Recordings Library Won't Stay Deleted. Comes Back On Reboot

I was trying out the Live TV part of Emby for the first time recently and decided that I didn't need it at the moment and wanted to go back to how it was before. After recording some shows and testing things out, a Recordings library was added (I know it wasn't there before trying Live TV). When reverting all my settings from trying Live TV, this library seems to be stuck now. I've tried to delete it for several days now and it always comes back.

I think this is a similar problem to the one described in this thread from 5 years ago:

Unfortunately, I wasn't able to solve my problem using this thread.

Things I've tried so far:

  • I removed the Recordings library like any other library. (Library > Recordings > Remove) https://i.imgur.com/0jE7y8Y.png
  • I deleted files in the default recordings folder (/var/lib/emby/data/livetv/recordings in my case)
    ╭─user@server in /var/lib/emby/data/livetv/recordings
    ╰$ ls -al
    total 8
    drwxr-xr-x 2 emby emby 4096 May 11 21:27 .
    drwxr-xr-x 3 emby emby 4096 May 14 19:37 ..

Every time I restart Emby, or just wait for awhile, the Recordings library shows up again. How can I delete it forever?

I've attached a sanitized log file where I did the following:

  1. Start server
  2. Wait for library scan to finish
  3. Delete Recordings library
  4. Wait for library scan to finish
  5. Get log file

With  Emby shut down try deleting the livetv.xml file in the config directory.

That may do it for you.

Thanks for the reply. Unfortunately this didn't work.

The live tv config gets recreated when Emby starts and it looks exactly the same as the previous config.

You can try removing any default DVR recording directories you might have set.
Then try removing the Recording library again.

Try setting the recordings folder the same as an existing video library.  That's what I did.

Still sounds like Emby has a bug ...

I think this did it. Its been pretty much a whole day since I did this and it hasn't come back even after a couple restarts. Thanks a ton!

I agree with the bug thing. I think the recordings library reappearing despite holding no recordings is not the intended functionality. IMO I don't think it should force the creation of the library unless a recording has started.
