How can multiple users share a TV folder but not the counts from each other?

I am setting up Emby for multiple users.  As my son likes to watch some of the same shows as me but not necessarily at the same time as me so I set him up with his own account. In his account I shared the same folder as where my TV shows are stored.

When I log into my account it will now show me all my shows and how many of those episodes are new.  When I log into his account it shows me the same shows (as it should) but his new episode count is the same as mine.  

I want to be able to log into my account and say I have 10 new Star Trek shows, if I watch 6 of them then my new show count should then be 4.  If I log into his account after I watch the 6 episodes, his should still show 10 as he hasn't watched any of them. And then if he watches 2 his new count should go to 8 but my count should not be affected.

Right now if I were to watch 6 episodes my new count would show 4 and when I log into his account it would show 4.

Does anyone know how to do this so each show view on each account is independently counted?

What you described is how the system is supposed to work (and how it does work for majority of users, I guess), Watched status is tracked for each User independently. There's obviously some synchronization going on somewhere. Did you maybr associate same EmbyConnect name on both Users? Do you have some sync plugin, like Trakt?

Thank you GrimReaper, I had his account linked to the same EmbyConnect name...I unlinked it and it is now working as it should.
