Are we able to restrict user access to certain video resolutions?

Hi,

As per the title - is there any way (that I may be missing), besides using library access permissions, to prevent access to certain video resolutions per user?

For example,  prevent user X from accessing 4K or higher videos - thus preventing them from trying to stream a 4K file outside my home network?

My current workaround is to have a seperate library (defined by folder with all my 4K versions of videos) created and restrict access that way, but I hoped for a more elegant solution - we can currently restrict access based on ratings or transcoding atm.

Cheers and stay safe all :)

You are likely using the most elegant solution to this (a 4K library).  Other options include 'Tagging' files (and then set the users to exclude items with those tags) or remove 'Transcode' rights but that is not very elegant and results in an error for the user.

IIRC, the auto tagging plugin Chef developed can tag items by resolution.

You might wanna have a look at it.

Cheers all. I looked at tagging but when you have 400+ it was a little tiresome... will have a look at Chef's plugin.

Besides that, is there an easy way to recreate the merge between different versions in different locations? I did a dumb and split a heap apart. I vaguely remember a plugin here that did it but for the life of me can't recall its name :)

Cheers all :)

OMG I am so blind - I completely brain-farted over that @cayars. That will work for me :)

Sadly that plugin no longer seems to work, so yay, manual grouping time (400 titles is time consuming haha)

I'm not using it but just checking that thread I don't see any mention of it not working with the current version???

The tagging plugin needs updating. I will fix it.

I just tested  "Auto Movie Version Grouping" without issue 4.6/4.7.  Did you download download the one label 4.6.0.22 as it will not auto update?

Yeah, I had installed it in the wrong location. I put it under programdata\plugins instead of system\plugins

That allowed me to see it, and then I ignored the spinning circle and just hit the update and it worked :)

Yes that is a reported outstanding issue for plugin config, but has no effect on plugin functionality.
