completely different to what Emby had originally lmao.

 

Sorry have used Plex for last 10 years and only started to move to Emby in April

Folder images will take priority, you can not have folder and central Emby images.  There is no way to disable this.

So you would need to save with media or disable Sonarr image/metadata.
