KaptainKrypton 2 Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 I'm running an Nvidia Shield TV Pro and though I have higher bitrate AAC 5.1 and 7.1 audio tracks for most of my library, and while the channel listing (i.e. 5.1 or 7.1) is correct under the stats, the bitrate is perpetually listed at only 320kbps. Is this an error in how it's listed or is Emby/Shield kneecapping the stream? This is both on my local network and while I'm running another Shield at my folks' place.
Carlo 4561 Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Hi, what does the Media Info show for one of these files? You can find this info on the detail screen of the media at the bottom.
KaptainKrypton 2 Posted June 17, 2021 Author Posted June 17, 2021 (edited) Title: Eng AAC 5.1 (Default) Codec: AAC Profile: LC Layout: 5.1 Channels: 6 ch Bitrate: 320kbps Sample Rate: 48,000 Hz Default: Yes I also tested on the Android app on my OnePlus 6T and the same things happens as well with all the surround AAC tracks displaying the incorrect bitrate in the mediainfo box at the bottom of the file's screen. This is the part I found funny because using the Windows app "Media Info" it shows a much different story for the same movie and others in the library. This is a text export of the Media Info readout on my Windows server PC. Media Info Sample.txt Edited June 17, 2021 by KaptainKrypton
Carlo 4561 Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 @Luke is this a case of ffprobe not reading the audio bitrate correctly?
Happy2Play 9785 Posted June 17, 2021 Posted June 17, 2021 Been reported before Emby Server incorrectly displaying Audio Bitrate? - 2017 AAC soundtrack with high bitrates - 2019 Not finding the recent topic that discussed this also, will link if I find. 1

So if I read that right, it's still bitstreamed at it's native rate but that ffprobe is just bungling the readout? Thank you very much for your reply!
Solution Happy2Play 9785 Posted June 17, 2021 Solution Posted June 17, 2021 Would need to see Server and ffmpeg log if present for a specific item when played. But if item is direct playing then yes the file bitrate should be honored.

Just wanted to be sure but I'll definitely take this as a solution as the tracks all sounded great and I couldn't hear any breakup in the high-end during stuff like Lord of the Rings: The Two Towers but I just wanted to be sure there wasn't some setting I'd missed. You guys are great!
