One default recording path, Movie and Series recording paths blank.  95% of the movies that get recorded are scraped as TV shows and are either the wrong information or no information.  Once the file is IDed as a show, I cannot manually change it using Identify.  The scan will find the correct result, but when I try to set it, it just processes forever and never changes.  I can rename the files and just drop the renamed file into the root folder manually, but then the user who recorded the file loses their ability to delete it, as the system no longer sees them as the user who recorded it.

Hi,

What is your source of guide data?

xml provided from stream source.  the guide data is correct.  emby doesn't pull metadata from the guide data, it scrapes it as a new file and pulls metadata from either tvdb.com or themoviedb.org or whatever source I choose when using identify.  it's scraping based on the recorded file's file name instead of the guide data.

is there a way to define the format emby uses to save the file name?

Likely it's the guide data is incorrect. An easy to help find out is to look at anything you're going to record on the PROGRAMs tabs.  Does it show up listed as a movie or show?  PROGRAMS tab is using only what is in the guide.  So if it shows up incorrectly here the problem has been pinpointed.

Not the format NO as Emby uses the info in the Guide data to determine what the content type is and how to name it appropriately.

I will add to this by saying for all stream providers I have seen, their guide xml is bare bones and usually doesn't provide the Category tags required for Emby to tell the difference between a movie and a tv show.  You can look into apps that specialize in making rich guide xml such as xTeVe and IPTVBoss, or see if your provider has an option for enhanced guide xml itself.

thanks for the replies.  I use xTeVe but there is no method there i know of to define content.  it's only for filtering and mapping channels and matching streams with the XMLTV ID, you can't individually say "this is a movie" using xTeVe.  I'm using Iconic streams as the provider and will see if I can get a better guide source.

cayars I see what you mean, the guide is seeing these movies as shows I think as it shows "record series" as an option for everything.

IWith xTeVe you can define the xml source to not be the providers but a better one.

IPTVBoss actually supplies some pretty rich xml data you can use.

is IPTV Boss still a thing?  I can't seem to find their site.

Depending on your location and how many channels you're loading you could also use Emby Guide Data but you would have to manually map it.
But that would give you great data.

yeah I may start using that again.  my previous provider had a lot of changes in lineups and I was constantly remapping, that's why I started using xTeVe and pulling from the xml. Plus the streams are coming from different time zones, so I have to create a new guide data provider and try and figure out what channels are in what time zones and get zip codes for those areas, then hope that all the channels are with direct TV or some other provider and I end up with like 6 different data providers that I have to manage.

Can you give a link to IPTVBoss?  I can't find it anywhere.
